A globe is a three-dimensional, spherical, scale model of Earth (terrestrial globe or geographical globe) or other celestial body such as a planet or moon. While models can be made of objects with arbitrary or irregular shapes, the term globe is used only for models of objects that are approximately spherical. The word “globe” comes from the Latin word globus, meaning round mass or sphere. Some terrestrial globes include relief to show mountains and other features on the Earth’s surface.
There are also globes, called celestial globes or astronomical globes, which are spherical representations of the celestial sphere, showing the apparent positions of the stars and constellations in the sky.
Flat maps are created using a map projection that inevitably introduces an increasing amount of distortion the larger the area that the map shows. A globe is the only representation of the Earth that does not distort either the shape or the size of large features – land masses, bodies of water, etc.

In physical anthropology, protoculture is the passing of behaviours from one generation to another among non-human primates. These cultures are very rudimentary, and do not exhibit complex cultural technology.
For example, tool usage is learned between generations within chimpanzee troupes. One troupe of chimpanzees may exhibit a learned behavior unique from another troupe of chimpanzees, such as various tool usage. Some chimpanzee troupes have been observed consuming aspilia. Possibly for medicinal purposes, because it has been seen to remove intestinal parasites, and is otherwise unpalatable.
Richard Shane Reynolds (born March 26, 1968 in Bastrop, Louisiana) is a former starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Houston Astros (1992–2002), Atlanta Braves (2003) and Arizona Diamondbacks (2004). He batted and threw right-handed.
Reynolds attended Ouachita Christian School in Monroe, Louisiana, where he was a three-time All-State selection, and later attended The University of Texas where he was a two-time Southwest Conference first team selection. Reynolds' high school coach has often made the comment that Reynolds was a far better basketball player than baseball.
Reynolds' major league debut came in 1992, going 1–3 in 8 games. In 1993 he appeared in just 5 games. 1994 marked Reynolds first full season in the majors, pitching out of the bullpen for most of the season. Reynolds pitched in 33 games while making 14 starts also for the Astros.
In 1995, Reynolds won 10 games while in 1996 he upped that win total by 6, winning 16 games while posting an ERA of 3.65 in 35 starts.
North America is a continent entirely within the Northern Hemisphere and almost all within the Western Hemisphere. It can also be considered a northern subcontinent of the Americas. It is bordered to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, to the west and south by the Pacific Ocean, and to the southeast by South America and the Caribbean Sea.
North America covers an area of about 24,709,000 square kilometers (9,540,000 square miles), about 16.5% of the earth's land area and about 4.8% of its total surface. North America is the third largest continent by area, following Asia and Africa, and the fourth by population after Asia, Africa, and Europe.
In 2013, its population was estimated at nearly 565 million people in 23 independent states, or about 7.5% of the world's population, if nearby islands (most notably the Caribbean) are included.
North America was reached by its first human populations during the last glacial period, via crossing the Bering land bridge. The so-called Paleo-Indian period is taken to have lasted until about 10,000 years ago (the beginning of the Archaic or Meso-Indian period). The Classic stage spans roughly the 6th to 13th centuries. The Pre-Columbian era ended with the arrival of European settlers during the Age of Discovery and the Early Modern period. Present-day cultural and ethnic patterns reflect different kind of interactions between European colonists, indigenous peoples, African slaves and their descendants. European influences are strongest in the northern parts of the continent while indigenous and African influences are relatively stronger in the south. Because of the history of colonialism, most North Americans speak English, Spanish or French and societies and states commonly reflect Western traditions.

Shane Mahoney speech from the SCI Banquet in Northwest Washington. Wildlife conservation is not an easy path to traverse. History has demonstrated that it is, in fact, rather difficult. Our forebears in this mission prevailed by acts of faith and wisdom not certainty and guidance. Eventually this path will require a traveler to take at least one leap of faith. It is the responsibility of all who consider themselves wildlife conservationists to continue with efforts, even when the path is uncertain.
