Today outside Moe's cafe and T-Bay Surf Club as a woman and her dog got swept away by a storm surge on Tramore beach. The sea had gone quiet for over 30 minutes when suddenly a large wave came over the sea wall and caught the lady and her dog out. When you're out looking at storms be very careful as the ocean is a very powerful force and can surge at any time. Keep well back from the coastline. This could happen to anyone at any stage. With more storms on the way please stay safe and Always respect the Ocean!
I had been asked to remove this video from social media but I feel strongly on putting this video up to show how easy someone can find themselves in trouble when they're not vigilant around the sea.
The woman and her well looked after dog are ok now. They simply got caught out by the power of the ocean and this can happen to anyone. Stay safe out there people.

The Copper Coast European Geopark is located on the South East coast of
Ireland, between Tramore and Dungarvan in County Waterford. It extends
between Fenor in the east to Stradbally in the west and up to Dunhill in the north.
The Copper Coast gets its name from the 19th Century copper mines that lie
at its heart.
It comprises some 25 kilometres of spectacular coastline consisting of
scalloped beaches and coves buttressed and enclosed by rocky headlands.
Oceans, volcanoes, deserts and ice sheets all combined to create the rocks,
which provide the physical foundation of the natural and cultural landscapes
of the Copper Coast.
The aim of the website is to present the different facets of the heritage (natural,
built and cultural) and the activities (education, tourism, events) of the Geopark,
to invite you to visit this beautiful area of the South East of Ireland, also called
the Sunny South East.

Tramore
Tramore (/trəˈmoʊr/; Irish: Trá Mhór, meaning "big strand/beach") is a seaside town in County Waterford on the southeast coast of Ireland. A small fishing village until the arrival of the railway in 1853, the town has continually expanded since. Initially the town flourished as a tourist destination and latterly it has developed as a seaside satellite town of Waterford City, which is 13 km to the North. Waterford Airport is located about 6 km northeast.
The town is situated on the north-western corner of Tramore Bay on a hill that slopes down to the strand, or sand spit, that divides the bay. Behind the spit lies the tidal lagoon known as the Back Strand. Tramore has an imposing Gothic Revival Catholic Church (which is dominated by an asymmetrical tower and spire), on a monumental site overlooking the town, built 1856–1871 by J. J. McCarthy.
The area within a 16 km (10 mi) radius of Tramore is an area rich in megalithic structures (e.g. Ballindud Cromlech; Ballynageeragh Cromlech; Knockeen Dolmen; Gaulstown Dolmen), signifying habitation long before Christianity.
