Chris Lane

Chris Lane (born November 9, 1984) is an American singer and songwriter.

Early life and career beginnings

Lane grew up in Kernersville, North Carolina and has a twin brother named Corey. While attending Glenn High School him and his brother played football and baseball, and both went on to play baseball in college. Due to Lane having a lot of surgeries it hurt his chances of playing ball so he learned how to play the guitar. In his hometown he worked in landscaping and started a cover band. In 2007, Lane and his brother auditioned for the seventh season of American Idol but did not make it to Hollywood.

Career

Before pursuing a solo career, Lane fronted the Chris Lane Band. Their album Let's Ride charted on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart in 2012. He moved to Nashville in 2013.Lane has opened for The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Lee Brice, Chris Young and Brantley Gilbert, among others. In 2014, he opened for Florida Georgia Line on their This Is How We Roll tour.

Lane's debut single, "Broken Windshield View", was released to country radio on June 10, 2014 via Big Loud Mountain. The song was written by Rodney Clawson, Shane Minor and David Lee Murphy and produced by Joey Moi. It was featured on Sirius XM's The Highway and iTunes' New and Noteworthy. It sold 11,000 downloads in its first week of release and debuted at number 45 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. As of August 2014 it has sold 43,000 downloads. It will be included on an upcoming extended play.

La Vernia, Texas

La Vernia is a city in Wilson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,034 in the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The area known as present-day La Vernia was first inhabited by indigenous American Indians of the Coahuiltecan speaking peoples of Texas and subsequently by nomadic bands of Apache and Comanche who migrated to Texas in the 17th century. One of the earliest land grants made was to Erastus "Deaf" Smith, also known as Deaf Smith. Deaf Smith married Guadalupe Ruiz Durán, a Mexican citizen who was descended from one of the original Tejano or Spanish Texas families; and as such, received a land grant from the Mexican government on the Cibolo River, north of present-day La Vernia in 1825. This area remained primarily unsettled by Europeans until 1837, when veterans from the recent wars of Independence from Mexico began to arrive.

W. R. Wiseman of Mississippi, who organized a Presbyterian church at the site around 1851, is said to have named the place Live Oak Grove. Although, in 1853 William Claiborne Rector was the postmaster at the local post office and during this time the town was still called Post Oak.

Ferris Independent School District

Ferris Independent School District is a public school district based in Ferris, Texas (USA).

In addition to Ferris, the district serves the community of Trumbull and rural areas in northeastern Ellis County. A small portion of southeastern Dallas County also lies within the district.

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.
