On the evening of Valentines Day, February 14, 2017 a very special train that has eluded me for a couple of years was running over 12hrs later then their planned time and I was finally able to get them! That train would be The Ringling Brothers Circus train. After about three years of me missing it I was finally able to get it that evening. Since the train was originally planned to go up the Philly Sub Monday night in the dark my hopes in getting it was very slim until the train became over twelve overs late due to some issues loading it in Raleigh, North Carolina. So during school right before the end of the day I heard it was leaving Baltimore so with very little time my dad picked me up and we raced to Swarthmore Ave in Ridley Park. After getting there if this never happened I would have almost missed it. Further down the line near CSX's Wilsmere Yard a track crew was not able to clear in time which held the P926 at Elsmere Jct until 4PM. After the all clear was given for them to proceed the rest of the way east I waited about thirty more minutes and then I saw his headlights and heard a K5LA blowing for Fairview Road the previous crossing prior to Swarthmore Ave. The reason this event was such a big deal was because this may have been one of the last times a Circus Train has gone through Ridley Park because as most people know the Circus will stop putting on shows not that long from now. So seeing this for at least once was very entertaining. Plus a nice addition to this train was the GP38-2 on the point with two D8-40CW widecabs behind. So sit back, relax & enjoy!
