Michael Gore (born March 5, 1951) is an American composer.
Gore, along with lyricist Dean Pitchford, won the Oscar in 1981 for best original song for "Fame" from the film of the same title. He also won the award that year for best original score. Gore is the younger brother of late singer/songwriter Lesley Gore.
Gore wrote the music for the notorious Broadway flop Carrie - The Musical. Two of his songs, with lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, were featured in the 2003 movie Camp.
He also composed the theme and score for the 1983 hit film Terms of Endearment starring Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger, notching a hit on the Adult Contemporary chart (and briefly the pop charts) under his own name with the "Theme" from this film.
Terms of Endearment is a 1983 American comedy-drama film adapted from the novel of the same name by Larry McMurtry, directed, written, and produced by James L. Brooks and starring Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger, Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, Jeff Daniels, and John Lithgow. The film covers 30 years of the relationship between Aurora Greenway (MacLaine) and her daughter Emma (Winger).
The film received eleven Academy Award nominations and won five. Brooks won the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) while MacLaine won the Academy Award for Best Actress and Nicholson won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. In addition, it won four Golden Globes: Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Actress in a Drama (MacLaine), Best Supporting Actor (Nicholson), and Best Screenplay (Brooks).
Aurora Greenway and her daughter Emma are both searching for deep romantic love. Beginning with Emma's early childhood, Aurora reveals how difficult and caring she can be by nearly climbing into Emma's crib in order to make sure her daughter is breathing—only to be reassured when Emma starts crying (after being woken up). After the death of Aurora's husband and Emma's father Rudyard, Aurora and Emma develop an extremely close love-hate mother/daughter relationship as Emma grows up.
Gore may refer to:
Michael /ˈmaɪkəl/ is a male given name that comes from the Hebrew: מִיכָאֵל / מיכאל (Mīkhāʼēl, pronounced [miχaˈʔel]), derived from the question מי כאל mī kāʼēl, meaning "Who is like God?" (literally, "Who is like El?). In English, it is sometimes shortened to Mike, Mikey, Mickey, or Mick.
Female forms of Michael include Michelle, Michele, Michaela, Mechelle, Micheline, and Michaelle, although Michael is occasionally seen as a female name; women named Michael include actresses Michael Learned and Michael Michele. Another form is Mychal, which can either be a male or female name.
Patronymic surnames that come from Michael include Michaels, Carmichael, MacMichael, McMichael, Micallef, Michaelson, Mikkelsen, DiMichele, Mikhaylov, Mykhaylenko, Mikeladze, Michels, and Mitchell.
The name first appears in the Hebrew Bible in the Book of Numbers, 13:13 where Sethur the son of Michael is one of 12 spies sent into the Land of Canaan. The archangel Michael features in the Book of Daniel 12:1, and in the Qur'an as Mikhail.
Dean Pitchford (born July 29, 1951, Honolulu, Hawaii) is an American songwriter, screenwriter, director, actor, and novelist. His work has earned him an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award, as well as nominations for three additional Oscars, two more Golden Globes, eight Grammy Awards and two Tony Awards.
Pitchford was born in Honolulu, where he attended Catholic schools, graduating in 1968 from Saint Louis High School. He began his performance career as an actor and singer with the Honolulu Community Theatre (now Diamond Head Theatre), the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra and the Honolulu Theatre for Youth, among others. While studying at Yale University, Pitchford performed with numerous campus drama groups, but his focus gradually turned off-campus, where he worked with the Wooster Square Revival, an experimental theatre company that offered acting opportunities to recovering addicts and alcoholics.
In 1969, Pitchford returned to Honolulu as an assistant to authors Faye Hammel and Sylvan Levey in updating the popular guidebook Hawai’i on $5 and $10 A Day, and researching TWA’s Budget Guide to Hawai’i, the first of a series of guidebooks that would eventually metamorphose into the popular series TWA Getaway Guides.

For film music aficionados the 1980s was "the best of times, the worst of times". Since EASY RIDER and THE GRADUATE (both of the late 1960s), films throughout the 1970s - where appropriate or not, favored pop songs as underscore while classically oriented composers such as Bernard Herrmann, Elmer Bernstein and Jerry Goldsmith found themselves often relegated to smaller, less prestigious theatrical and TV assignments. Bill Conti's ROCKY (1976) and John Williams' STAR WARS (1977) would cause an industry-wide paradigm shift, the glorious and grand "orchestral score" (ironically it too where appropriate or not) making a comeback. But while the films themselves benefited, soundtrack albums of the period didn't always follow suit. Lauded works such as THE GOONIES (by Dave Grusin), THE KARATE...

perfect beautiful music LYRICS Here is a song from the wrong side of town Where I'm bound to the ground by the loneliest sound And it pounds from within and is pinning me down Here is a page from the emptiest stage A cage or the heaviest cross ever made A gauge of the deadliest trap ever laid And I thank you for bringing me here For showing me home For singing these tears Finally I've found that I belong here The heat and the sickliest sweet smelling sheets That cling to the backs of my knees and my feet Well I'm drowning in time to a desperate beat And I thank you for bringing me here For showing me home For singing these tears Finally I've found that I belong Feels like home I should have known From my first breath God send the only true friend I call mine Pretend that I'll ma...

Counterfeit e.p. is the first solo recording by Martin L. Released in 1989, Counterfeit is a six-song E.P. of cover songs, hence the name, implying that the songs were not written by Gore. Counterfeit was recorded during a band hiatus after recording and touring for the album Music for the Masses; bandmate Alan Wilder also recorded and released Hydrology under the pseudonym Recoil during this period. «Although Martin Gore had written almost every song in Depeche Mode's catalog since the band's second album, 1982's A Broken Frame, his first solo effort is an EP of remakes. Its gonna be another lonely night
One more and I'm gonna die
Wired out waiting for the sign
Coz your a risk and I'm borderline
All I know is I've been sitting with this fire and it burns inside
Man if you want me to walk your line then dont stop at 8 no lets take it
To the 9's
I know that we should lay out and love
Because man I really need it
To the 9's
I may be full but It's not enough
Come and show me how to feel it
All or nothing
You know thats how I play the game and I'm ready now
Man if you want me, come cross the line and
Slide up to 8 then lets take it
