Bazian is a commune in the Gers department in southwestern France.
We were honored today to host Zaytuna College co-founder Dr. Hatem Bazian who spoke about the development of Islamophobia. Dr. Bazian connected military and economic changes over the last 30 years to the prejudice against Muslims that we see today.

Dr. Bazian discussed how a Muslim Theology of Liberation is an ethical and moral calling, not a search for codifying permanent power for Muslims. "Debating Engagement vs. Boycott" American Muslims often take to social media to debate controversial internal community questions like when, how and to what end should Muslims engage those with whom they disagree. This quickly degenerates into personal attacks and polarizing language. There is no safe space to rediscover Islam's tradition of open, honest, respectful debate in a neutral forum. ISPU as a neutral research organization, in partnership with ISNA, wishes to provide this needed platform. This debate does three things: It models Muslim civic discourse lacking in social media; it explores internal community debates openly and encourages critical thinking; and, it educates the community on a topic of vital importance. Join us for a conversation about liberation theology with Dr. Hatem Bazian, Professor of Near Eastern Studies at Berkeley University. Dr. Hatem will discuss the fight for justice and liberation for all peoples in light of Islam and in the 21st century. Since the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) till the 21st century, there have been Muslims working, living, and dying for the ultimate justice for all and freedom of all people, internally and externally. As Stephen Biko said, “The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed.” In his talk, Dr. Hatem will explain the difference between people going through the colonialism versus post-colonialism experience, colonization versus settler-colonization, and what needs to happen in order for us to truly achieve...

Here we are, just the two of us
Far away from the crazy rush
And while the storm is raging
It's safe and warm inside
Close the door and forget about time
Ease the river runnin' through your mind
Lay your body next to me
Let your secrets all be mine
Take my hand and believe me
That love will guide us through
Anytime that you need me
Girl I'll be there for you
While the world is going crazy
While the sky is falling down
One thing you can depend on
I will always be around
While the rain outside is pouring
I will make the sun shine through
While the world is going crazy
You can count on me
Cause I'll be loving you
Cause I'll be loving you
I turned on the news today
But I don't wanna hear a word they say
Outside the world is breakin' down
But we don't have a clue
Like a scream in an empty room
It's gettin harder just to find the truth
Let's forget it 'till the night is through
It's all about me and you
We can make our own heaven
It's not so hard to find
Cause girl I will protect you
Until the end of time
It doesn't really matter
If you win, lose or draw
I will be your shelter
I will catch you when you fall
All you do is just trust in me
I will keep you satisfied
Close your eyes and enjoy the ride
While the world is going crazy
(crazy)
While the sky is falling down
(falling down)
One thing you can depend on
I will always be around
(I'll be right there for ya baby)
While the rain outside is pouring
(pouring down)
I will make the sun shine through
While the world is going crazy
You can count on me
(you can count on me girl)
Cause I'll be loving you
(cause I'll be loving you)
(cause I'll be loving you)
I'll be loving you
All you do is call
