The Yolo Bypass is one of two flood bypasses in the Sacramento Valley located in Yolo and Solano Counties. It protects Sacramento and other riverside communities from flooding through a system of weirs. These weirs connect the bypass to the Sacramento River as well as to various local creeks where the water is eventually drained into the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.
Sacramento experienced several severe floods prior to construction of the bypass. During wet years, the bypass can be full of water. The main input to the bypass is through the passive Fremont Weir, where water spills over into the bypass if it reaches the 33.5-foot crest. Downstream, the Sacramento Weir, just north of the city of West Sacramento, can also be opened to divert additional waters to protect Sacramento and West Sacramento if needed. The bypass ends a few miles north of Rio Vista in the Liberty Farms area, where the bypass joins first Prospect Slough and then Cache Slough adjacent to the connection of the Sacramento Deep Water Ship Channel. Cache Slough then reconnects with the Sacramento River just North of Rio Vista.

What have Miracle March rains meant to Northern California? A lot! Drone footage compilation shot and edited by John Hannon of flooding at the Yolo Bypass, Fremont Weir and Sacramento Bypass. This is the first time since 2012 this extent of flooding has occurred.
Massive storm runoff flowing through the Yolo Bypass near Woodland, California has created a virtual ocean between Sacramento and Yolo Counties. Sierra Railway's River Train made the journey with ease as its consist crossed on it's trestles Sunday afternoon, February 26, 2017.
Answering the question - Where does all that water go that's diverted from the Sacramento River at the Sacramento Weir when it's needed? Here's a quick video shot at sunset of the Yolo Bypass between West Sacramento and Davis. The diversion turns the Yolo floodplain into an ocean under Interstate 80 Yolo Causeway. Before a causeway was built, motor travelers between Davis and Sacramento were forced to detour south through Tracy and Stockton when seasonal flooding left the Yolo Bypass basin under water - like you see in the video. For more information about the bypass, visit http://www.water.ca.gov/aes/yolo/ or https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/lands/places-to-visit/yolo-bypass-wa
Drove over to check out the Yolo Bypass! Can't believe it's been 10 Years since all the gates where opened! At least Oroville Dam didn't break! Crazy high water level. #bognote #yolo #bognote.com
Beginning of spring and feel like taking a walk to clear my mind, body, and soul. So, I'm out here walking and looking for jackrabbit. I walk about a mile along the levee looking at the bypass that the flow into when it was raining. Overall, I didn't see any jackrabbits but it feel good to be back out again. 👉 New video every FRIDAY! If you like what you see, help my channel out by subscribing and liking it. THANKS! WOW. This was taken on our way to South Lake Tahoe on President's Weekend. It was an amazing sight to see and reminded me of crossing the east side of the San Mateo Bridge. I commend those who foresaw the need for and created the bypass because if this did not exist, Sacramento would be flooded today.

Superhuman person or alien saves a man on a motorbike from complete destruction by teleporting him a few meters away in less than a second, and then flees the scene as quickly as possible. A few observations from the footage: The truck driver swerves to his left at the last second slightly and leaves dark skid marks behind. The spot the motorbike man is teleported from, there is a dark round imprint left on the road and the same around the new position which both gradually fade away after a few seconds (while the skid marks remain). The truck driver can be observed looking at the dark ring closest to him in confusion, as it fades away (he looks right at this spot). Also, he doesn't know whether to go and apologise to the motorbike man because he isn't sure if it's who he thought he was a...

Video and documents review how a simple change in water accounting and modeling may allow state water exporters to earn an extra 1.5 billion per year, even though there's no additional water flow or export from the Sacramento River. This is a look at how computer modeling and reporting is used to revise the Delta
Under the unseasonal warm Winter sun in Davis, CA., those tundra swans seem very active and vocal. Come join me at the front seat of the nature theater at Yolo Bypass Wildlife Refuge, you will hear the songs ( or cry?) of swans and snow geese etc. and I think I hear the trumpeter swans too! Most of all, you can hear the loud wing flapping sounds when those big swans took off-- You are at the front row ! it is that close! Since I have to be in the car, in order not to disturb them ( so they do not move away). Therefore due to the closeness of the driver seat space, you will hear the noise of camera bumping to the interior of the car!
