This is the second in the series in our "Home Cinema Newsreel" and this time we have a demonstration of a Philips DP70 Projector in a Living Room Cinema complete on Wheels!.
After seeing the setting up process we see 35mm running and then converstion to 70mm and then 70mm DTS.

Reel 1 of the new 70mm print of "Baraka" running on a Norelco Todd-AO (DP-70 / AA-II) 35/70mm projector. This is during a test run at Ebertfest 11 at the Virginia Theatre in Champaign, IL. April 26, 2009. Actually the testing is complete (lamp is now off) and we are running out the reel rather than put even the slightest mark on it by unthreading mid reel. Yes, there is a roller off (probably unnecessarily) and we are bypassing the mag soundhead at upper right because this is DTS print.
This is a six reel movie but these are doubled-up (not by us) 40-ish minute 70mm reels so the whole show is on just 3 reels. Projection via brand new Schneider lenses and utilizing special customized gates with continuous curved runners. The picture quality was stunning. Digital projectors have wet dreams about making images this good.

Wehrenberg's Des Pere 14 This is the last Phillips Norelco DP70 projector in the Wehrenberg circuit. What is unusal about these projectors is that the gate is stationary and you open the trap to lace the projector. This is the only projector i have ever seen that does that.
