The opening of four new schools under construction in Frisco ISD will be delayed for one year as a temporary measure to help the district save money ... The campuses will now open a year later, saving an estimated $15.6 million in maintenance and operations costs for the district. "This is not a long-term solution," said Todd Fouche, the district's director of finance ... Any new portables would hurt the district's plan to cut costs....

Unsatisfied with campus turnaround plans submitted by eight of the district’s lowest-performing campuses, the state agency has ordered DISD trustees to attend governance training or face stiff penalties, potentially including school closures, state-appointed campus principals or the temporary dissolution of the school board ... The TEA sent letters to 11 districts last week demanding such training....
