Carlton Chase (February 20, 1794 – January 18, 1870) was the first Bishop of the Diocese of New Hampshire in the Episcopal Church in the United States of America.
Chase was born in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, the son of Captain Charles Chase and Sarah (Currier) Chase. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1817. He was ordained deacon in 1818 and ordained priest in 1820 by Alexander Viets Griswold. After his ordination, Chase moved to Bellows Falls, Vermont and became the rector of Immanuel Church. Not long after arriving in Bellows Falls, Chase married an inhabitant of that town, Harriet Cutler. They would go on to have eight children. He remained at Immanuel until his ordination in 1844, receiving a doctor of divinity during his time there from the University of Vermont.
He was consecrated along with Nicholas Hamner Cobbs and Cicero S. Hawks in Philadelphia on October 20, 1844. After his elevation to the episcopate, he moved to Claremont, New Hampshire, where he also served as rector of Trinity Church. Chase made pastoral visitations to the Episcopal Diocese of New York in 1850, 1851, and 1852 in the midst of difficulties related to the trial and suspension of Bishop Benjamin Treadwell Onderdonk. He died January 18, 1870 and was buried in Claremont.
Elizabeth City is a city in Pasquotank County, North Carolina, in the United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 18,683. Elizabeth City is the county seat and largest city of Pasquotank County. It is the cultural, economic and educational hub of the sixteen-county Historic Albemarle region of northeastern North Carolina.
Elizabeth City is the center of the Elizabeth City Micropolitan Statistical Area, with a population of 64,094 as of 2010, and is part of the larger Virginia Beach-Norfolk, VA-NC Combined Statistical Area. The city is the economic center of the region, as well as home to many historic sites and cultural traditions.
Marketed as the "Harbor of Hospitality", Elizabeth City has had a long history of shipping due to its location at a narrowed bend of the Pasquotank River. Founded in 1794, Elizabeth City prospered early on from the Dismal Swamp Canal as a mercantile city, before later shifting into a varied industrial and commercial focus. While Elizabeth City still retains its extensive waterfront property, it is linked to neighboring counties and cities by highways and bridges and serves as the site of the largest US Coast Guard base in the nation.
A coast guard or coastguard is a maritime security organization of a particular country. The term implies widely different responsibilities in different countries, from being a heavily armed military force with customs and security duties to being a volunteer organization tasked with search and rescue functions and lacking any law enforcement powers. However, a typical coast guard's functions are distinct from typical functions of both the navy (a pure military force) and a transportation police (a civilian law enforcement agency).
The modern Her Majesty's Coastguard of the United Kingdom was established in 1809 as the Waterguard, and was originally devoted to the prevention of smuggling as a department of the HM Customs and Excise authority. It was, however, also responsible for giving assistance to shipwrecks.
Each Water Guard station was issued with Manby's Mortar which was invented by Captain George William Manby in 1808. The mortar fired a shot with a line attached from the shore to the wrecked ship and was used for many years up and down the coastline. This began the process in which the Coastguard assumed a life saving role. In 1821 a committee of inquiry recommended that responsibility for the Preventative Water Guard be transferred to the Board of Customs. The Treasury agreed and in a Minute dated 15 January 1822, directed that the preventative services, which consisted of the Preventative Water Guard, cruisers, and Riding Officers should be placed under the authority of the Board of Customs and in future should be named the Coast Guard. In 1845 the Coastguard was subordinated to the Admiralty.
A creative director is a position often found within the graphic design, film, music, fashion, advertising, media or entertainment industries, but may be useful in other creative organizations such as web development and software development firms as well.
A creative director is a vital role in all of the arts and entertainment industries. In another sense, they can be seen as another element in any product development process. The creative director may also assume the roles of an art director, copywriter, or lead designer. The responsibilities of a creative director include leading the communication design, interactive design, and concept forward in any work assigned. For example, this responsibility is often seen in industries related to advertisement. The creative director is known to guide a team of employees with skills and experience related to graphic design, fine arts, motion graphics, and other creative industry fields. Some example works can include visual layout, brainstorming, and copy writing. Before one assumes the role of a creative director, one must have a preset of experience beforehand. Like anyone else, these types of artists start up from the very beginning in fields that can relate to motion graphics, advertisement in television, and/or book (or magazine) publishing.

Radiolab - Laughter [Amanda Aronczyk, JoAnne Bachorowski, Dr. Jaak Panksepp, Dr. Robert Provine, Barry Sanders and Tyler Stillman] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all laugh. This hour of Radiolab asks why. If you look closely, you'll find that humor has very little to do with it. We ask what makes us laugh, and how it affects us. Along the way, we tickle some rats, listen in on a baby's first laugh, talk to a group of professional laughers, and travel to Tanzania to investigate an outbreak of contagious laughter. With this yearly event, The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History in Downtown Kennesaw hosts "Trains, Trains, Trains!" featuring arts & crafts, model train layouts, and many more activities and getting to see The General itself in its home since the "Great Locomotive Chase." And on top of all of that, you get some CSX action during the day, which was quite busy! From about 9am-9pm, I saw 18 trains, 16 of which I recorded. The first 2 trains I missed because I was volunteering at the museum and we were getting ready to open the doors. It was Q676-26 and X790 northbound light engine power move that I missed. The bro Terrence met up with me in Kennesaw and we hung out the rest of the day. And you couldn't have asked for perfect weather yet again! 0:36 Kennesaw, GA CSX W&A; Subdivi...
