This video shows the basics of carbon fiber lay up, step by step for vacuum bagging. The Carbon Fiber fabric used in this video is not what you would normally see. This fabric has a binding agent that helped hold the weave together making the lay up easier for instruction purposes. Your tradtional fabrics would be much looser and easier to mold in three demensional molds. Take a look, and ask any questions you may have.

In this extended video tutorial I'll explain you how you can skin any part you found around you with carbonfiber - carbon fiber (fibre).
By skinning parts you will add carbonfiber on top of your original part. By doing so you will add weight, but you will also add stiffness to your part. You can compare skinning parts with carbonfiber with flattening parts before paint with bondo. You add layer after layer and sand inbetween to get a high gloss finish at the end. Step by step I'll go through the following in this video:
- Chose your part
- Sand and Clean your parts
- Add a basecoat
- Wrap or skin your part with dry carbonfiber
- Vacuumbag
- Add epoxy resin and sand

- Finish and final look

We had the pleasure to shoot three custom-made carbon fiber shotgun slugs. We ONLY had three so we could not fudge the results OR take any practice-shots. Never before has there been a carbon fiber bullet or shotgun slug made, so we were not sure what would happen.
Since the slugs came with carbide core penetrators, we decided to see if they would actually defeat AR500 Armor level III body armor.
These slugs were insanely expensive and difficult to machine.

Carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer or carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP or CRP or often simply carbon fiber), is a very strong and light fiber-reinforced polymer which contains carbon fibers. The polymer is most often epoxy, but other polymers, such as polyester, vinyl ester or nylon, are sometimes used. The composite may contain other fibers, such as Kevlar, aluminium, or glass fibers, as well as carbon fiber. The strongest and most expensive of these additives, carbon nanotubes, are contained in some primarily polymer baseball bats, car parts and even golf clubs where economically viable.
Although carbon fiber can be relatively expensive, it has many applications in aerospace and automotive fields, such as Formula One. The compound is also used in sailboats, modern bicycles, and motorcycles, where its high strength-to-weight ratio and good rigidity is of importance. Improved manufacturing techniques are reducing the costs and time to manufacture, making it increasingly common in small consumer goods as well, such as laptops, tripods, fishing rods, hockey sticks, paintball equipment, archery equipment, tent poles, racquet frames, stringed instrument bodies, drum shells, golf clubs, helmets used as a paragliding accessory and pool/billiards/snooker cues.

By skinning parts you will add carbonfiber on top of your original part. By doing so you will add weight, but you will also add stiffness to your part. You can compare skinning parts with carbonfiber with flattening parts before paint with bondo. You add layer after layer and sand inbetween to get a high gloss finish at the end. We had the pleasure to shoot three custom-made carbon fiber shotgun slugs. We ONLY had three so we could not fudge the results OR take any practice-shots. Never before has there been a carbon fiber bullet or shotgun slug made, so we were not sure what would happen.
Since the slugs came with carbide core penetrators, we decided to see if they would actually defeat AR500 Armor level III body armor.
These slugs were insanely expensive and difficult to machine.

In this video my girlfriend and I, try to explain how to skin/cover a cheap desk light with real carbon fiber. This is a technique where you use real carbon fiber cloth and add some epoxy resin to give it some strength and stiffness. by using a sanding and build up technique you can get amazing results for carports, interior articles and many more, it’s up to you ;)

With this in mind, BMW engineers have decided to take weight out of the 2017 BMW 7-Series, and they started by developing a new ‘Carbon Core’ platform made from high-strength steel, aluminium, and carbon fiber-reinforced plastic.
The new-forged structure helps 2017 7-Series shed around 300 pounds of weight over its outgoing model, adds rigidity, and reduces interior noise. Use of carbon fiber at specific parts both inside and outside helps lower the car’s center of gravity.

While we were allowed some spirited laps, there was a pace car at all times and the new 7-series has been thoroughly tested on this exact pavement; given those controlled conditions, real-world impressions will have to wait.
Caveats aside, the prototype was an extraordinary driver at all speeds, with the rear steering function and lightweighting measures combining to make the car feel a full size smaller than it was. Though not exactly the mythical M7 fanboys covet, the 7-series did things a luxury car shouldn’t be capable of when driven in anger. Stability, steering response and body control are the best we’ve ever experienced on a full-size Autobahn bruiser.
BMW'S WEIGHT-SHAVING STRATEGY BLENDS CARBON, ALUMINUM AND HIGH-STRENGTH STEEL ON FLAGSHIP 7-SERIES
In the finest Teutonic tradition, "carbon core" is both a trade name and precise description of BMW's newest chassis construction technique, due to launch on the 2016 7-series sedan. Essentially, carbon fiber structural elements provide additional rigidity in key parts of the unibody structure, in some areas complementing aluminum and in others acting as standalone structural members.
To help maximize handling, BMW has focused its lightweighting efforts above the car's center of gravity, keeping as little mass as possible up high and concentrating heavier components as low as possible.
Carbon fiber reinforced plastic is found in the B- and C-pillars, in the roof bows, along the center tunnel, on the package tray, in the sills, and -- most impressively -- in a 9-foot arc that runs from the base of the A-pillar to the rear of the car along the roofline; picture a thin, longitudinal roll bar and you've got the idea. Aluminum extrusions and castings make up critical suspension and engine mounting points, aluminum panels form the exterior body sheetmetal and steel stampings make up the rest of the structure.
The result, BMW claims, is a roughly 285-pound net reduction in weight over the current 7-series, with about 90 of those pounds coming directly out of the body structure. Additionally, the placement of CFRP elements should make for a remarkably rigid cell around the passenger compartment; BMW also claims its carbon fiber production processes -- about which they would tell us very little -- have advanced to the point where integrating the material on an “industrial scale” is now feasible.

BMW'S WEIGHT-SHAVING STRATEGY BLENDS CARBON, ALUMINUM AND HIGH-STRENGTH STEEL ON FLAGSHIP 7-SERIES
In the finest Teutonic tradition, "carbon core" is both a trade name and precise description of BMW's newest chassis construction technique, due to launch on the 2016 7-series sedan. Essentially, carbon fiber structural elements provide additional rigidity in key parts of the unibody structure, in some areas complementing aluminum and in others acting as standalone structural members.
To help maximize handling, BMW has focused its lightweighting efforts above the car's center of gravity, keeping as little mass as possible up high and concentrating heavier components as low as possible.
Carbon fiber reinforced plastic is found in the B- and C-pillars, in the roof bows, along the center tunnel, on the package tray, in the sills, and -- most impressively -- in a 9-foot arc that runs from the base of the A-pillar to the rear of the car along the roofline; picture a thin, longitudinal roll bar and you've got the idea. Aluminum extrusions and castings make up critical suspension and engine mounting points, aluminum panels form the exterior body sheetmetal and steel stampings make up the rest of the structure.
The result, BMW claims, is a roughly 285-pound net reduction in weight over the current 7-series, with about 90 of those pounds coming directly out of the body structure. Additionally, the placement of CFRP elements should make for a remarkably rigid cell around the passenger compartment; BMW also claims its carbon fiber production processes -- about which they would tell us very little -- have advanced to the point where integrating the material on an “industrial scale” is now feasible.

The fans of old-school helmets can now enjoy one of the most iconic American lids that bears the touch of Roland Sands Design, and still packs advanced helmet-making technology and safety features. Enter the Bell Bullitt Carbon from RSD, a helmet that bridges the golden era of motorcycling and the present.
The Bell Bullitt Carbon may look like an old design, but you should not let this fool you. It has been manufactured according to the latest safety standards and its overall attire is the only old thing about it. The shell of this lid is made from a low-profile carbon fiber composite that is extremely durable and, at the same time, lightweight.
Underneath it, the Bell Bullitt has a multi-density EPS liner, and both it and the shell come in three sizes for the ideal fit. The lid is available in sizes XS through XXL, and its exterior dimensions and weight vary accordingly, preventing riders using a small helmet from carrying unnecessary weight.
This helmet comes with chin vents and extractors whose ports are covered with metal mesh, ensuring decent ventilation and moisture extraction. The comfort liner is removable and washable, made from anti-bacterial micro suede and with contoured cheek pads.
The chin strap is padded and comes with double D-ring closure and Bell's Magnefusion magnetic strap securing system. Not sure which is the standard face shield, the bulbous one or the traditional one. If you're a retro enthusiast, then the bubble looks like a no-brainer choice.
We're not exactly huge fans of that design, so we were glad to learn that this RSD lid can be equipped with casual visors as well. The Roland Sands Design Bell Bullitt Carbon can be ordered from Bell dealers at the price of $600. No word on whether it will cross the ponds over to Europe or not.

During the two days project I spent more than 10 hours with the knife maker and I filmed parts of his work on this beautiful knife - "Model 1" in Carbon Fiber and M390 Steel.
The knife is special Carbon Fiber edition to the basic "Model 1" in M390 or K110 steel with green micarta.
Overall length - 20.5 cm
Blade length - 10.5 cm
Blade thickness - 4.5 mm
The M390 steel blade is heat treated to 62 Hrc at 1075 C in stainless foil and have a cryo in liquid nitrogen.
M390 composition:
Carbon 1.90%
Chromium 20.00%
Vanadium 4.00%
Molybdenum 1.00%
Silicon .70%
Tungsten .60%
Manganese .30%
The hollow grind was made on a 20 inch wheel - during the video you will see the thickness of the blade behind the cutting edge.
The abrasive belts for grinding and finishing the blade are:
- ceramic - 36 grit
- cubitron-II 60 grit
- ceramic - 120 grit
- trizact gator - A65
- scotch brite - medium
Final sharpening on diamond rotation wheels.
The knife is skeletonized full tang with SS corby bolts and SS lanyard tube.

Hello Chemical Guys Family,
I had the absolute pleasure and honor of being asked to detail a 2008 Cessna Skylane TC for one of my customers. It's not everyday, specially here in Maine that you get to work on something of such value. Keep in mind this is my first airplane and the first thing that came to my mind when asked was "JETSEAL109!" I explained to my customer that all of CG products are cross line products and that his airplane will be in great hands and it will be the nicest looking one on the strip.
I have attached several pictures that I would like to share with you and I hope you enjoy. Every time I look at these pictures, I can't believe the reflection/shine that this plane took on.
Thanks to YOU, this customer was completely amazed at how his aircraft cameout. He kept saying, "this plane looks and feels so much better than when I bought it!" Now isn't that the name of the game? To take something that is already great and make it that much better. Chemical Guys does it AGAIN AND
AGAIN!
Total time was just over 12 hours with detailing exterior and cleaning and conditioning the leather seats.
My process was as follows:
Drewling which I managed to keep under control, lol!
Inspect airplane for dirt, grease, bugs and fallout. The plane was in great condition which required no polishing.
Degreased landing gear, between wings and belly with Grime Reaper
Chemical Guys EcoSmart waterless detail with pod to remove dirt, bugs and very minimal fall out.
Clay wipe small portions of the plane
Porter Cable DA with 5.5 black hex logic pad
2 heavenly coats of Jetseal109

Hello Chemical Guys Family,
I had the absolute pleasure and honor of being asked to detail a 2008 Cessna Skylane TC for one of my customers. It's not everyday, specially here in Maine that you get to work on something of such value. Keep in mind this is my first airplane and the first thing that came to my mind when asked was "JETSEAL109!" I explained to my customer that all of CG products are cross line products and that his airplane will be in great hands and it will be the nicest looking one on the strip.
I have attached several pictures that I would like to share with you and I hope you enjoy. Every time I look at these pictures, I can't believe the reflection/shine that this plane took on.
Thanks to YOU, this customer was completely amazed at how his aircraft cameout. He kept saying, "this plane looks and feels so much better than when I bought it!" Now isn't that the name of the game? To take something that is already great and make it that much better. Chemical Guys does it AGAIN AND
AGAIN!
Total time was just over 12 hours with detailing exterior and cleaning and conditioning the leather seats.
My process was as follows:
Drewling which I managed to keep under control, lol!
Inspect airplane for dirt, grease, bugs and fallout. The plane was in great condition which required no polishing.
Degreased landing gear, between wings and belly with Grime Reaper
Chemical Guys EcoSmart waterless detail with pod to remove dirt, bugs and very minimal fall out.
Clay wipe small portions of the plane
Porter Cable DA with 5.5 black hex logic pad
2 heavenly coats of Jetseal109
CG green workhorse towels

Hi Guys,
finally I wanted to show you now my new DIY selfmade battery technology.
This is very easy to make and puts out quite an amount of small MilliWatts of power.
Not just yet to light up an 1.2 Volts 0.22 Amps incandescent bulb, but at least it blinks it.
With a well built Joule Thief circuit this should be able to really power up many LEDs very brightly.
This will be the next thing I will try.
So how is this battery be made the cheapest way ?
You just need Aluminiumfoil from the supermarket,
a carbonfiber sheet ( This is the only thing you probably have to order,
as the other parts you will get very easily) and some ashes from a fireplace.
(woodashes or coalashes) or instead of the woodashes you can also get Sodium Carbonate, that is also called Washing Soda. This is also available is every bigger supermarket. You could also use Sodimpercarbonate from spot removal wshing solution powders , but this is more aggressive and more expensive, so stick with ashes ( it is free) or
buy some washing Soda.
So then you take about 3 to 4 teaspons of Washing soda or ashes and put it in about 100 MilliLiters of tap water ( about 1/2 drinking glas full of water).
Then you use this solution after stirring to put it onto a paper towel and put this wet paper towel between the alufoil and the carbonfiber sheet.
Then you have just about 1.4 Volts open circuit voltage and more than 100 milliamps of short circuit current. (from a size of around DinA4 sized sheets, so around 20 x 30 cm).
Now you can stack several cells in series to be able to directly light some LEDs or just use a Joule Thief circuit on ONE cell to light up a few LEDs.
I will soon build my own powerful Joule Thief circuit and will show this also then.

This is a great battery cell for emergency usage as the only thing that decomposes is the Alufoil ! The carbonfibersheet can be washed off with water and always be reused !
This is the way to go to build selfmade cheap batteries to power LEDs.
