The Resurrection of Broncho Billy is a 1970 live action short Western film, starring Johnny Crawford. It won an Academy Award for Best Short Subject.
It was John Carpenter's very first work: he acted as editor, composer of the music and co-writer of the film.
The Resurrection of Broncho Billy is the story of a young man (Johnny Crawford) who lives in a big city in present time, but his dreams are of the old west and western film heroes. Scenes of his everyday life take on the style of a western film as he visits with a western old timer Wild Bill Tucker; he crosses a busy boulevard packed with traffic and we hear the sound of a cattle drive; he's late for work at the hardware store; at an intersection crosswalk he has a western street showdown with a businessman as the light changes; he enters a saloon but has no I.D. for a beer; he is accosted in an alleyway; a pretty counter girl (Merry Scanlon) gives him soda but he realizes he has no money to pay for it.
Augustus (Latin: Imperātor Caesar Dīvī Fīlius Augustus; 23 September 63 BC – 19 August 14 AD) was the founder of the Roman Empire and its first Emperor, ruling from 27 BC until his death in AD 14.
He was born Gaius Octavius into an old and wealthy equestrian branch of the plebeian Octavii family. His maternal great-uncle Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC, and Octavian was named in Caesar's will as his adopted son and heir. He, Mark Antony, and Marcus Lepidus formed the Second Triumvirate to defeat the assassins of Caesar. Following their victory at Philippi, the Triumvirate divided the Roman Republic among themselves and ruled as military dictators. The Triumvirate was eventually torn apart under the competing ambitions of its members. Lepidus was driven into exile and stripped of his position, and Antony committed suicide following his defeat at the Battle of Actium by Octavian in 31 BC.
After the demise of the Second Triumvirate, Augustus restored the outward facade of the free Republic, with governmental power vested in the Roman Senate, the executive magistrates, and the legislative assemblies. In reality, however, he retained his autocratic power over the Republic as a military dictator. By law, Augustus held a collection of powers granted to him for life by the Senate, including supreme military command, and those of tribune and censor. It took several years for Augustus to develop the framework within which a formally republican state could be led under his sole rule. He rejected monarchical titles, and instead called himself Princeps Civitatis ("First Citizen of the State"). The resulting constitutional framework became known as the Principate, the first phase of the Roman Empire.
Anderson (or Andersson) may refer to:
Apollo is an enormous impact crater located in the southern hemisphere on the far side of the Moon. This formation dwarfs the large crater Oppenheimer that is located next to the western rim. The crater Barringer lies across the northern wall. To the southeast is the crater Anders, and Kleymenov is just to the east of the rim.
Apollo is a double-ringed walled plain (or basin) whose inner ring is roughly half the diameter of the outer wall. Both the outer wall and the interior have been heavily worn and eroded by subsequent impacts, so that significant parts of the outer and inner walls now consist of irregular and incised sections of mountainous arcs.
The interior floor is covered in a multitude of craters of various sizes. Several of the more notable craters have received names. The IAU used the eponyms of people associated with the Apollo program when designating some of these formations.
Sections of Apollo's interior have been resurfaced with lava, leaving patches of the floor with a lower albedo than the surroundings. There is a large patch of this lunar mare in the middle part of the inner ring, which contains some ray system markings. A long stretch of the mare lies along the southern part of the crater. There is also a smaller section near the western rim.
Augustus Carney was an American actor during the early 1900s. Born in Ireland in 1870, he got his start in vaudeville, before entering the film industry. In his short 7 year career, he appeared in over 130 films, mostly shorts.

“Broncho Billy and the Greaser”, 1914, directed by Gilbert M. 'Broncho Billy' Anderson and produced by Essanay Film Manufacturing Company, is the western genre in its most basic form. It's just that the story is very simple, which it had to be to work well in the silent era. Pretty commonly for this time the villain was 'non white' in this case a 'half breed' American Indian. The actor playing this part was also the only one of the three main characters guilty of overacting, but then he was the villain! Also there is a sign in the bar "No Drinks for Injuns", although this was probably accurate at the time.. Quite a few of the usual clichés were in evidence but for 1914 it wasn't badly done. It's better for instance than a lot of the very poor comedies from the same year. Gilbert M. "Br...
“Broncho Billy’s Sentence”, 1915, directed by Gilbert M. 'Broncho Billy' Anderson and produced by Essanay Film Manufacturing Company, is an impressive an unusual movie. It has the religious themes that make the films of William S. Hart intrigue. Billy commits a robbery but a preacher inspires him to have a change of heart. „Honnors for the first religious cowboy must go to G. M. Anderson of Essanay films for his portrayal of Bronco Billy in hundreds of one-reel action Westerns. His serendipitous roles established the lone pilgrim who may be either good or bad, but whose heart was generally in the right place and exhibited tenderness toward God, women, religion, and square deals of justice and morality. In the character of Bronco Billy was a rough-hewn saint who lived within the Arthurian...
“Broncho Billy and the Schoolmistress”,1912, is one of the first silent Western films, an early but a very popular movie. Gilbert M. "Broncho Billy" Anderson (March 21, 1880 – January 20, 1971) was an American actor, writer, film director, and film producer, who is best known as the first star of the Western film genre. Anderson played three roles in Porter's early motion picture The Great Train Robbery (1903). Seeing the film for the first time at a vaudeville theater and being overwhelmed by the audience's reaction, he decided to work in the film industry exclusively. He began to write, direct, and act in his own westerns under the name Gilbert M. Anderson. In 1907, Anderson and George Kirke Spoor founded Essanay Studios ("S and A" for Spoor and Anderson), one of the major early movi...
