In grammar, an oblique (abbreviated OBL; from Latin: casus obliquus) or objective case (abbr. OBJ), is a nominal case that is used when a noun phrase is the object of either a verb or a preposition. A noun or pronoun in the oblique case can generally appear in any role except as subject, for which the nominative case is used. The term "objective case" is generally preferred by modern English grammarians. When the two terms are contrasted, they differ in the ability of a word in the oblique case to function as a possessive attributive; whether English has an oblique rather than an objective case then depends on how "proper" or widespread one considers the dialects where such usage is employed.
An oblique case often contrasts with an unmarked case, as in English oblique him and them vs. nominative he and they. However, the term oblique is also used for languages without a nominative case, such as ergative–absolutive languages; in the Northwest Caucasian languages, for example, the oblique-case marker serves to mark the ergative, dative, and applicative case roles, contrasting with the absolutive case, which is unmarked.

Punjabi nouns are used in the 'oblique case' when followed by a postposition, small words which follow after. In English, we use prepositions; these come before the word. They describe place, direction, time, etc. For example, 'to', 'for', 'with', 'after', etc. English: With Stephen Punjabi: Stephen with - Stephen naal / ਸਟੀਵਨ ਨਾਲ The transformations into the oblique are all quite regular, luckily, but you need to determine whether or not you're using a MASCULINE or FEMININE noun, and whether it is classified as MARKED or UNMARKED. Summary of changes: Masculine Singular: 1) Same as plural. -aa/-ਆ changes to -e/-ਏ Ex: munDaa/ਮੁੰਡਾ ---- munde/ਮੁੰਡੇ 2) -iaa/-ਇਆ masculine nouns, as with the plural, change to -ae/-ਅਏ. Ex: rupiaa/ਰੁਪਿਆ -- rupae/ਰੁਪਏ 3) Irregular -aa/-ਆ nouns don't change at...

Rather than the common method of using the Law of Sines our MATH 1112 is accustomed to when determining how many triangles could be made with the given information, I go over a much simpler method. Comparing the opposite side of the angle given, the adjacent side of the angle given, and the angle itself.
I introduce solving oblique triangles when the information given is in the SSA form...or the ambiguous case. In this setting there may be one solution, two solutions, or none at all. NOTE: At minute 14:37 I incorrectly stated 61*sin(39)=37.8, it is 38.4. At minute 16:50 I state that angle B is 48.4 degrees. I hit the wrong button, it is 50.2 degrees. There are annotation corrections, though they will not be visible on an iPhone or iPad. I am very sorry for the errors. Check out http://www.ProfRobBob.com, there you will find my lessons organized by class/subject and then by topics within each class.
