Chris Irwin Teaches Haflinger Mare Kahuna & Human Deb the Art of Long Lines

Long Lining is great therapy for humans with sore lumbar spines like me. Unable to ride for 2 years because of (human) lumbar back pain, This is our first Long Line Lesson EVER. Kahuna is a 7year-old still very green, TESTY Haflinger Pony Mare. Because Chris Irwin's teaching methods, here the Art of Long Lines imitates a (human) herd leader horse gently herding the equine , this pony took to Long Lines like a fish in water :-) Human, Deb took to Long Lines too & continues to REALLY enjoy the Art of Long Lining....great therapy for resolving human lumbar back pain !!! Kahuna typically gives great performance on the second request, after TESTING (squaring & snorting with head high, rearing low & striking small, spinning & threatening to kick at, shying, running forward, twisting head... any evasion will test), the requesting human on the first request, (thus naturally instilling PATIENCE in the human by rewarding the human's patience through the pony's first testy evasion with a good pony performing the behaviour well on the second request ! ) Once Deb embodied what this pony needed: the benevolent herd leader who is user friendly (present, in contact, aware, calm, responsive, assertive), & consistent/ PATIENT , the pony responds (as here in this video) with excellent performance with really mellow minor evasive moves (shy to left, head twist) then the pony delivers contented cooperation under Chris Irwin's teaching. Look how good Kahuna did (tests a bit by shying, shaking head side to side, just enough to teach me more, and then settles in harmoniously with me) this pony becomes more level-headed (on such a very noisy windy day) as we go through this video !
