Maine
Maine (
i/ˈmeɪn/; French: État du Maine) is a state in New England, in the United States. Maine is the 39th most extensive and the 42nd most populous of the 50 U.S. states. It is bordered by New Hampshire to the west, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec to the east and north, respectively. Maine is the northernmost state in the contiguous United States east of the Great Lakes. It is known for its jagged, rocky coastline; low, rolling mountains; heavily forested interior, and picturesque waterways; and also its seafood cuisine, especially lobster and clams. In spite of its maritime position, it has a continental climate even in coastal areas such as its largest city, Portland. The state capital is Augusta with a population of 19,136 (2010), making it the third least-populous state capital (after Montpelier, Vermont and Pierre, South Dakota) in the nation.
For thousands of years, indigenous peoples were the only inhabitants of the territory that is now Maine. At the time of European encounter, several Algonquian-speaking peoples inhabited the area. The first European settlement in Maine was by the French in 1604 on Saint Croix Island, by Pierre Dugua, Sieur de Mons. The first English settlement in Maine, the short-lived Popham Colony, was established by the Plymouth Company in 1607. A number of English settlements were established along the coast of Maine in the 1620s, although the rugged climate, deprivations, and conflict with the local peoples caused many to fail over the years.

Bath, Maine
Bath is a city in Sagadahoc County, Maine, in the United States. The population was 8,514 at the 2010 census, and 8,357 as of 2013. It is the county seat of Sagadahoc County. The city is popular with tourists, many drawn by its 19th-century architecture. It is home to the Bath Iron Works and Heritage Days Festival, held annually on the Fourth of July weekend. It is commonly known as "The City of Ships." Bath is part of the metropolitan statistical area of Greater Portland.
History
Abenaki Indians called the area Sagadahoc, meaning "mouth of big river." It was a reference to the Kennebec River, which Samuel de Champlain explored in 1605. Popham Colony was established in 1607 downstream, together with Fort St George. The settlement failed due to harsh weather and lack of leadership, but the colonists built the New World's first oceangoing vessel constructed by English shipwrights, the Virginia of Sagadahoc. It provided passage back to England. Most of Bath, Maine, was settled by travelers from Bath, England.

As a photojournalist I had a leg up on the visuals but the sound and editing processes were foreign - and often overwhelming - to me. Thanks, Bob, for your optimism and patience. So we drove. A non-stop 24 hour drive (literally) from Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Boston. After the incredibly long drive, Chris and I crashed with Rob at his sisters' place in Jamaica Plain. After a solid night of sleep and some food (thanks for the pancakes Martin!), we moved on to Brunswick, Maine and camped out near Monmouth. We were recent college grads with no job prospects, and nothing to lose. With a desire to do something good, my two best friends and I decided; lets buy a school bus. Our "Adventure for Good" was born. After rebuilding the bus, we're beginning our mission to find and help deserving causes around America. Everything we do is controlled by our followers. Pat is a RN with 37 years of experience and decided to try travel nursing later in life after her children grew up and left her home. Pat applied for a travel nurse job with American Traveler and loved the entire experience, plus she took her husband along. Chelsey is a young RN from Georgia; she met several new friends while travel nursing and even tried sushi for the first time! She said "we don’t have sushi in Georgia!"

Chelsey, RN, American Traveler: When I first decided to be a travel nurse, so I just started surfing the web, filled out the application online and a consultant contacted me within a day and we took it from there and it was love at first site with American Traveler.
Kelly, Recruiter: I have a lot of travel nurses that are currently working for me all throughout the United States. I have a lot in Arizona, California, Wisconsin. I have one going to Maine, a lot in Florida. We do become very, very close to them. You almost become an extension of their family.
Chelsey, RN, Travel Nurse: My recruiter has been great. I can call her at any time and she's there for me to answer my question, to calm me down if I'm nervous about a new job. It's been excellent.
Kelly, Recruiter: You know, one of the best benefits of travel nursing is being able to have that kind of profession that we can travel the country and see it and experience new places, new people, new hospitals.
Chelsey, RN, American Traveler: I met a lot of my new friends just from day one orientation with the hospital. They have become my tour guides so they take me out on, you know, a little exploratory places. I had sushi for the first time. We don't have sushi in Georgia.

Chelsey, RN, American Traveler: When I first decided to be a travel nurse, so I just started surfing the web, filled out the application online and a consultant contacted me within a day and we took it from there and it was love at first site with American Traveler.
Kelly, Recruiter: I have a lot of travel nurses that are currently working for me all throughout the United States. I have a lot in Arizona, California, Wisconsin. I have one going to Maine, a lot in Florida. We do become very, very close to them. You almost become an extension of their family.
Chelsey, RN, Travel Nurse: My recruiter has been great. I can call her at any time and she's there for me to answer my question, to calm me down if I'm nervous about a new job. It's been excellent.
Kelly, Recruiter: You know, one of the best benefits of travel nursing is being able to have that kind of profession that we can travel the country and see it and experience new places, new people, new hospitals.
Chelsey, RN, American Traveler: I met a lot of my new friends just from day one orientation with the hospital. They have become my tour guides so they take me out on, you know, a little exploratory places. I had sushi for the first time. We don't have sushi in Georgia.

As a photojournalist I had a leg up on the visuals but the sound and editing processes were foreign - and often overwhelming - to me. Thanks, Bob, for your optimism and patience.
I had two goals in Maine: 1) To learn what goes into making a video. And 2) go fishing. Thanks to my subject, fishing guide, Don Kleiner, I was able to do both He was often saying, " Put down the camera, this is a great spot". He had a wonderful attitude.
Things technical: I used 4 cameras for this. A Sony HDR-SR11 camcorder for the bulk of the shoot, Nikon p7100 and 5100 for a couple of shots (to see how new digital cameras are handling video) and a Nikon AW100 for underwater and extreme low angles.

Vice is an international magazine focused on arts, culture, and news topics. Founded in 1994 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in later years the company expanded into Vice Media, with divisions including the magazine, a website, a film production company, a record label, and a publishing imprint. As of March 2013, the magazine's editor-in-chief is Rocco Castoro[2] and its global editor is documentary filmmaker Andy Capper.[3]
The magazine's editors have championed the "Immersionist" school of journalism, regarded as a DIY antithesis to the methods practiced by mainstream news outlets, and the monthly publication is frequently focused on a single theme.
Established by Suroosh Alvi, Shane Smith, and Gavin McInnes, the magazine was launched in 1994 as the Voice of Montreal with government funding, and the intention of the founders was to provide work and a community service.[4]
When the editors later sought to dissolve their commitments with the original publisher Alix Laurent, they bought him out and changed the name to Vice in 1996. In 2007, a Vice announcement was published on the Internet: "After umpteen years of putting out what amounted to a reference book every month, we started to get bored with it. In a March 2008 interview with The Guardian, Smith was asked about the magazine's political allegiances and he stated, "We're not trying to say anything politically in a paradigmatic left/right way ... We don't do that because we don't believe in either side. Are my politics Democrat or Republican? I think both are horrific. And it doesn't matter anyway. Money runs America; money runs everywhere."[4]
Founder Smith has stated: "I grew up being a socialist and I have problems with it because I grew up in Canada [and] I've spent a lot of time in Scandinavia, where I believe countries legislate out creativity. They cut off the tall trees. Everyone's a C-minus. I came to America from Canada because Canada is stultifyingly boring and incredibly hypocritical. Thanks, Canada."[5]

This is volume seven of my personal tour journal.
This video is a bit different than the rest.
My tour originally had been scheduled to go through the south into Arkansas, but in Ohio, Chris invited me to travel with him to the East Coast where he and Rob Reid were planning on doing about a week of shows together.
So we drove.
A non-stop 24 hour drive (literally) from Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Boston.
After the incredibly long drive, Chris and I crashed with Rob at his sisters' place in Jamaica Plain. After a solid night of sleep and some food (thanks for the pancakes Martin!), we moved on to Brunswick, Maine and camped out near Monmouth.
One night we stopped at an awesome bar in Hallowell called, The Liberal Cup, where I had THE BEST oatmeal stout I've ever tasted. When we left the bar, we discovered a bookstore totally unlocked next door (at 12:30am) and went in... you can see Rob's thought process about the idea of the bookstore in the video. I encouraged him to use several expletives to describe just how crazy it was.
The following day we wrapped up our camp and headed for the White Mountains in New Hampshire to do some trail hiking up to Mt. Chocorua.
The mountains were incredible and the hike, though difficult at times, was definitely worth the effort.
That night we crashed with some of Chris' friends that he had met on the Appalachian trail when he hiked it from Georgia to Maine a few years ago. They were incredibly hospitable and we were thankful to have a nice warm and dry place to sleep after our long hike.
We then headed back to Boston for one night before moving on to Middleboro. Chris and I discovered just how difficult it was to navigate through Boston's confusing streets, but we made it out and performed again with Rob at The Flat Iron Cafe.
Rob's family came out to the Middleboro show and we were put up by his mother and father for a couple of days. They live on the coast of Buzzards Bay, so we had a chance to do some boating too.
Overall, the past twelve days have been a whirlwind journey around New England with Rob as our tour guide. I've never been to this part of the country before and I'm trying to enjoy the experience of being here versus filming a ton of it...

Our "Adventure for Good" was born. After rebuilding the bus, we're beginning our mission to find and help deserving causes around America.
Everything we do is controlled by our followers. From where we go, to who we help, collaboration through social media drives our journey forward. Its a spontaneous, dangerous and an exciting way to do something good for others.
By taking challenges from our fans, we put ourselves on the line to raise money and awareness for causes that we have been asked to help. Its a chance for people at home to have a real impact on communities across the country.
We'll take any idea and use it to give money away to causes in need. All we need is you to get behind the reins and guide our trip, because Americas best stories, most inspiring people are probably right next door to you.

The major town in the district is Veron, now bigger than Higüey in territory, a spontaneous – and poor – urban development running along the original road from the west. Verón, last name of the French proprietor of a timberline business in the early 1930s, is now the base-city for hotel workers and related. It has, besides Bávaro, one of the only four gas stations in Punta Cana. The very next is located 48 kilometres (30 mi) west in Higüey, at the Fruisa crossroads, with a new Texaco gas station opened April 2010, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south of Macao beach, and the new Shell gas station close to the airport (on the highway Coral) opened at the end of 2010.
