Padded cell

A padded cell - or Personal Safety Room - is a cell in a psychiatric hospital with cushions lining the walls. The padding is an attempt to prevent a patient from hurting themselves by hitting their head (or other bodily parts) on the hard surface of the walls. In most cases, persons are not placed in padded cells voluntarily.

A padded cell is sometimes colloquially known as a "rubber room", seclusion room, time out room, calming room, personal safety room among others.

Description

Most padded cells or "Personal Safety Rooms" are the same size as a single room, about 10 feet from front to back and about 8 feet wide, and are designed for short-term, single occupancy. The walls and floor are covered with padding, which is typically four inches in thickness. The walls are usually covered with cork crumb filled pouches made of strong canvas or leather, which is then covered with rubberized paint. The padded floor is covered in leather and the door to the cell is commonly made of very strong wood or wood reinforced with steel. The door, also padded on the inside, may have an observation port which allows supervising medical staff to have a full, uninterrupted view of the room and its occupant. The door has no knob or handle on the inside, and is typically secured by a strong lock which can only be opened from the outside by authorized personnel.

Joe Budden

Joe Budden (born August 31, 1980) is an American rapper from Jersey City, New Jersey, who, in addition to being a solo artist, is a member of the American hip hop supergroup Slaughterhouse, alongside fellow rappers Royce da 5'9", Joell Ortiz, and Crooked I.

His most commercially successful single is the 2003 hit song "Pump It Up", from his self-titled album, which contains production from Just Blaze. He was formerly signed to major record label Def Jam, but left for personal reasons and for them pushing back his album releases. After his splitting from Def Jam, he began recording and releasing mixtapes and albums on independent labels. He released No Love Lost (2013). His follow-up album "Some Love Lost" was released November 4, 2014. Most recently, he released "All Love Lost" on October 16, 2015. Budden also co-stars on the VH1 reality show Love & Hip Hop.

Life and career

Early life

Budden was born in Harlem, New York. but was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. Uninterested in school, he began abusing drugs. After an emotional confrontation with his mother, Budden willingly went into rehab on July 3, 1997. Budden began freestyling, first at his high school with acquaintances against whom he claims that he always won battles. He eventually made appearances on several New York mixtapes with the likes of DJ Clue, DJ Kayslay, and Cutmaster C.

Room

A room is any distinguishable space within a structure. Usually, a room is separated from other spaces or passageways by interior walls; moreover, it is separated from outdoor areas by an exterior wall, sometimes with a door. Historically the use of rooms dates at least to early Minoan cultures about 2200 BC, where excavations on Santorini, Greece at Akrotiri reveal clearly defined rooms within certain structures.

Historical room types

In early structures, diverse room types could be identified to include bedrooms, kitchens, bathing rooms, reception rooms, and other specialized uses. The aforementioned Akrotiri excavations reveal rooms sometimes built above other rooms connected by staircases, bathrooms with alabaster appliances such as washbasins, bathing tubs, and toilets, all connected to an elaborate twin plumbing systems of ceramic pipes for cold and hot water separately. Ancient Rome manifested very complex building forms with a variety of room types, including some of the earliest examples of rooms for indoor bathing. The Anasazi civilization also had an early complex development of room structures, probably the oldest in North America, while the Maya of Central America had very advanced room configurations as early as several hundred AD. By at least the early Han Dynasty in China (e.g. approximately 200 BC),comfort room complex multi-level building forms emerged, particularly for religious and public purposes; these designs featured many roomed structures and included vertical connections of rooms.

The label's online store is the first genre-specific digital download store specializing in hip hop music. It focuses on independent labels and artists through the implementation of a new user-generated content module that allowed artists to upload content directly to the site for immediate purchase. Amalgam Digital also houses an exclusive independent record label by the same name, specializing in hip hop music and distribution. In an April 2008 issue, The Source proclaimed that Amalgam Digital has "its finger on the pulse of Hip-Hop's future."

History

Based in East Boston, the Amalgam Digital label is distributed exclusively by Amalgam Entertainment LLC, a distribution company that offers management, marketing, and promotional services. As an independent label, Amalgam Digital been home to such artists as Max B, Saigon, Curren$y, Chuuwee, Joe Budden, Peedi Crakk, Tash, Kurious, Juggaknots, Tame One, and Lil B.
