A Tuareg-dominated rebel coalition said on Saturday it was holding prisoner 19 Malian government soldiers captured in clashes a day earlier, amid growing violence in the north that threatens to derail U.N.-brokered peace efforts. Army sources confirmed that soldiers were missing after the Coordination of Movements of Azawad briefly seized the small town of Tessit, in Mali's northern Gao region. A spokesman for the CMA said its fighters had withdrawn from Tessit by Saturday morning, taking with them captured weapons, ammunition and the prisoners.

Gao (pronounced /goʊ/) is a city in Mali and the capital of the Gao Region. The city is located on the River Niger, lying 320 km (200 mi) east-southeast of Timbuktu. Situated on the left bank of the river at the junction with the Tilemsi valley, it had a population of 86,633 in 2009.
For much of its history Gao was an important commercial centre involved in the trans-Saharan trade. External Arabic sources state that by the 9th century Gao was already an important regional power, and by the end of the 10th century, the local ruler was a Muslim. Towards the end of the 13th century, Gao lost its independence and became part of the Mali Empire, but in first half of the 15th century, the town regained its independence and with the conquests of Sonni Ali (ruled 1464–1492) Gao became the capital of the Songhai Empire. The Empire collapsed after the Moroccan invasion in 1591 and the invaders chose to make Timbuktu their stronghold. By the time of Heinrich Barth's visit in 1854, Gao had declined to become a impoverished village with 300 huts constructed from matting. By 2009, it had a population of 86633.

The Gao Region is located in southeastern Azawad, which disputes the claim with Mali. The region's capital city is Gao, which is also the national capital of Azawad as declared by the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad. It is internationally recognised as Malian territory due to Azawad's lack of relations with any state. Gao Region is bordered to the south and east by Niger, to the north by Kidal Region, and to the west by Tombouctou Region. Common ethnicities in the Gao Region include the Songhai, Bozo, Tuareg, Bambara, and Kounta. Its cities include Gao, Bourem, and Bamba.
For administrative purposes, the Gao Region is divided into four cercles:
Gao Region formerly comprised the entire eastern portion of the country, east of Tombouctou Region. However in 1991 the northern half of Gao Region was separated off to become the new Kidal Region.

A Tuareg-dominated rebel coalition said on Saturday it was holding prisoner 19 Malian government soldiers captured in clashes a day earlier, amid growing violence in the north that threatens to derail U.N.-brokered peace efforts. Army sources confirmed that soldiers were missing after the Coordination of Movements of Azawad briefly seized the small town of Tessit, in Mali's northern Gao region. A spokesman for the CMA said its fighters had withdrawn from Tessit by Saturday morning, taking with them captured weapons, ammunition and the prisoners.

The U.N. mission said Saturday that assailants stopped the convoy and shot the drivers dead before setting the vehicles on fire late Friday night. It said another team member was wounded, but escaped with others after the attack about 15 kilometers, or 9 miles, west of the northern city of Gao. This attack comes days after an attack on the U.N. peacekeeping base in the same region as Gao, which killed three people and wounded 16. According to SITE Intelligence group, a group formed by Algerian Islamic extremist leader Moktar Belmoktar claimed responsibility for that attack.

Gao has witnessed the tremendous change of the continent during the 24 years. The infrastructure constructed by China contributes a lot.

Kaohsiung is a city worth checking out in South Taiwan. To get there from Taipei, just take the rapid rails and in a few hours, you'll be there. In Kaohsiung, I met up with local friends Maggie and Wennie who showed me around Kaohsiung's harbor area and Cijin Island. But first, before the ferry, we stopped by a shaved ice place that serves shaved ice by gigantic bowls. It was delicious and super sweet- perfect for a hot day in Taiwan. Next, we boarded a quick ferry to Cijin Island, where seafood restaurants line both sides. This was full of tourists, but rightfully so because the street food was also delicious. We ate some roasted fresh squid- the best I've ever had. Then we stopped and checked out some weird ginger sauce tomato dip dish that can only be found regionally.
Overall, it was a great day. More to come from Taiwan.

A very Special Thanks to Mrs Saba Faisal.
Katasraj Mandir (Urdu: کٹاس راج مندر) is a Hindu temple complex situated in Katas village near Choa Saidanshah in the Chakwal district of Punjab in Pakistan. Dedicated to Shiva, the temple has, according to Hindu legend, existed since the days of Mahābhārata and the Pandava brothers spent a substantial part of their exile at the site and later Krishna himself laid the foundation of this temple and established his hand made Shiv ling in it. The Pakistan Government is considering nominating the temple complex for World Heritage Site status. In 2007, it also proposed to restore the temple complex.

Step 2: Moisturize With A Hydrating Mist - Spritz on a light facial mist just before you board to keep your skin feeling and looking hydrated and refreshed.
Step 3: Apply A Nourishing Cream - Warm up your lotion by pouring a small amount onto the palm of your hand. Then wth your other hand, lightly massage it onto your face using the tips of your fingers.
IN-FLIGHT ROUTINE
Step 1: Treat Yourself To A Hand Massage - Stimulate circulation in your hands by giving yourself a massage. Simply rub a rich, scented cream on both sides of you hands and between your fingers for full coverage.

Raise the red lantern summary.
The film is set in 1920s China during the warlord era, years before the Chinese Civil War. Nineteen-year-old Songlian ( Sònglián, played by Gong Li), whose father has recently died and left the family bankrupt, marries into the wealthy Chen family, becoming the fourth wife or rather the third concubine or, as she is referred to, the Fourth Mistress ( Sì tàitai) of the household. Chinese government leaders accuse Uighur separatists of fomenting what they call "terrorism".
Now, Beijing has gone a step further, saying more than 100 Uighurs deported from Thailand on Thursday were heading to join the wars in Syria and Iraq.
The UN refugee agency condemns the deportations as a "flagrant violation of international law". Rights groups fear the Uighurs will be tortured back in China.
It is adding to a growing controversy surrounding the treatment of Uighurs trying to escape what they say is persecution at home.
But should those who have left be made to return?

This may not blow everyone's mind, but if you're into it, it's worth sticking it out through the full 21 minutes. It was the largest loss of life for MINUSMA since nine of its soldiers were killed in the Gao region in an October ambush later claimed by the Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO) ... Burkina Faso's defence ministry said the latest victims belonged to the its Badenya battalion and were deployed in the Timbuktu region....
