#Makoto Shinkai è considerato da molti l'erede "moderno" di #Miyazaki. Questo perchè ha uno stile visivo molto artistico ma usa dei mezzi più veloci e tecnologici per crearlo. Forse la cosa che lo differenzia più di tutte dallo stile Ghibli sono gli sfondi che non sono dipinti a mano, come fa #KazuoOga in praticamente tutti i film dello Studio. Qui vediamo infatti un largo uso di software di grafica stile photoshop per fare dei backgrounds molto realistici, quasi "fotografici". Ma c'è ancora una cosa che viene fatta a mano con carta e matita perfino da #Shinkai ;)

The biggest theme in his adolescence life was the nature of relationships between him and other individuals. Why do we fall in love? The constant theme of distance prevalent in all his films will continue to be a theme in his future films.
People often call him the next miyazaki but it seems like he's trying to tell us he's a little annoyed at it in the most politically correct way. ™

Makoto Shinkai
Makoto Shinkai (新海 誠, Shinkai Makoto), born as Makoto Niitsu (新津 誠, Niitsu Makoto, born February 9, 1973) is a Japanese director of anime and former graphic designer. A native of Nagano Prefecture, Shinkai studied Japanese literature at Chuo University where he was a member of juvenile literature club where he drew picture books. He traces his passion for creation to the manga, anime, and novels he was exposed to while in middle school. His favorite anime is Castle in the Sky by Hayao Miyazaki. Shinkai has been called "The New Miyazaki" in several reviews, including those by Anime Advocates and ActiveAnime—comparisons which he himself calls an "overestimation".
Career
After graduating from Chuo in 1994 he got a job at Falcom, a video game company and where he worked for 5 years by making video clips for games and graphic design including web content. During this time he met musician Tenmon who would later collaborate in many of his movies by providing the music score.
In 1999, Shinkai released She and Her Cat, a five-minute short piece done in monochrome. It won several awards, including the grand prize at the 2000 DoGA CG Animation contest. The short details the life of a cat, entirely from the cat's perspective, as it passes time with its owner, a young woman.

The biggest theme in his adolescence life was the nature of relationships between him and other individuals. Why do we fall in love? The constant theme of distance prevalent in all his films will continue to be a theme in his future films.
People often call him the next miyazaki but it seems like he's trying to tell us he's a little annoyed at it in the most politically correct way. ™

He traces his passion for creation to the manga, anime, and novels he was exposed to while in middle school. His favorite anime is Castle in the Sky by Hayao Miyazaki. Shinkai has been called "The New Miyazaki" in several reviews, including those by Anime Advocates and ActiveAnime—comparisons which he himself calls an "overestimation". Makoto Shinkai (新海 誠) appeared at the last "New York Anime Festival" (within the New York Comic Con) in 2011 for a screening of his new movie "Children Who Chase Lost Voices" (星を追う子ども), as well as an interview and Q&A;. Here is the directed portion of the interview conducted by NYAF/NYCC. Translation not directed at the audience was cut. As an interesting side note, we (GeekNights) had not intended to video this event. While press, we assumed that plenty of other people would have their equipment on-hand. Upon arrival, however, we discovered that there was almost no press presence. I couldn't let this wonderful interview exist solely in the form of fan cameras from the audience, so I turned up maximum image stabilization and stood for the full event at the side of the room holding the...

As an interesting side note, we (GeekNights) had not intended to video this event. While press, we assumed that plenty of other people would have their equipment on-hand. Upon arrival, however, we discovered that there was almost no press presence. I couldn't let this wonderful interview exist solely in the form of fan cameras from the audience, so I turned up maximum image stabilization and stood for the full event at the side of the room holding the camera as steady as possible.
The room was noisy, and there was a great deal of background noise from outside the room. I removed as much as possible.
The moral? If you're a journalist at a convention, carry your tripod and shotgun mic even if you expect any video to be redundant. ;^)

Here is the directed portion of the interview conducted by NYAF/NYCC. Translation not directed at the audience was cut. As an interesting side note, we (GeekNights) had not intended to video this event. While press, we assumed that plenty of other people would have their equipment on-hand. As an interesting side note, we (GeekNights) had not intended to video this event. While press, we assumed that plenty of other people would have their equipment on-hand. Upon arrival, however, we discovered that there was almost no press presence. The room was noisy, and there was a great deal of background noise from outside the room. I removed as much as possible.
The moral? If you're a journalist at a convention, carry your tripod and shotgun mic even if you expect any video to be redundant. ;^)
