Loligo reynaudii

Loligo reynaudii, commonly known as the Cape Hope squid, is a 20–30 cm long squid belonging to the family Loliginidae. In South Africa it is known as either calamari or chokka.

It was previously treated as a subspecies of Loligo vulgaris, the European squid.

Distribution

It occurs in coastal South African waters from False Bay to Port Elizabeth and as far as Port Alfred. This species lives from sea level to depths of 200 m (660 ft).

Description

This animals has an elongated slender body with eight short arms and two very long retractile tentacles, all of which have suckers. It has relatively long diamond-shaped fins, which run more than half the length of the mantle. Its mantle is up to 40 cm (16 in) long. Its eyes are covered with a membrane which is part of the skin covering the head.

Ecology

The South African squid is an important predator of small fishes. It forms dense breeding aggregations in bays between Cape Point and Port Elizabeth in summer, laying sausage-shaped bunches of egg bundles on the sea floor. The young are transported west by the Agulhas Current and mature on the Agulhas Bank. They then migrate eastwards as adults back to their spawning grounds.

Hoi Hoi

"Hoi Hoi" (호이 호이) is a song released by South Korean sub-unit trio Rainbow Pixie. It is the debut single of the unit. The song was released on January 12, 2012.

Background

On January 3, it was revealed by their agency, DSP Media, that a unit of the group will be formed as a trio. On the same day, a teaser image was revealed on DSP Media's website with the name of the unit, called "Rainbow Pixie". On January 4, another image was revealed with the members of the group, the unit is composed of SeungAh, Jisook and HyunYoung. It was also announced the release date of the single for January 12. To describe the concept of the single, DSP Media stated “‘Pixie’ will present a cute and fun stage from the members that were usually hard to see regularly on TV.” On January 5, the jacket cover of the single was revealed.

On February 15, it was announced the song will serve as a bonus track for Rainbow's third Japanese single "Gonna Gonna Go!".

Composition

The song was composed by Haylie and produced by Park Se Hyun and Blacc Hole. Park Se Hyun also produced the song "Sweet Dream", from the mini album with same name of Rainbow.

Char Chokka Hoi Hoi

Char Chokka Hoi Hoi (Bengali: চার ছক্কা হৈ হৈ; English: Fours, Sixes, Fun and Games) was the official theme song of the 2014 ICC World Twenty20. It was released worldwide on 20 February 2014. Most of the song is in Bengali while some phrases in the opening lines are in English. The song is composed by famous Bangladeshi composer and artist Fuad al Muqtadir and has been sung by an ensemble of young vocalists, namely Dilshad Nahar Kona, Dilshad Karim Elita, Pantha Konai, Johan Alamgir, Sanvir Huda, Badhon Sarkar Puja and Kaushik Hossain Taposh.

Reception

The song received a mixed reaction in Bangladesh. It was widely criticized on the grounds that the lyrics and the subsequent music video in particular, did not adequately capture the essence of Bangladeshi culture and heritage. Despite this, the song became hugely popular in a short while due to its catchy tune and energetic beat. A competition held by the ICC, which invited university students from the three host cities (Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet) to create and submit their own dance videos, helped to further popularise the song.

Chokka Thangam

Chokka Thangam (English: Pure Gold) is a 2003 Tamil film written and directed by K. Bhagyaraj. The film was produced by G. Venkateswaran under GV Films. The film stars Vijayakanth and Soundarya in lead roles with Uma, Goundamani, Senthil, T. P. Gajendran and S. S. Chandran playing supporting roles. The film's soundtrack was composed by Deva. The film was released on 15 January 2003 to mixed reviews from critics.
