We decided to attack the vicinity of the National Institute of Migration as a way of remembering the comrade Mauricio Morales, and what better way to do it than to extend the conflict and remind them that attacks won’t stop even after a comrade’s death or the incarceration of so many others that left dialogue and fear behind, and decided to attack directly and roundly the system of domination; we also claim responsibility for the attack as a show of solidarity with the comrade Natalia Collado and Javier Pino [both imprisoned in Chile, and recently convicted in court], who are about to receive their sentence. BURN BORDERS EVERY DAY THREE DAYS OF DISCUSSION AND STRUGGLE From Idomeni to Calais, images of people trying to pass borders more and more insuperable get to us. At the same time the European states are reorganising the internal management of immigration through new sorting facilities, and heightening control in administrative detention centres. For these reasons it’s necessary to gather and discuss about latest evolutions. These meetings want to raise critical points, both theoretical and practical, and focus on difficulties that came up during the latest struggles, in Italy but not only, with migrants and immigrants. Although we are aware of the difficulty and complexity of this purpose, we think it’s indispensable to have an open debate not dictated by movement commitments and due dates. Essentially, we feel the urge to restart a discussion about these specific matters, without the obligation to reach a conclusion on analysis and propositions, but rather a prolific playing field where to find ourselves in the coming months. Aim of the first two days: – Have a debate with several militants regarding international migration politics related to flow of migrants and closure of the borders. – Take stock of evolution of reception and rejection system implemented in Italy starting from Hotspot, the so called “secondary care” (accoglienza secondaria), to sectioning in CIE. – Have a debate with militants involved in various activities against immigration management, as struggle against CIE and against borders. – Have a debate with militants coming from abroad who stood by refugees and asylum-seekers in struggles. We would like to concentrate the discussion on the following points: – The arrival of large groups of immigrants foreseen in the next months can produce again a situation like the one occurred last year in Ventimiglia, where hundreds of displaced people are gathering. The closure of Austrian border is blocking the path toward Northern-Europe, probably redirecting people coming from Balkans and Southern-Europe to the north-west border. How to plan an intervention that takes into account practical circumstances that happen in these situations? How to carry on an active solidarity with migrants without falling in aid mechanism but rather restarting the course of struggle and complicity? What limits and what possibilities are these situations of emergency offering? – The enormous flow of migrants goes through newly-opened Hotspot, that acts like filters from which the destination of each migrants is decided, and then sorted, in “secondary care” structures, as Sprar, Cas and Cara. Many years have passed since these places were created but lately they are spreading in order to face a bigger number of asylum-seekers. The excuse of giving shelter, used to justify the existence of these structures, covers up a complex net of tenders where companies and cooperatives cash in huge profits in supplying services. The “parking lot” offered to asylum-seekers forces many of them to undergo a course of integration, real or less real, built on educational activities and exploitation of labour. Besides these official courses, secondary care structures represent in many cases a source of low-cost workers employed in agriculture, construction or restaurant industry, where gang-master system has considerable scope for making money. What are the possibilities to take actions against cooperatives, NGOs, associations or institutions that manage these structures? How to intercept moment of conflict provoked by migrants and which ways to take part in them? How to stand against welcoming propaganda, highlighting its inconsistencies and its purpose of control? – CIE is the last transit place for immigrants waiting rejection, captured during police raids or coming from prisons, going ashore or crossing borders. Even if the management of CIEs changes depending on their location and supervisors, in the last years such structures tend to become more similar to prisons: the internal repression exhibited with intense control, isolation cells, requisition of cell phones used to communicate with the outside world, prove this theory. Yet still, uprising and escaping of prisoners show a clear example of how to get rid of those places. Management of services is a stable source of profit for companies and institutions, that sometimes work both in CIE and secondary care structures. How to support uprisings of prisoners from outside and how to carry on the struggle against CIEs autonomously? First off, we were fucking excited to see a flyer circulate that was calling for a neighborhood demo in Hochelag’. We want to be able to participate in moments of struggle in the neighborhood and not only downtown and/or in demos called on Facebook. We can clearly point out that the demo felt more like an action than a demo, because only around thirty people answered the call. Could it still have been a demo even if it was called in this way? Probably not. It seems difficult to subtly circulate flyers, less than a week in advance, and have a hundred people show up. But we don’t feel like people should have called it an action either, in which case we would have the impression that the invitation can’t be public (for safety reasons) and that there would be a clear objective, that people must follow. So we fall into the trinity cul-de-sac typical of Montreal; demo/action/demo-action. We don’t feel like what happened was a demo, and we don’t want it to be called an action either. We propose employing another term for this kind of offensive march: a ‘balade’ (roughly translates to stroll). It maintains the spirit of a march, which can be wandering, and we would add a connotation of combativity – no matter the form that this offensiveness could take. And the invitation could be made publicly, and people would know that there is space in the balade for them to take their own initiatives. The balade is open like the demo, offensive like an action. Onwards. This moment was called as a demo and the offensiveness wasn’t specified, so the situation lacked transparency for people who came and participated – this is dangerous for everyone. The vagueness of the call-out meant that some of the people who showed up weren’t adequately prepared for this kind of moment. It would have been worth mentioning in the flyer that people should come ready to participate in a black bloc, or to wear clothing to disguise their identity. This would have then allowed people to expect to participate in a combative demonstration. Although we understand that people don’t want to necessarily reveal the details of what they have in mind when they send out an invitation, we nonetheless believe that people should have a minimum of information to decide if they want to participate, and if that’s the case, to prepare themselves mentally and physically. It’s a matter of security and confidence, and these are essential in the long-term for our capacity to hold this type of offensive position. Also, the starting point of the demonstration was highly problematic. Around thirty masked-up people in a park is going to freak out the neighbours, and this is how we found ourselves with two cop cars on our backs even before anything had really began. In the future, we need to find places that are more subtle to assemble or else the same scenario will repeat itself. Consequentially, because the cops showed up from the get-go, the people who had more information to share weren’t able to – or only in a highly rushed and even shouted manner as we attempted to get onto Darling street to go up to Ontario. Having a better starting point would have probably resolved, to a certain extent, the lack of transparency of the flyer. Props to everyone, after all, because we knew to stick together from the moment when the cops showed up. We have the strong impression that if everyone dispersed from the beginning there would have been arrests. The fact that we decided to continue together, to trust each other, and to follow the instructions to the exit point clearly saved a good number of us from being arrested. Props to everyone who charged at the cops to de-arrest that person who got snatched by police. Props to everyone for the ferocity and the violent tenacity that allowed us to hold the cop cars at a distance while the condo real estate company Royal Lepage was attacked and while people found the way to escape a potential police trap. Received May 11th: Denn’s Markt (a chain of eco supermarkets in Germany) in Altona, Hamburg was looted and lost a few shopping bags of goods (30/04/2016). We are against a world, in which people are divided into winners and losers. In which a few are very rich, while most others barely can afford to eat. Way too much in our lives is depending on us having enough money and us being functional for others. A few individuals decided to not play along with this anymore, to, without asking – or without even paying – simply just take that, which otherwise is reserved for the winners of society. Expropriation – looting and stealing the goods and the money, the holiest of this society – is a way to attack exactly these circumstances. It’s not about enrichment or wanting a just system. It’s about the social revolution. Fuck the city of the rich.
Neither Law, Nor Work In the night of Thursday 5th May, the windows of the job centre of Montreuil were destroyed with a sedgehammer. On the sides could be read: “Modern enslavers – Neither Work Nor Law”. Day or night, alone, in small groups or as many, let’s attack the structures of the State and the economy!
Received May 11th: We claim full responsibility for the coordinated arson spree in Myllypurossa, Helsinki in the early hours of 9/5/16, in which 6 cars in the parking lot of some shitty neighbourhood and an excavator on the edges of a construction site were surrendered to the flames of nihilistic vengeance. We continue with the indiscriminate burning of cars as a manifestation of the misanthropic essence which flows through us, striking at the moral values of society, breaking the suffocating hold of ‘normality’ and causing terror and outrage amongst the detestable hordes of ‘good and respectable citizens’, whose eager compliance with the technological systematization and extermination of all life on earth fills us only with hatred and contempt towards them. Construction vehicles such as bulldozers, harvesters, excavators and so on serve only to maintain and ‘improve’ the city-prisons and to wreak havoc the earthly environment, so it should go without saying that they will always be targets for our attacks. As our cell has grown and our ideas have developed, we have dispensed with the acronyms that accompanied our last claim, as we feel it is no longer necessary for us to use such labels to ‘define’ ourselves or ‘categorize’ our actions. As we continue on our own warpaths against techno-industrial progress and alienation, we will vindicate our actions with our own ideas. With this attack, we salute the fierce individualities of “nihilistic sect Memento Mori” and “cell of anarchist and nihilist conscience – Falcon of Chaos”. We found out that a meat processing plant in Kalajoki was razed to the ground on the same night of our attacks, and although this action was in no way related to us, we send our respect to those persons unknown (at least at the time of writing) who carried out this arson. Uprising in the prison of Merksplas, Antwerp A small chronology of the riots spreading the Belgian prisons, where guards are on strike for more than two weeks now… On Monday 25th of April, the prison guards of all prisons in the French speaking parts of Belgium went on strike, in total 21 prisons. The prisoners are confined in their cells. All activities, like the walk, shower, visit, legal counsel, are cancelled. The police took over the control of the prisons to assure security. After one week of guards on strike, and with conditions rapidly deteriorating inside, incidents start to spread in many prisons. In some prisons, the situation could be called catastrophic. Prisoners only receive food once a day, didn’t go out of their cells in more than ten days, hygienic conditions are terrible with infections and diseases spreading. May 3. In the prison of Tournai, tensions rise and prisoners start to destroy cells. May 3, during the night. Prisoners of Huy burned mattresses and destroyed some cells. Federal police intervenes in the prison to restore order. May 4. Prisoners of Huy light fires all over the prison, break the doors of their cells, destroy parts of the prison infrastructure and flood a whole section of the prison. Federal police invades the prison during the night. May 4. Prisoners of Nivelles destroy cells and throw burning objects out of the cells. More than 40 prisoners of Nivelles go on collective hunger strike. May 4, during the night. Prisoners in Arlon light fires. The firemen, protected by Federal Police, have to intervene two times during the night. May 5. Prisoners in Jamioulx start to riot. They break down cells, attack some security personnel still working the prison and light fires. Outside of the prison, tens of persons gather in solidarity with the prisoners. May 7. In the prison of Merksplas (in the Flemish speaking part of Belgium, where guards are not on strike), a huge revolt takes places. 200 prisoners refuse to go back to their cells after the walk and rise up. They smash everything they can, some guards are locked in by the fighting prisoners. Walls are teared down, fences destroyed, infrastructure broken, about 150 cells are totally destroyed. Important fires are lit at several points of the prison. One prisoner manages to escape in the chaos, but is arrested a bit later in the surroundings of the prison. Police intervenes with huge forces, but prisoners fight back for hours during the night. Only in the early morning, around 6 ‘o clock, the police manages to break the uprising. More than 100 prisoners are transferred to other prisons. Testimonies speak of the largest uprising in a Belgian prison. May 8, during the night. Prisoners who were transferred from the partly destroyed prison of Merksplas, start to make troubles in the prison of Antwerp. May 8. In the prison of Lantin, prisoners break open their cells and start to destroy several wings. Fires are lit. Troubles continue also the days after May 8. In the prison of Andenne, chaos spreads with prisoners breaking out of their cells, destroying what they can and lighting fires, screaming “Freedom, freedom!”. The troubles continue also the next day and night. A short video is publishing online. May 8. In the prison of Ittre, prisoners got an exceptional walk but refused to go back to their cells after and fought with some guards. Inside of the prison blocks, prison infrastructure gets destroyed by rioting prisoners. May 9. In the newly built prison of Leuze, prisoners who got an exceptional walk refuse to go back and stay out the whole night. Police then intervenes in the morning to drive them back to their cells. May 9. The government decides to deploy the army in the prisons. Soldiers, armed with pepper spray and sticks, are deployed in the prisons of Brussels (Forest and Saint-Gilles) and in the prison of Lantin. The prison guards decide to continue their strike. News from inside the walls is getting more and more rare with the State intervening now to block off any communication with the outside. This action does not only target the transaction of dead animals, but it’s also an attack to the Greek tradition which has some of the most rotten customs. Their basic characteristic is the feast of dead animal bodies for the rising of the national pride and the bloody seal of human’s domination on animals. Greek tradition is closely linked to Christianity. From the hypocrisy of fasting during the lent (40 days of fasting) which is nothing more than blindly obeying to the church’s rules, until the bloody catharsis of the slaughter of the Easter, the victims are countless animals. Besides the slaughter of lambs in the name of a non-existing god, there is also the invisible exploitation of millions of chickens so the can “provide” their eggs, so they can be used as toys for the tradition. The religion of the unreasonable demands the procession of the epitaph followed by the faithful zombies, the submissiveness and the deprivation so they can feel like a martyr with the reward of the consumption of infinite flesh in the biggest feast of the year. My reasons for shutting down is simple, I want to bring as much pain and disorder to the state (ADOC) as I can as an individual in any way that I can. I don’t give a fuck about “changing any laws” because they are the mechanism that is used to keep people from being free. Fuck the law! The only true freedom is when we act outside of the law. But in the cause of solidarity I’m asking all outside rebels to express their solidarity with the striking prisoners through free direct action. BERLIN/GERMANY We are living in times of social isolation: if we still have space in our lives for something else other than work and consuming, routine and entertainment, apathy and distraction, we are trying to flee our isolation through escaping into virtual communities and digital parallel universes. However, we are offered several seemingly different opinions, media and protest groups, upon which we can decide as allegedly free individuals. But to find a way, not only to “like” someone and to let ourselves be represented by others, seems not to be something graspable for most people. When we instead think, write, speak on our own and relate with other people, we are able to self-define the “Why” and “How” of all this. This means as a consequence to act also according to that. Different anarchist initiatives developing in german speaking areas, are creating their own ways and possibilities and are communicating their ideas through various methods, being in offensive conflict with those in Power. Despite all existing difficulties, communication is the basis for every controversy and discussion, every critique and vitality. To take the spreading of ideas into one’s own hands and to organize this, without loosing our own autonomy, has always been a basis of anarchist projects and fights. We are convinced, that only in this way are we able to find out, in what kind of reality we find ourselves and where possible focuses are located. We invite everyone, who is interested to discuss and argue about ideas and perspectives of a life without domination, about means and methods in our struggles, about consequences, problems and obstacles. Everyone, who shares the rejection of delegation and centralisation, bureaucracy and technological dependence, of every personality cult and every cooperation with formal organizations and parties. Defiling a job centre is good for morale. In the night of Tuesday 3rd to Wednesday 4th May in Toulouse, we trashed the job centre of Jolimont with a paint extinguisher. In this context of social movement, where state repression is becoming increasing stronger, we chose to multiply the means of struggle. Because we hate work and all that they want to force upon us. Strolling with eyes wide open enabled me to notice a few traces of hostility towards this world that’s hated to the highest degree. In Rue Battant, the big window of the real estate management agency “Nicolas” was holed and nicely cracked. Further down the street, the military and nationalist clothes shop “Military Look – Nationales Fripes” lost one of their windows. A wooden plaque now replaces a part of this fascist nest. Finally, the notorious prison builder, “Bouygues”, that possesses a branch in the city centre’s Grande Rue, also paid the price in having one of its numerous windows smashed. Now, in 2016, we want to do it again. We want to expand our coverage, scope, and the reach of the publication while remaining true to the spirit of Fire to the Prisons. We will continue with our long term commitment to counter-information, original writing and content, and the amplification of the anti-authoritarian/anti-prison/anti-repression struggle that you have come to expect from us. We will have both a domestic and international voice this issue. While remaining true to reporting on repression and anti-prison resistance across the states, Canada, and Mexico, we have committed articles from abroad promising insight on struggles and happenings that will help to bridge and unify an array of social tensions through a mutual awareness and solidarity. We truly want FTTP to become a global publication and one that links anarchists and other autonomous combatants together in a dialog about the commonalities that we all face, as well as a discussion on the actions and struggles that we can all engage in. We will be covering the resurgence of fascism in mainstream American politics, as well as updates on communities resisting further eco-devastation across the states. We have committed articles from prisoners domestic and international. We have commitments from NYC Anarchist Black Cross to use the project as a resource for raising awareness on repression and prisoner status in North America. We will also focus on the pacification of favelas in Brazil, the current reality and history of anarchist struggle in Chile, and the refugee situation in Greece. We will have further reports on anti-police struggle across the United States, and will be continuing a tradition of news on broader prisoner strikes across America since our last issue. We are also intent on original articles on indigenous resistance in western Canada. Plus accounts and updates of the struggle in Rojava and general Kurdistan. Also all our featured articles will be available in Spanish for free on our website. We are a committed collective. We are prepared to invest a lot of time and energy into producing this project, but we ask any and all sympathetic readers to help us with printing and distribution. by donating to our funding page. While in the past we have had to ask people to pay the postage to our distributor, we would like to be able to send out more copies for free, to encourage broader distribution. Naked, drunk or isolated, we are not prey! La Dépèche isn’t an un-attackable fortress. All big companies have their weaknesses, its for us to be inventive, cunning and insightful enough, to find them. La Dépèche Intéractive is a subsidiary of La Dépèche group. This is enough for us to make them a target. The reasons to hurt the media are uncountable. It’s even a widespread discourse of those who understood that the public opinion will never be our friend. This attack is a reaction to the publication of an article promoting the idea that “we, women” create the circumstance for our aggressors, in not embodying the desires of man’s model wrought, that want us to be silent, submissive, obedient and an object of consumption. The hammers that this time aimed for windows – like they can aim for heads – arm our rage towards all those who reinforce this rape culture. This action is more of a stride in the never-ending path of our freedom from all oppressions. We clearly never repeat it enough; sexual assaults are not the isolated act of a dangerous individual who watches from an alley-way corner – but actually – if not a weapon, its often the threats and the correctional punishment, for all women who have taken part in rebellion in their life, or simply searching to exit the cage that is patriarchy. And its always the reflection of a world that envisages women as objects to submit. The media instrumentalises us to distil fear, in creating a need for security which should be urgently met, with ever more control over our lives, cameras, DNA profiling. They don’t seek to protect us, this discourse is to lure us in, to increase their domination. We don’t want to delegate our protection, but try to organise to defend ourselves, and attacking is one way to do that. To imply, as Jean Cohadon did in his article, that alcohol and drugs are recurring problems with women – that can’t be dissociated from sexual violence and other aggressions that they are subject to – is holding their legs open whilst tormentors do their business. This mediocre newspaper, passionate about various facts and police operations, is one of the thousands of unpunished accomplices that nobody dreams, or dares, to attack. La Dépèche publish their article in their infamous rag, this is another. Amongst women, we’re organising, so that one day we not only take on windows and walls, but also the people that hide behind them, who are the subject of our hatred. We want them to be in fear, so they know that their actions won’t pass without a response. We want them to think of all the pissed off women who watch them from an alley-way corner, who one day dream of thrusting a hammer into their hearts. This year we’re focusing on a different kind of transition: the restructuring of the prison system and thus doubling down on opposition to Maximum Security, isolation, and `s. High-security facilities are not new: for example, Communications Management Units isolated Daniel McGowan and Andy Stepanian for years. Everywhere we look: the state’s jaws clamp down on rebellion. But all this cannot break our comrades or the spirit of our struggle. As Mónica Caballero and Francisco Solar are sentenced to twelve years in prison, anarchists respond to their persecution with smoke and shattered glass. As the Greek state levels its force against the families of the imprisoned comrades of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire and condemns Nikos Maziotis to life in prison, fugitive comrade Pola Roupa attempts to hijack a helicopter to free the imprisoned fighters. As Osman Evcan and Eric King both fight the state’s attempts to starve them for their refusal to consume flesh, comrades mobilize to ensure that their demands are backed with acts of solidarity. As the Chilean state continues to arrest and imprison anarchists, an intransigent minority strikes back in vengeance. As the State of Ohio continues to restrict Sean Swain’s communications, those holding the controls find their names and addresses spread online. As the state constructs an “anti-terrorism” roundup in Belgium, the multiform struggle against prison society there continues, unflinching and defiant. As the United States prison system continues its brutal enforcement of white supremacy and the social liquidation of undesirables, prisons from Alabama to Nebraska face the flames of rebellion. Received April 30th: Repression against the opponents of Fennovoima-Rosatom nuclear power plant project continues: and it’s getting worse and worse. On Friday 29.4. two protest camp sites got evicted in Pyhäjoki, Finland. Police operations were, on a Finnish scale, massive. Not big. Massive. Present were roughly 20 police vans, officers in riot gear, border patrol’s helicopter, sections from both national SWAT teams, dog units and specially equipped riot vans. Police declared the eviction of both camp sites by presenting a legally vague, written police order without even specified locations of the camp sites or other information. Just an order to leave and a deceleration that police will arrest everyone “under the police law” it considers to “be connected to locations” or “able to disrupt public order”. Majority of protest campers and Reclaim the Cape action week participants grouped up and vanished into the forests without negotiating with the police. As we speak, both sites are being emptied of infrastructure and belongings. Comrades are being searched and picked from the woods. Those detained are being helped and awaited outside the cells. New campsite is under construction, but no public. Thursday 28.4. several participants did a classical non-violent lock-on blockade against the Fennovoima-Rosatom construction. After several hours of blocking, police arrived but soon lost interest in the blockade, and instead advanced towards the action week camp. After police had forcefully taken over the campsite, 11 are still arrested after detention, eight of them international comrades. Some of them under a threat of imprisonment. So far charges are about “aggravated sabotage”, “participating in violent riot” and “(violently) assaulting of a police officer”. One comrade is still hospitalised and in a severe condition, apparently due to been assaulted by police. As per usual, majority of mainstream media have not taken interest to be neutral or professional. Systematic defaming against the Fennovoima-Rosatom opponents is being carried out especially on behalf of YLE Oulu’s (local department of national broadcast service). As per usual, we shall not bend our heads when confronted by state repression and physical violence. This police operation was the third large-scale operation against the Fennovoima-Rosatom opponents within four days. The sheer volume of police and state resources that have been put to work against us tell a simple story: we have been able to considerably harm Fennovoima-Rosatom and cross the line from inconvenient to possibly dangerous. Alongside, we have managed to spark up a culture of resistance not seen in Finland since the civil war on 1918: which undoubtedly has spooked those in power. If there never was a time to invite every possible comrade to participate in this struggle: this is the time to call out for practical solidarity. In our hour of need we call for support for the arrested and to builders and defenders of the new campsite here at Pyhäjoki – and to join the struggle by giving Fennovoima-Rosatom what its asking for. With deep respect for a diversity of tactics, we encourage everyone to present this company and every firm connected to it with feedback: and to present Finnish embassies and local police representatives with their share. On Thursday [April 28th] a student of our university lost an eye, simply for having demonstrated. Whilst retreating with all the demonstrators following a CRS charge [riot cops], he was taken freely as a target and hit in the face by a flashball shot. Given that this government has nothing but police violence to bring to the youth as a response, will it take a death for it to cease? It could of been any one of us. Received April 28th: Today 28.4. around 3 pm, a riot cops and a police patrol with dogs started to approach the camp. We communicated clearly to the police with a megaphone that they are not welcome, and we don’t want to engage in conflict with them. The police didn’t say anything or answer to any questions. The police started to shoot people with a projectile / rubber bullet gun and the people at the camp defended themselves by throwing rocks. The police was clearly aiming for the activists heads, backheads and upper bodies with the gun. People got hit several times on the area of their upper bodies. As far as we know, not to the heads though.. The police got hit several times with the rocks, and there was one police car burning up in flames at the area. After a long struggle with delay tactics, the police managed to move ahead to the camp when the people who were defending the camp disappeared to the forest. In the camp the police shot projectiles towards the kitchen-collective people. The police evacuated all the people from the camp, and took some people into custody. The police has also threatened to evict another camp location which is still in our use. We don’t accept giving in to repression and police violence, and the struggle against Fennovoima will continue. Now we’ll need everyone to help build up the camp again, and to continue the fight and actions against Fennovoima. We invite comrades to this fight where ever you are – let’s aim our actions towards the companies which are working with/for Fennovoima, the embassies of Finland, or the local police.
In the night between the 23rd and 24th April, the Greek consulate was attacked in Zurich (Bellerivestrasse 67). The facade was embellished with paint and a waste container burst into flames. Fire to the prisons and a society that needs them! If freedom is a crime, let us all turn to crime… solidarity with all prisoners
Update, April 30th: The person who was arrested on suspicion of pasting the Anarchist Wallpaper has been released. Last Sunday night (April 24th) one person was arrested in The Hague (Netherlands) on suspicion of pasting The Anarchist Wallpaper. He is being charged with instigation against authority, inciting violence and pasting of a poster. On Thursday the person who got arrested will be brought in front of the examining judge, who will decide whether to release him or transfer him to preventive detention. Last week anarchists spread hundreds of Wallpapers in the neighbourhoods Transvaal and Schilderswijk and other places in the city. The first issue of the Wallpaper is about the uprising last year in the area of the Schilderswijk, where thousands of people rebelled for days against the police and the state after the murder on Mitch Henriquez, who was strangled to death by the police. Henriquez was yet another victim of violence by the racist police force of The Hague. Many months after the uprising the police were still hunting the rebels of last summer. Now that someone is locked up again and it seems that the prosecution is very eager to keep him as long as possible on the suspicion of spreading a poster, expressing our solidarity is the only thing we can do. Solidarity through action. Stop the repression! Solidarity with the prisoners! Down with the police and the state! Long live anarchy! On the Schilderswijk revolt In the summer of 2015 a revolt shook up the Schilderswijk in the Hague. A revolt against the daily repression and racism of the cops. Against the suffocating reality of exploitation and unemployment. A revolt of those who decided to break with the normality of State repression. The tables were turned and the cops were chased off the streets. The murder of Mitch Henriquez, another racist murder by the police, was what sparked the revolt. Let’s not forget, let’s not forgive! The politicians, media, mosques and all kinds of neighbourhood initiatives depicted the revolt as an everyday riot, as a criminal act of which the perpetrators had to be punished severely. Don’t believe them; those organisations that live off state subsidies, those who want to push forward their own agenda at the costs of the oppressed, those that sell out the oppressed in order to be able to join those in power. That people are oppressed in neighbourhoods like the Schilderswijk is obvious. Not being employed because of your name, or exploited at a meager salary while the bosses, big companies, politicians and banks are only becoming richer. The scapegoat politics that is integrated in the State is blames people of colour for poverty, housing problems and austerity measures, only to make people distrust each other. But refugees, Moroccan and Surinamese people are not the cause of these problems. The real problem is the State and its politicians that only care for the bosses and big companies, and the police that murders, who wants to protect this at all costs. The revolt in the summer of 2015 was not an everyday riot. It was a legitimate revolt against everything that oppresses us. It was a revolt against the police that terrorises us on the streets. Against the incessant control of CCTV, ID-checks and the so-called “zero tolerance” policy that we only see in poor neighbourhoods. It was a revolt by a community that refuses to be divided by political games any longer. For years we have been asking for change but no one wanted to listen; the only option left then is to revolt. For our dignity, for our existence. Those who revolted and refused to bow down to repression are those who have not lost their dignity. It is precisely these people that offer hope for a different, better future. That this summer may be a hot one! Down with the cops and the State! Long live the revolt! Long live anarchy!
