Sivakumar (Tamil: சிவகுமார்; born 27 October 1941 as Palanichamy Gounder) is a Tamil cinema actor who has portrayed a wide range of character roles onscreen. Sivakumar was introduced in the Tamil movie Kaakum karangal (1965) which was produced by AVM Productions.
Though he came as side actor to the industry, He has starred in the role of leading man and character actor in many Tamil movies such as Kandan Karunai, Thunivae Thozhan and Uyarndha Manidhan. He has acted in nearly 200 films till date. He is a three time winner of Filmfare Awards and a recipient of Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. His roles in Marupakkam and Sindhu Bhairavi showed his versatility as an actor, with the former winning the Golden Lotus Award for Best Feature Film
Sivakumar is married to Lakshmi and the couple have three children; two sons who are actors, Surya Sivakumar and Karthik Sivakumar, and a daughter Brindha Sivakumar.

Sivakumar's brother, an honest government officer gets into his bad books and is bumped off. Now, the helpless father and the meek son draw up separate plans to eliminate the bad guy.

Plot: At a Keralite Christian wedding, a young man in the audience watches mournfully as the woman of his dreams walks down the aisle. Flashback, a young wannabe filmmaker Kartik (Simbu) shares a house with a Keralite family, whose daughter Jessie (Trisha) he instantly falls in love with. After a few minor spurns, Kartik chases Jessie to her hometown and gradually begin a relationship. Trouble brews when her family finds out, leading to fist-cuffs, and Jessie's father fixing her marriage with a boy within the community. The couple continue to meet, but as his filmmaking career starts to take off, there is new friction in their relationship and a drastic step from Jessie.

Jayakanthan was born in 1934 in a family of agriculturists in Cuddalore, in the South Arcot district of Tamil Nadu. He quit school after completing grade 3 education. He was then considered a problematic child. He was close to his mother and grandfather. He had a rocky relationship with his father. Unable to bear the harsh treatment meted out to him at home and in the village, he ran away from home at the age of 12 to Villupuram. There, he grew up under the aegis of his uncle from whom he imbibed communist ideologies and was also introduced to the works of Subramanya Bharathy. At this stage, his mother took him to Chennai and requested a friend/family member associated with Communist Party of India (CPI) to bring some sense to him for she was frustrated that he was a school dropout. It was here where Jayakanthan first worked as a minion in the CPI party office. Jayakanthan has written a lot about his days in the office and seems to cherish his boyhood days there. During this period, he became acquainted with some great CPI leaders of Tamil Nadu such as Mr. Jeeva Jeevanandam and Mr. Baladandayutham and many others. Thus, the CPI office in Chennai became his primary school, the members of the communist party his immediate family.

It was a poignant and well-researched interview with rocket scientist Dr Abdul Kalam, who turns 80 today.
What struck a chord with the viewers was the humble nature of the ex-Indian President, and the way he answered the well-framed questions of Sivakumar.
Several blogs devoted to Tamil literature showered accolades on this one-hour interview. A popular blogger wrote, "The interview with Dr Abdul Kalam by Sivakumar was brilliant and a welcome relief from the normal film-based shows and serials. It clicked as the former president, who rarely watches films, seemed to know all about the actor who was interviewing him."
In an exclusive to CT, Sivakumar said, "It was a great experience to do a television interview with Dr Abdul Kalam in his house in New Delhi. I had e-mailed him a questionnaire on his life and times, but when I met him, I was surprised that he knew more about me and my writings in Tamil. I was stumped!" Sivakumar had done his homework well, and Dr Kalam rose to the occasion. When asked about his happiest moments in life, Kalam said it was his days as a rocket scientist with his dream children — the missiles!
Sivakumar, who has been writing for a popular Tamil magazine, has given up acting on the big screen and the small screen. He once again took the mike to interview Dr Abdul Kalam, as he explained, "I would put Dr Abdul Kalam in the same pedestal as my heroes and mentors — Gandhi, Kamaraj, Periyar and Jeevanandam.
I did this particular interview because I believe Dr Abdul Kalam should be a role model for today's youth." Sivakumar has made it clear that he will never venture into politics. When asked whether he will do another film playing dad to his superstar children Suriya or Karthi, Sivakumar said, "No such ideas. I'm happy popularising Tamil literature and at the moment, I'm researching on the Mahabharatha. However, every morning, I make it a point to interact with my grandchildren. I drop Diya in school and am experiencing the small joys of being a grandfather."

Dr Abdul Kalam vs sivakumar Interview at Gandhi Jayanthi.
It was a poignant and well-researched interview with rocket scientist Dr Abdul Kalam, who turns 80 today.
What struck a chord with the viewers was the humble nature of the ex-Indian President, and the way he answered the well-framed questions of Sivakumar.
Several blogs devoted to Tamil literature showered accolades on this one-hour interview. A popular blogger wrote, "The interview with Dr Abdul Kalam by Sivakumar was brilliant and a welcome relief from the normal film-based shows and serials. It clicked as the former president, who rarely watches films, seemed to know all about the actor who was interviewing him."
In an exclusive to CT, Sivakumar said, "It was a great experience to do a television interview with Dr Abdul Kalam in his house in New Delhi. I had e-mailed him a questionnaire on his life and times, but when I met him, I was surprised that he knew more about me and my writings in Tamil. I was stumped!" Sivakumar had done his homework well, and Dr Kalam rose to the occasion. When asked about his happiest moments in life, Kalam said it was his days as a rocket scientist with his dream children — the missiles!
Sivakumar, who has been writing for a popular Tamil magazine, has given up acting on the big screen and the small screen. He once again took the mike to interview Dr Abdul Kalam, as he explained, "I would put Dr Abdul Kalam in the same pedestal as my heroes and mentors — Gandhi, Kamaraj, Periyar and Jeevanandam.
I did this particular interview because I believe Dr Abdul Kalam should be a role model for today's youth." Sivakumar has made it clear that he will never venture into politics. When asked whether he will do another film playing dad to his superstar children Suriya or Karthi, Sivakumar said, "No such ideas. I'm happy popularising Tamil literature and at the moment, I'm researching on the Mahabharatha. However, every morning, I make it a point to interact with my grandchildren. I drop Diya in school and am experiencing the small joys of being a grandfather."
