Two open fire at cops, police in denial mode
TNN | May 27, 2016, 04.35 AM ISTFaridkot: Two occupants of a car were allegedly involved in a shoot-out with policemen in Faridkot on Thursday evening. Sources said that both were injured in gunfire exchange, but police denied the incident. Sources said that gangster Davinder Bambiha could be among the injured occupants of the car who opened fire at cops. Bambiha is accused to have killed former student leader Ravi Khwajke of Ludhiana. The police, however, denied that Bambiha was present in the car.
Eyewitnesses said two persons in a Hyundai Verna car crashed into a police barricade near Bassi Chowk in Faridkot around 3.30pm. Policemen in plain clothes followed the car and fired at it. The car occupants also fired back at the police team. After some time of gunfire exchange, the car was later found abandoned near Faridkot Cantonment with blood stains on it. Both occupants fled leaving the car behind. When contacted, Faridkot senior superintendent of police Sukhminder Singh Mann denied any encounter and presence of Bambiha in the car. He said that police only tried to stop the vehicle.
