A biopic on Majrooh Sultanpuri, the legendary Urdu poet, lyricist & songwriter. Born as Asrar ul Hassan Khan in Nizamabad, Sultanpuri started of his career as a Hakim. Not finding much success from his medical practice, he slowly drifted to the world of ghazals & mushairas. He then went on to be in the Indian film industry from where he got roaring fame and success.
His works are still regarded as one of the finest gems in literature. Some of his famous works include: Jalte hai jiske liye, Chhod do aanchal, Babu Samjho Ishare, Chala jata hoon among many more. One of the famous Urdu verse is also credit to him: "Main akela hee chala tha janib-e-manzil magar, Log saath aate gaye aur kaarvan banta gaya!"

Majrooh Sultanpuri was a renowned Hindi film lyricist. His songs simply display the purity of his thoughts and expressions. He was a versatile lyricist whose songs ranged from romantic love songs to qawwalis, sad songs to devotionals. He was one of the lead lyricist of Hindi Film Industry in 1950s and early 60s. He ruled the industry for five decades. He had given several blockbuster hits with the career of over 350 films. Majrooh Sultanpuri became the first film lyricist to won the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to the Indian Film Industry.
He touched every Indian heart with his number of hit songs.The veteran, legendary, excellent, extraordinary lyricist passed away on 25 May, 2000 in Mumbai. Although he is no more, his songs are still popular and being hummed by every Indian heart.

Majrooh Sultanpuri
Majrooh Sultanpuri (1 October 1919 − 24 May 2000) was an Indian poet, known for his work as an Urdu poet, and as a lyricist and songwriter in the Hindi language Bollywood film industry. He was one of the dominating musical forces in Indian Cinema in the 1950s and early 1960s and was an important figure in the Progressive Writers' Movement. and is considered one of the finest avant-garde Urdu poets of 20th century literature
In his career spanning six decades, he worked with music directors, from Naushad, Madan Mohan, S.D.Burman, Roshan, Ravi, Shankar-Jaikishan, O.P.Nayyar, Usha Khanna, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Anu Malik, R.D.Burman, Rajesh Roshan, Anand-Milind and Jatin-Lalit, to Leslie Lezz Lewis and A.R.Rahman. He won the Filmfare Best Lyricist Award in 1965 for "Chahunga Main Tujhe" in film Dosti, and the highest award in Indian cinema, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for lifetime achievement in 1993. In the 80s and 90s, most of his work was with Anand-Milind, their most notable collaborations being Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka, Love, Kurbaan and Dahek.

His works are still regarded as one of the finest gems in literature. Some of his famous works include: Jalte hai jiske liye, Chhod do aanchal, Babu Samjho Ishare, Chala jata hoon among many more. One of the famous Urdu verse is also credit to him: "Main akela hee chala tha janib-e-manzil magar, Log saath aate gaye aur kaarvan banta gaya!"

He was a versatile lyricist whose songs ranged from romantic love songs to qawwalis, sad songs to devotionals. He was one of the lead lyricist of Hindi Film Industry in 1950s and early 60s. He ruled the industry for five decades. He had given several blockbuster hits with the career of over 350 films. Majrooh Sultanpuri became the first film lyricist to won the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to the Indian Film Industry.
He touched every Indian heart with his number of hit songs.The veteran, legendary, excellent, extraordinary lyricist passed away on 25 May, 2000 in Mumbai. Although he is no more, his songs are still popular and being hummed by every Indian heart.

A biopic on Majrooh Sultanpuri, the legendary Urdu poet, lyricist & songwriter. Born as Asrar ul Hassan Khan in Nizamabad, Sultanpuri started of his career as a Hakim. Not finding much success from his medical practice, he slowly drifted to the world of ghazals & mushairas. He then went on to be in the Indian film industry from where he got roaring fame and success. His works are still regarded as one of the finest gems in literature. SM Mehdi on Majrooh Sultanpuri
SM Mehdi was a playwright, author, journalist and critic. As a young man he was drawn to the Communist party, and was a student leader in Kanpur and Lucknow. He worked with the Urdu cell of the Communist party in Mumbai with Sajjad Zaheer. He wrote several well received plays and went on to translate dramas into Urdu. He was a scholar who loved to share his knowledge with the many people who came to him seeking help. In later years he wrote TV shows that are still popular, and scripted shows on India's composite culture. He was a devotee of Ghalib and Iqbal. SM Mehdi was a playwright, author, journalist and critic. As a young man he was drawn to the Communist party, and was a student leader in Kanpur and Lucknow. He worked with the Urdu cell of the Communist party in Mumbai with Sajjad Zaheer. He wrote several well received plays and went on to translate dramas into Urdu. He was a scholar who loved to share his knowledge with the many people who came to him seeking help. In later years he wrote TV shows that are still popular, and scripted shows on India's composite culture. He was a devotee of Ghalib and Iqbal. He passed away in Aligarh in January 2015 at the age of 94.

A biopic on Majrooh Sultanpuri, the legendary Urdu poet, lyricist & songwriter. Born as Asrar ul Hassan Khan in Nizamabad, Sultanpuri started of his career as a Hakim. Not finding much success from his medical practice, he slowly drifted to the world of ghazals & mushairas. Not finding much success from his medical practice, he slowly drifted to the world of ghazals & mushairas. He then went on to be in the Indian film industry from where he got roaring fame and success.
His works are still regarded as one of the finest gems in literature. Some of his famous works include: Jalte hai jiske liye, Chhod do aanchal, Babu Samjho Ishare, Chala jata hoon among many more. One of the famous Urdu verse is also credit to him: "Main akela hee chala tha janib-e-manzil magar, Log saath aate gaye aur kaarvan banta gaya!"
