PEACOCK succeeded Beijing 100m champion Oscar PISTORIUS (RSA) as the man to beat in the T44 men's 100m with a superb start that saw him ahead after just 10m. It was a lead that he was never to relinquish despite being pressed hard all the way to the line, which he crossed in a Paralympic record of 10.90, just 0.05 away from his own world record set earlier this summer.The 19-year-old Briton showed his maturity by living up to all the expectations heaped on his young shoulders, as the roars of 'PEACOCK, PEACOCK' rang out around the Olympic Stadium prior to the gun being fired. The unheralded Richard BROWNE (USA) provided a challenge from an unexpected direction and finished second in a personal best 11.03. ""It's surreal. For the past four days I've been in the Village. I've been trying to keep focus for that time but when you've got guys like David (WEIR, GBR) going out and getting golds you just want to go out and be a part of that. It hasn't really sunk in yet. I don't think it will ever sink in. LONDON, 31 August
Jason NELMS netted a game-high 24 points for USA as they returned to winning ways with a 77-51 triumph over Italy.
Galliano MARCHIONNI opened the scoring for Italy but the USA dominated the initial exchanges with NELMS netting four points. MARCHIONNI levelled the game at 10-10 but a three-point play from NELMS gave USA a narrow advantage at the end of the first period.
NELMS opened the second quarter with another three-point basket and bagged six more points in the quarter before being subbed with USA leading 22-14.
Italy's Fabio RAIMONDI grabbed five points to reduce the deficit, and Amine MOUKHARIQ (ITA) levelled the match at 27-27 but USA took a 37-30 lead into half-time as NELMS returned to the court to grab four more points.
Trevon JENIFER (USA) rounded off a sweeping move to put USA 43-32 up early in the third and forward Joshua TUREK contributed 10 points to the quarter as they moved 14 points clear at 57-43.
And the victory was complete thanks to some fine individual work from Nate HINTZE (USA) in the final quarter as he added 12 points, taking his tally to 22 for the match.
It was a disciplined USA performance compared with Italy, who gave away 29 free throws during the game.

The Paralympic Games are a major international multi-sport event where athletes with a physical disability compete; this includes athletes with mobility disabilities, amputations, blindness, and cerebral palsy. There are Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which are held immediately following their respective Olympic Games. All Paralympic Games are governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
The Paralympics have grown from a small gathering of British World War II veterans in 1948 to become one of the largest international sport events by the early 21st century. Paralympians strive for equal treatment with non-disabled Olympic athletes, but there is a large funding gap between Olympic and Paralympic athletes. There are also sports, such as track and field athletics, that are resistant to Paralympians who wish to compete equally with non-disabled athletes, though there have been Paralympians who have participated in the Olympic Games.
The Paralympic Games include athletes with physical disabilities, and are run in parallel with the Olympic Games, while the IOC–recognized Special Olympics World Games include athletes with intellectual disabilities, and the Deaflympics include deaf athletes.

PEACOCK succeeded Beijing 100m champion Oscar PISTORIUS (RSA) as the man to beat in the T44 men's 100m with a superb start that saw him ahead after just 10m. It was a lead that he was never to relinquish despite being pressed hard all the way to the line, which he crossed in a Paralympic record of 10.90, just 0.05 away from his own world record set earlier this summer.The 19-year-old Briton showed his maturity by living up to all the expectations heaped on his young shoulders, as the roars of 'PEACOCK, PEACOCK' rang out around the Olympic Stadium prior to the gun being fired. The unheralded Richard BROWNE (USA) provided a challenge from an unexpected direction and finished second in a personal best 11.03. ""It's surreal. For the past four days I've been in the Village. "77 USA vs ITA 51 LONDON, 31 August Jason NELMS netted a game-high 24 points for USA as they returned to winning ways with a 77-51 triumph over Italy. Galliano MARCHIONNI opened the scoring for Italy but the USA dominated the initial exchanges with NELMS netting four points. MARCHIONNI levelled the game at 10-10 but a three-point play from NELMS gave USA a narrow advantage at the end of the first period. NELMS opened the second quarter with another three-point basket and bagged six more points in the quarter before being subbed with USA leading 22-14. Italy's Fabio RAIMONDI grabbed five points to reduce the deficit, and Amine MOUKHARIQ (ITA) levelled the match at 27-27 but USA took a 37-30 lead into half-time as NELMS returned to the court to grab four more points. Trevon JENIFER (USA) rounded off a sweeping move to put USA 43-32 up early in the third and forward Joshua TUREK contributed 10 points to the quarter as they moved 14 points clear at 57-43. And the victory was complete thanks to some fine individual work from Nate HINTZE (USA) in the final quarter as he added 12 points, taking his tally to 22 for the match. Jason NELMS netted a game-high 24 points for USA as they returned to winning ways with a 77-51 triumph over Italy.
Galliano MARCHIONNI opened the scoring for Italy but the USA dominated the initial exchanges with NELMS netting four points. MARCHIONNI levelled the game at 10-10 but a three-point play from NELMS gave USA a narrow advantage at the end of the first period.
NELMS opened the second quarter with another three-point basket and bagged six more points in the quarter before being subbed with USA leading 22-14.
Italy's Fabio RAIMONDI grabbed five points to reduce the deficit, and Amine MOUKHARIQ (ITA) levelled the match at 27-27 but USA took a 37-30 lead into half-time as NELMS returned to the court to grab four more points.

Jason NELMS netted a game-high 24 points for USA as they returned to winning ways with a 77-51 triumph over Italy.
Galliano MARCHIONNI opened the scoring for Italy but the USA dominated the initial exchanges with NELMS netting four points. MARCHIONNI levelled the game at 10-10 but a three-point play from NELMS gave USA a narrow advantage at the end of the first period.
NELMS opened the second quarter with another three-point basket and bagged six more points in the quarter before being subbed with USA leading 22-14.
Italy's Fabio RAIMONDI grabbed five points to reduce the deficit, and Amine MOUKHARIQ (ITA) levelled the match at 27-27 but USA took a 37-30 lead into half-time as NELMS returned to the court to grab four more points.
