Ben Bennett
Ben Bennett (born May 5, 1962 in Sunnyvale, California) is an American football coach most recently the offensive coordinator of the Arena Football League's Orlando Predators. He has been involved in professional football as a player and coach since 1984. After a successful college career at Duke University, Bennett played in the National Football League (NFL), the United States Football League (USFL), the Arena Football League (AFL), and the World League of American Football (WLAF). He coached in the AFL and af2. He was inducted into the Arena Football Hall of Fame as a player in 2000.
High school career
Ben Bennett played high school football at Peterson High School in Sunnyvale, California where he set 18 school and 9 Santa Clara Valley Athletic League records and was the captain of the senior team.
College career
As a freshman in 1980, was voted ACC “Rookie of the Year” and twice named the ACC “Offensive Player of the Week”. Best individual game was against Wake Forest University, setting three NCAA freshman records by completing 38 of 62 passes for 469 yards. Finished the season completing 174 of 330 passes for 2,050 yards and 11 TDs.
The Voice (Australia season 1)
The first season of the The Voice, the Australian reality talent show, premiered on 15 April 2012 and concluded on 18 June 2012, with Karise Eden being crowned as the winner. This was the first and only season to have Keith Urban as a coach.
Overview
Format
The season is part of the The Voice franchise and is based on a similar competition format in The Netherlands entitled The Voice of Holland. The winner receives a recording contract with Universal Music.
The season consists of three phases: a blind audition, a battle phase, and live performance shows. Four coaches, all noteworthy recording artists, choose teams of artists through a blind audition process. Each judge has the length of the artist's performance (about one minute) to decide if he or she wants that artist on his or her team; if two or more coaches want the same artist (as happens frequently), the artist has the final choice of coach.
Each team of artists is mentored and developed by its respective coach. In the second stage, called the battle phase, coaches have two of their team members battle against each other directly by singing the same song together, with the coach choosing which team member to advance from each of six individual "battles" into the first live round. Within that first live round, the surviving four artists from each team again compete head-to-head, with public votes determining one of two artists from each team that will advance to the final eight, while the coach chooses which of the remaining three artists is saved.
