Live Below the Line is a fundraising campaign that helps Australians take action on poverty.
From 2-6 May, thousands of participants will make their meals count by feeding themselves on $2 a day
for five days. That’s the Australian equivalent of the extreme poverty line. By taking the Live Below
the Line challenge, we’re raising much-needed funds for work that helps end poverty.
Live Below the Line is run by Oaktree, one of Australia’s largest youth-run organisations.
Education transforms lives. That’s why we work with partners in the Asia-Pacific to fund programs
that help people break out of the poverty cycle. We also raise awareness in Australia about the
global injustice of poverty. Since 2010, over 40,000 Australians have taken the Live Below the
Line challenge and raised over $9 million for Oaktree’s work. And we want you to be part of it.

We believe education is the most powerful tool we have in the fight against poverty.
That's why we partner with organisations who provide education programs to young people in Cambodia, Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea.
We also want to educate Australians about the injustice of poverty, and the impact their actions can have.
Here, we raise awareness about the issue of extreme poverty and advocate for policy change from our leaders.
For us, Live Below the Line is about creative cooking, rationing and caffeine deprivation: we know it’s
just a glimpse into what life is like for people in poverty, not a real experience of it. But we know what we do has a real impact.
