#Pharmakon’s title refers to an Albanian scam where doctors profit from patients who buy drugs, but the film is more Roy Andersson than issue drama. The colour scheme is white-beige (director Joni Shanaj studied in Scandinavia). The first thing we see is a brutal slaughter of a donkey (and, later, an image of Robert Bresson’s donkey film Au hazard Balthazar). Soon we’re following a blond woozy young man as walks and watches a girl She’s the dead spit of Kim Novak in Vertigo - and is filmed as if she is. The buildings in the film are like those in Antonioni’s films, so Pharmakon’s cinephile credentials are intact. But it’s the somnambulant melancholia that grips, the awkwardness of the couple’s bodies, their hair, the way they speak to each other. The young man’s father is a creepy presence throughout, but then he gives a speech about solitude that could have been written by Jean-Claude Carriere. #Branko, a melancholy young man, has returned to his native country after studying abroad. He now runs a drugstore in a desolate suburb outside Tirana. Most things in his life, including the drugstore, are owned by his father Dr. Sokrat, a highly respected cancer specialst. Branko is shaken out of his rut when he meets Sara, a nurse who also turns out be dependent on Sokrat. [Pharmakon] is an assured debut about father-son conflict. Branko’s quest for solid truths also makes the film a coming of age story and even though Shanaj eschews political lecturing, it is obvious that the cynical, patriarchal system Branko is fighting on a personal level also symbolises corruption, power hunger and generational strife in Albanian society at large. A new preview to the documentary movie about our national hero Skënderbeu. The title of the documentary is "Scanderbeg: Warrior-King of Albania".
The video is longer than the first one(4 Min.) and you see some first scenes from the actual documentary.
But remember: This is not gonna be a Hollywood cinema blockbuster or something. It's gonna be a nice little documentary about Skenderbeu, so dont expect to much. Those people who did this are real patriots who spent a lot of money and time to make this possible, so people can learn something about a real hero who saved europe.

The cinema of Albania had its start in the years 1911—1912.
The first public showing to occur in Albania was a little known title, Paddy the Reliable; a comical story detailing the afterlife events of a man who was so distracted by trivial matters that he was unable to attend his own funeral. These showings began in the cities of Shkodër and Korçë; these showings were of foreign films. The first Albanian films were mostly documentaries, the first film being about the Monastir Congress that sanctioned the Albanian alphabet in 1908.
After World War II, the communist government founded the Albanian Film Institute in 1945, which became Kinostudio Shqipëria e Re in 1952. This was followed by the first Albanian epic film, Skënderbeu, a cooperation with Soviet artists chronicling the life and fight of Albanian national hero Skanderbeg. The film won an award from the Cannes Film Festival. Two other known films from the time are Fëmijët e saj (Her sons) and Tana. Tana is known as the first Albanian movie, and also as the first movie that has a kiss scene in the history of the Albanian movies.

Albania (
i/ælˈbeɪniə/ al-BAY-nee-ə, Albanian: Shqipëri/Shqipëria; Gheg Albanian: Shqipnia), officially known as the Republic of Albania (Albanian: Republika e Shqipërisë pronounced Albanian pronunciation: [ɾɛpuˈblika ɛ ʃcipəˈɾiːs]), is a country in Southern Europe. It is bordered by Montenegro to the northwest, Kosovo to the northeast, the Republic of Macedonia to the east and Greece to the south and southeast. It has a coast on the Adriatic Sea to the west, and on the Ionian Sea to the southwest. It is less than 72 km (45 mi) from Italy, across the Strait of Otranto which links the Adriatic Sea to the Ionian Sea.
Albania is a member of the UN, NATO, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Council of Europe, World Trade Organisation, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and one of the founding members of the Union for the Mediterranean. Albania has been a potential candidate for accession to the European Union since January 2003, and it formally applied for EU membership on 28 April 2009.

#Pharmakon’s title refers to an Albanian scam where doctors profit from patients who buy drugs, but the film is more Roy Andersson than issue drama. The colour scheme is white-beige (director Joni Shanaj studied in Scandinavia). The first thing we see is a brutal slaughter of a donkey (and, later, an image of Robert Bresson’s donkey film Au hazard Balthazar). Soon we’re following a blond woozy young man as walks and watches a girl She’s the dead spit of Kim Novak in Vertigo - and is filmed as if she is. The buildings in the film are like those in Antonioni’s films, so Pharmakon’s cinephile credentials are intact. But it’s the somnambulant melancholia that grips, the awkwardness of the couple’s bodies, their hair, the way they speak to each other. The young man’s father is a creepy presence throughout, but then he gives a speech about solitude that could have been written by Jean-Claude Carriere. #Branko, a melancholy young man, has returned to his native country after studying abroad. He now runs a drugstore in a desolate suburb outside Tirana. Most things in his life, including the drugstore, are owned by his father Dr. Sokrat, a highly respected cancer specialst. Branko is shaken out of his rut when he meets Sara, a nurse who also turns out be dependent on Sokrat. [Pharmakon] is an assured debut about father-son conflict. Branko’s quest for solid truths also makes the film a coming of age story and even though Shanaj eschews political lecturing, it is obvious that the cynical, patriarchal system Branko is fighting on a personal level also symbolises corruption, power hunger and generational strife in Albanian society at large.
