Basic may refer to:
The basic step, basic movement, basic pattern, or simply basic is the dance move that defines the character of a particular dance. It sets the rhythm of the dance; it is the default move to which a dancer returns, when not performing any other moves. For some dances it is sufficient to know the basic step performed in different handholds and dance positions to enjoy it socially.
Most traditional partner dances have only one basic step which can be easily mastered. Others, such as West Coast Swing, have multiple basic steps, any of which can theoretically be selected by the leader.
BASIC (an acronym for Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) is a family of general-purpose, high-level programming languages whose design philosophy emphasizes ease of use.
In 1964, John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz designed the original BASIC language at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. They wanted to enable students in fields other than science and mathematics to use computers. At the time, nearly all use of computers required writing custom software, which was something only scientists and mathematicians tended to learn.
Versions of BASIC became widespread on microcomputers in the mid-1970s and 1980s. Microcomputers usually shipped with BASIC, often in the machine's firmware. Having an easy-to-learn language on these early personal computers allowed small business owners, professionals, hobbyists, and consultants to develop custom software on computers they could afford.
BASIC remains popular in many dialects and in new languages influenced by BASIC, such as Microsoft's Visual Basic. In 2006, 59% of developers for the .NET Framework used Visual Basic .NET as their only programming language.
Combat Logistics Battalion 3 has been properly relieved of all logistical support responsibilities. Combat Logistics Battalion 7 took over those responsibilities and will continue the mission of supporting the Regimental Combat Teams operating in the area.
CLB-7 invites the wives and girlfriends of it's Marines to get a taste of the Corps. The women got the oppportunity to do training exercises and walk a day in their Marine's boots.
Lt. Col. Henry W. Lutz, the commanding officer of Combat Logistics Battalion 3, 2nd Marine Logistics Group (Forward), transferred authority to Lt. Col. Craig P. Barnett, the commanding officer of Combat Logistics Battalion 7, 2nd MLG (Fwd.), during a ceremony at Camp Dwyer, Afghanistan, April 15. Now that the turnover is complete, CLB-7 will pick up the tasks to support the regimental combat teams operating in southern Helmand province, Afghanistan.
