Holta
Holta is a small farming village in the municipality of Strand in Rogaland county, Norway. The farm is situated on the northern hills overlooking the lake Bjørheimsvatn. It is approximately 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) northeast of the village of Tau and about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of the village of Fiskå. The city of Stavanger lies about 25 kilometres (16 mi) southwest of Holta (across a large fjord).
On 9 August 1961, the Holtaheia Accident took place as a Vickers VC.1 Viking passenger aeroplane, G-AHPM operated by Cunard Eagle Airways, transporting schoolboys from The Archbishop Lanfranc School in Thornton Heath, London, crashed into the mountainside above the farm (Holtaheia). A total of 34 students, two teachers and three crew members were killed.

Exploring Holta Canyon
Holta Canyon was created by the erosion of the river Holta. It extends 3 kilometers with surrounding valley slopes of 100-150 meters and with crystalline waters of depths of around 3 meters. Karst caves created by limestone rocks, stalactites and stalagmites of rare beauty can be found there. Silence and echoes, lush greenery hanging from the slopes above you and beautiful blue waters caressing your feet and creating small waterfalls along the way. The canyon is made also special by the numerous thermal springs, blue and crystalline. The best time to visit is from spring to the beginning of fall, as during periods of heavy rain the river rises, making it quite difficult to walk until the end of the canyon. The Most Spectacular Place In Albania. Holta Canyon. Motorcycle Tour To The Balkans 2022
Hi guys! Our fourth day in Albania begins at the fabulous Kulla Hupi guest house, from where we continue to discover the hidden beauties of Albania, together with the Explore Albania group. Our trip continues on SH 6, winding through incredibly beautiful valleys with amazing sceneries. We arrived to the Holta Canyon in the late afternoon. The canyon was carved by a branch of the Devoll river, between the Bardhaj and Kabash villages. It is 3 km long, 10-15 m wide and the height of the rock walls reaches 350 m. The sulfur thermal springs in the area also feed the canyon's water. It is worth taking a bath in the warm thermal water. There are several caves in the walls of the gorge, here the fauna is beautiful and very rich. It was one of the most beautiful place we saw in our trip to Albania....

Our fourth day in Albania begins at the fabulous Kulla Hupi guest house, from where we continue to discover the hidden beauties of Albania, together with the Explore Albania group.
Our trip continues on SH 6, winding through incredibly beautiful valleys with amazing sceneries. We arrived to the Holta Canyon in the late afternoon. Wir nehmen euch mit auf eine coole Tour durch den Holta Canyon in Albanien.
Der Canyon liegt in einer sehr abseits gelegenen Landschaft., ist aber über eine gute Strasse erreichbar.
Es gibt in dem Canyon einige Passagen die nur durchs Wasser schwimmend zu durchqueren sind.
Die Wanderung durch den Canyon ist vermutlich nur zur trockenen Jahreszeit möglich. An den Spuren kann man erkennen das der Fluß zu anderen Zeiten viel Wasser mit sich führt und in den engen Stellen eine starke Strömung herrschen muss.

We take you on a cool tour through the Holta Canyon in Albania.
The canyon is located in a very remote landscape, but is accessible via a good road.
There are some passages in the canyon that can only be crossed by swimming through the water.
The hike through the canyon is probably only possible in the dry season. From the tracks you can see that the river carries a lot of water at other times and there must be a strong current in the narrow places.

Holta Canyon was created by the erosion of the river Holta. It extends 3 kilometers with surrounding valley slopes of 100-150 meters and with crystalline waters of depths of around 3 meters.
Karst caves created by limestone rocks, stalactites and stalagmites of rare beauty can be found there.
Silence and echoes, lush greenery hanging from the slopes above you and beautiful blue waters caressing your feet and creating small waterfalls along the way.
The canyon is made also special by the numerous thermal springs, blue and crystalline.
The best time to visit is from spring to the beginning of fall, as during periods of heavy rain the river rises, making it quite difficult to walk until the end of the canyon.
The penetration of sunlight into canyon from a hight of 150 m, causes light to collide, refract and scatter in rocks and water, creating inside the canyon a spectacle of colours and a magical atmosphere.
Holta Canyon is considered one of the most impressive beauties of Albania.

Our fourth day in Albania begins at the fabulous Kulla Hupi guest house, from where we continue to discover the hidden beauties of Albania, together with the Explore Albania group.
Our trip continues on SH 6, winding through incredibly beautiful valleys with amazing sceneries. We arrived to the Holta Canyon in the late afternoon. The canyon was carved by a branch of the Devoll river, between the Bardhaj and Kabash villages. It is 3 km long, 10-15 m wide and the height of the rock walls reaches 350 m. The sulfur thermal springs in the area also feed the canyon's water. It is worth taking a bath in the warm thermal water. There are several caves in the walls of the gorge, here the fauna is beautiful and very rich. It was one of the most beautiful place we saw in our trip to Albania.

Holta is a small farming village in the municipality of Strand in Rogaland county, Norway. The farm is situated on the northern hills overlooking the lake Bjørheimsvatn. It is approximately 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) northeast of the village of Tau and about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of the village of Fiskå. The city of Stavanger lies about 25 kilometres (16 mi) southwest of Holta (across a large fjord).
On 9 August 1961, the Holtaheia Accident took place as a Vickers VC.1 Viking passenger aeroplane, G-AHPM operated by Cunard Eagle Airways, transporting schoolboys from The Archbishop Lanfranc School in Thornton Heath, London, crashed into the mountainside above the farm (Holtaheia). A total of 34 students, two teachers and three crew members were killed.
