The Nine Days is a religious observance in Judaism that takes place during the first nine days of the Jewish month of Av (corresponding to July/August). The Nine Days begin on Rosh Chodesh Av ("First of Av") and culminates on the public fast day of Tisha B'Av ("Ninth of Av").
The Nine Days are part of a larger period of time known as The Three Weeks, which begin with the public fast day of the Seventeenth of Tammuz — commemorated in Judaism for the time when the forces of Nebuchadnezzar of Babylonia finally broke through the defensive walls surrounding Jerusalem, generally accepted as happening in 586 BCE — and end with the public fast day of Tisha B'Av — when the Babylonians finally destroyed the First Temple in 597 BCE and when the Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. During the entire Three Weeks, certain activities are forbidden to Jews by Jewish law in order to decrease joy and inspire mourning over the destruction of Temple.
The Talmud says, "When the month of Av begins, we [i.e. Jews] reduce our joy." The Nine Days inaugurates an even greater level of communal and personal mourning in recognition of the many tragedies and calamities that befell the Jewish people at this time. These tragedies include the destruction of both Temples, the expulsion of the Jews from Spain on Tisha B'Av 1492, and the outbreak of World War I on Tisha B'Av 1914, which overturned many Jewish communities. The Nine Days are considered an inauspicious time, fraught with danger even in our day and age.
Nine Days (stylized as ninedays) is an American rock band from Long Island, New York. It was formed in 1994 by John Hampson and Brian Desveaux, and released three independent albums in the 1990s before their mainstream debut album, The Madding Crowd, released in 2000. The band scored a hit in the United States from the album The Madding Crowd, with the single "Absolutely (Story of a Girl)", which reached number one.
A second mainstream album, So Happily Unsatisfied, was scheduled for release in 2003. However, due to complications with their record label, Sony, the album was never actually released as the band was no longer in possession of the rights of the songs. In 2006, Nine Days' official website updated with a statement that the album would finally see an actual release, but no other specifics were given.
After the split with Sony, the band released another album under their own record label. The album, titled Flying The Corporate Jet, can be purchased at the bands' website.
A day is a unit of time. In common usage, it is an interval equal to 24 hours. It also can mean the consecutive period of time during which the Sun is above the horizon, also known as daytime. The period of time during which the Earth completes one rotation with respect to the Sun is called a solar day.
Several definitions of this universal human concept are used according to context, need and convenience. In 1967, the second was redefined in terms of the wavelength of light, and was designated the SI base unit of time. The unit of measurement "day", redefined in 1967 as 86 400 SI seconds and symbolized d, is not an SI unit, but is accepted for use with SI. A civil day is usually also 86 400 seconds, plus or minus a possible leap second in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), and, in some locations, occasionally plus or minus an hour when changing from or to daylight saving time. The word day may also refer to a day of the week or to a calendar date, as in answer to the question "On which day?" The life patterns of humans and many other species are related to Earth's solar day and the day-night cycle (see circadian rhythms).

Nine Days is a really good 90s pop rock band from Long Island, New York that is famous for it's song Absolutely (Story of a Girl), but didn't get a whole lot of publicity beyond that. I was unable to find most of their songs, so I thought I'd share them with everyone. This album, The Madding Crowd is The more popular of their two more famous albums, alongside So Happily Unsatisfied, and this album is undoubtedly one of their best. If you want to listen to more of their music, view my profile or subscribe, and their Music can be bought off of iTunes as well as other similar applications. Lyrics: In my heart, sent my confession my condolence You're indefinite you're incompetent inconsiderate You're so childish I will push you out of what is real out of my head You can stick and drown at you...

Lyrics: Shadows they fall on the stage of your own life Trailing behind footsteps There's comfort in ghosts who are no longer with you Hiding behind your death I let you down, you've lost your taste I'm losing ground, I fall from grace Well just listen, Sometimes You gotta set free what you love just to bring it back Would you ever lose me Would you ever let go for that And if the love is real you gotta let yourself go Just to bring it back Sometimes Just to bring it back Hiding inside my asylum I'm always Hanging on by a thread I can't expect you to respect me until I've learned to respect myself I've let you down, you've lost your taste I'm losing ground, I miss your face Just listen, well just listen, Sometimes You gotta set free what you love just to...
A very brief overview of the Halachos of mourning during the Nine Days - from Rosh Chodesh Av through Tisha B'Av.
Rabbi Ephraim Z. Buchwald, Director of Jewish Treats parent organization, the National Jewish Outreach Program, shares his personal thoughts and prayers for the Jewish people as we enter the mournful Jewish month of Av, which begins Sunday night, July 31, 2011. People say that March comes in like a lion. But it seems that it has been the Hebrew month of Tammuz that came in like a lion. First the world learned about Leiby Kletzy, the 8-year-old Jewish boy who was murdered after getting lost in his Brooklyn neighborhood. Then came the massacre in Norway on July 22nd that left 77 dead. The heat wave that has hit the United States and injured many. It is incredible what is going on in the world. Rabbi Buchwald admits that the month of Tammuz is always a fretful month for him and for a lot ...
The nine days from the start of the Jewish month of Av until the holiday of Tisha B'Av (literally meaning the 9th of Av), are a period of great mourning for the Jewish people. At this time in Jewish history, the destruction of the Holy Temple took place, as did a series of other tragedies. During this period of mourning the Jewish people are subdued. We don't engage in joyous occasions such as weddings, listening to music or do other joyous activities. This is to get us into a mournful mood. Rabbi Ephraim Z. Buchwald, Director of NJOP, explains that he doesn't want to focus on the negative. What is more important is that we don't only fast and repent during this time. The real way to heal this sorrow is to do acts of chesed (kindness). We should focus during this mourning period on increas...

First album of this German underground rock band from Mannheim. Their vocalist Walter Seyffer had fronted numerous bands during the 1960's. He claims to have established Nine Days Wonder in 1966, -then known as The Graves- who gradually transformed into Nine Days Wonder proper in February 1970. Walter got together an unlikely collection of musicians from Germany, Austria, Ireland and England, to create a diverse rock fusion encompassing all forms of Krautrock and showing distinct Frank Zappa and British progressive rock influences.

When I was younger man I hadn't a care
Foolin' around, hitting the town, growing my hair
You came along and stole my heart when you entered my life
Ooh girl you got what it takes wanna make you my wife
Since then I never looked back
It's almost like living a dream
And ooh I love you
You came along from far away and found me here
I was playin' around, feeling down, hiding my fear
You picked me up from off the floor and gave me a smile
You said you're much too young, your life ain't begun, let's walk for awhile
And as my head was spinnin' 'round
I gazed into your eyes
Ooh I want you
Thank you girl for being a friend
And shinin' your light in my life
'cause ooh I need you
As my head was comin' round
I gazed into your eyes
And thought ooh I want you
Thanks again for being my friend
And straightenin' out my life
'cause ooh I need you
Since then I never looked back
It's almost like livin' a dream
Ooh I got you
If ever a man had it all
It would have to be me
And ooh I love you
