10 Top scientists now forecast a new Maunder Minimum type of cooling event at the doorstep. Average global atmospheric and oceanic temperatures will drop significantly beginning between 2015 and 2016 and will continue with only temporary reversals until they stabilize during a long cold temperature base lasting most of the 2030’s and 2040’s. A scientist who claims waning solar activity in the next 15 years will trigger what some are calling a mini ice age has revived talk about the effects of man-made versus natural disruptors to Earth's climate.
Solar scientists, armed with the best data yet regarding the activities of the sun, say the Earth is headed for a "mini ice age" in just 15 years -- something that hasn't happened for three centuries.
Professor Valentina Zharkova, of the University of Northumbria, presented the findings at the National Astronomy Meeting in Wales this week, Britain's Independent reported Saturday.

This is an experimental film about what life might be like several generations into Earth's next Ice Age. Climate change is real, and even though the situations in our short movie are hyperbolic, no one knows for sure how bad society might be centuries from now. This film was mainly just inspired by the resources and locations we had and the time of year it was, but I truly do worry about the problems of the world and maybe I can do my part in bringing it into the discussion of the public. When we enter this era again, upward prices on farm commodities will be the norm, affecting the economy as much as rising oil prices did from 2002-2010.
The Sun’s energy output and Solar Irradiance do affect our planet's weather in repeating cycles, and through 400 years of sunspot observation, it seems we are starting to repeat a cold period of either the 1830’s (Dalton Minimum) or 1650’s (Maunder Minimum) era.
During the height of the Little Ice Age 1650, it was in general about 1-2 degrees Celsius colder than at present. Winters were bitterly cold and prolonged, reducing the growing season by several weeks.
The prices of grain increased and wine became difficult to produce in many areas and commercial vineyards vanished in England. Storminess and flooding increased and in mountainous regions the tree line and snowline moved southward.

Mini Ice Age Definite, EMP Carrington Event possible.
It is a certainty that the earth is going into a mini ice age that will not reach it's coldest point until at least 2035. The question is not if we are heading into a mini ice age but how severe will the mini ice age be? More scientists, especially the Russian scientists, are expecting the upcoming mini ice age to equal or exceed the cold temperatures and snow of the Maunder minimum that occurred over 400 years ago, rather than the less severe mini ice age of the Dalton minimum that occurred in the 1800's. In 2019 we will know what lies in the future for climate change with the beginning of solar cycle 25. If there are no sun spots in 2019 than we will be heading into a period that is at least as severe at the Maunder minimum. It may be possible that the governments are in the know and are not warning the populations as to not cause panic or widespread changes in demographics that would upset the existing economic systems. It should also be noted that during a mini ice age there is a lessening of strength of the earth's magnetosphere and this leaves us vulnerable to the affects of solar flares. In 1859, such a solar flare (solar storm) did occur, and it wiped out even the simple and robust telegraph networks for a period of time that were in place in the 19th century. With the greatly weakened magnetosphere, as exists today, if such a solar fare (solar storm) were to occur in out modern age of electronics, it would bring modern day civilization to a screeching halt. Unfortunately, governments and commercial enterprises have been doing nothing to harden system in the case of such an event. A solar flare with a strong magnetosphere may not cause that much damage, but we currently have a very weak magnetosphere and it is getting weaker. Such are the cycles that the earth has been going through for millions of years. Possibly governments and the ultra-wealthy are taking precautions, but the general population will be left out in the cold, quite literally, if such an event were to occur.
The greatest problem will not be the cold, but rather the lack of food due to a greatly curtailed growing season.

She says the sun's normal activities will decrease by 60% around 2030, triggering a mini Ice Age that could last a decade. The previous mini Ice Age is called the Maunder Minimum. The Maunder Minimum (also known as the prolonged sunspot minimum) is the name used for the period roughly spanning 1645 to 1715 when sunspots became exceedingly rare, as noted by solar observers of the time.
The concept became notable after John A. Eddy published a landmark 1976 paper in Science titled "The Maunder Minimum". Astronomers before Eddy had also named the period after the solar astronomer Edward W. Maunder (1851–1928) who studied how sunspot latitudes changed with time. The periods he examined included the second half of the 17th century. Edward Maunder published two papers in 1890 and 1894, and he cited earlier papers written by Gustav Spörer.
Like the Dalton Minimum and Spörer Minimum, the Maunder Minimum coincided with a period of lower-than-average global temperatures.
During one 30-year period within the Maunder Minimum, astronomers observed only about 50 sunspots, as opposed to a more typical 40,000-50,000 spots in modern times.[citation needed]
The Maunder Minimum occurred between 1645 and 1715 when very few sunspots were observed. This was not due to a lack of observations; during the 17th century, Giovanni Domenico Cassini carried out a systematic program of solar observations at the Observatoire de Paris, thanks to the astronomers Jean Picard and Philippe de La Hire. Johannes Hevelius also performed observations on his own. The total numbers of sunspots (but not Wolf numbers) in different years were as follows:

Mini Ice Age Definite, EMP Carrington Event possible. It is a certainty that the earth is going into a mini ice age that will not reach it's coldest point until at least 2035. The question is not if we are heading into a mini ice age but how severe will the mini ice age be? More scientists, especially the Russian scientists, are expecting the upcoming mini ice age to equal or exceed the cold temperatures and snow of the Maunder minimum that occurred over 400 years ago, rather than the less severe mini ice age of the Dalton minimum that occurred in the 1800's. In 2019 we will know what lies in the future for climate change with the beginning of solar cycle 25. If there are no sun spots in 2019 than we will be heading into a period that is at least as severe at the Maunder minimum. It may be possible that the governments are in the know and are not warning the populations as to not cause panic or widespread changes in demographics that would upset the existing economic systems. It should also be noted that during a mini ice age there is a lessening of strength of the earth's magnetosphere and this leaves us vulnerable to the affects of solar flares. In 1859, such a solar flare (solar storm) did occur, and it wiped out even the simple and robust telegraph networks for a period of time that were in place in the 19th century. With the greatly weakened magnetosphere, as exists today, if such a solar fare (solar storm) were to occur in out modern age of electronics, it would bring modern day civilization to a screeching halt. Unfortunately, governments and commercial enterprises have been doing nothing to harden system in the case of such an event. A solar flare with a strong magnetosphere may not cause that much damage, but we currently have a very weak magnetosphere and it is getting weaker. Such are the cycles that the earth has been going through for millions of years. Possibly governments and the ultra-wealthy are taking precautions, but the general population will be left out in the cold, quite literally, if such an event were to occur. The greatest problem will not be the cold, but rather the lack of food due to a greatly curtailed growing season. -

When we enter this era again, upward prices on farm commodities will be the norm, affecting the economy as much as rising oil prices did from 2002-2010.
The Sun’s energy output and Solar Irradiance do affect our planet's weather in repeating cycles, and through 400 years of sunspot observation, it seems we are starting to repeat a cold period of either the 1830’s (Dalton Minimum) or 1650’s (Maunder Minimum) era.
During the height of the Little Ice Age 1650, it was in general about 1-2 degrees Celsius colder than at present. Winters were bitterly cold and prolonged, reducing the growing season by several weeks.
The prices of grain increased and wine became difficult to produce in many areas and commercial vineyards vanished in England. Storminess and flooding increased and in mountainous regions the tree line and snowline moved southward.

Mini Ice Age Definite, EMP Carrington Event possible.
It is a certainty that the earth is going into a mini ice age that will not reach it's coldest point until at least 2035. The question is not if we are heading into a mini ice age but how severe will the mini ice age be? More scientists, especially the Russian scientists, are expecting the upcoming mini ice age to equal or exceed the cold temperatures and snow of the Maunder minimum that occurred over 400 years ago, rather than the less severe mini ice age of the Dalton minimum that occurred in the 1800's. In 2019 we will know what lies in the future for climate change with the beginning of solar cycle 25. If there are no sun spots in 2019 than we will be heading into a period that is at least as severe at the Maunder minimum. It may be possible that the governments are in the know and are not warning the populations as to not cause panic or widespread changes in demographics that would upset the existing economic systems. It should also be noted that during a mini ice age there is a lessening of strength of the earth's magnetosphere and this leaves us vulnerable to the affects of solar flares. In 1859, such a solar flare (solar storm) did occur, and it wiped out even the simple and robust telegraph networks for a period of time that were in place in the 19th century. With the greatly weakened magnetosphere, as exists today, if such a solar fare (solar storm) were to occur in out modern age of electronics, it would bring modern day civilization to a screeching halt. Unfortunately, governments and commercial enterprises have been doing nothing to harden system in the case of such an event. A solar flare with a strong magnetosphere may not cause that much damage, but we currently have a very weak magnetosphere and it is getting weaker. Such are the cycles that the earth has been going through for millions of years. Possibly governments and the ultra-wealthy are taking precautions, but the general population will be left out in the cold, quite literally, if such an event were to occur.
The greatest problem will not be the cold, but rather the lack of food due to a greatly curtailed growing season.
