"Woohoo" is a song by American recording artist Christina Aguilera, featuring Trinidadian rapper Nicki Minaj. The song was written by Aguilera, Onika Maraj, Claude Kelly, Ester Dean and Jamal "Polow da Don" Jones, and produced by Polow da Don, for Aguilera's sixth studio album, Bionic. "Woohoo" was released for digital download as a promotional single on May 18, 2010, and later was serviced to rhythmic airplay as the album's second single on May 25, 2010. The song, that contains a sample of the 1972 song "Add már uram az esőt" by Kati Kovács, lyrically speaks of cunnilingus. It has been described as an electronica-driven urban dancehall track with R&B and hip hop influences. The song received positive to mixed reviews from critics, some praising Minaj's appearance and Aguilera's vocals. Many noted its similarities to Kelis's "Milkshake". However, some expressed distaste for the sexual nature. "Woohoo" debuted and peaked at 46 and 79 in Canada and the United States, respectively. Aguilera performed the song as part of a medley from Bionic at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.
Christina María Aguilera (born December 18, 1980) is an American recording artist and actress. Aguilera first appeared on national television in 1990 as a contestant on the Star Search program, and went on to star in Disney Channel's television series The Mickey Mouse Club from 1993 to 1994. Aguilera signed to RCA Records after recording "Reflection", the theme song for the animated film Mulan (1998).
In 1999, Aguilera came to prominence following her debut album Christina Aguilera, which was a commercial success spawning three number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100—"Genie in a Bottle", "What a Girl Wants", and "Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)." Her sophomore and her debut Latin-pop album, Mi Reflejo (2000), a Christmas third studio album, My Kind of Christmas (2000), and several collaborations followed which garnered Aguilera worldwide success, though she was displeased with her lack of input in her music and image. After parting from her management, Aguilera took creative control over her fourth studio album, Stripped (2002). The album's second single, "Beautiful", was a commercial success and helped the album's commercial performance amidst controversy over Aguilera's image. Aguilera followed up Stripped with the soul, jazz and blues inspired, Back to Basics (2006), released to positive critical acclaim. The album produced three singles "Ain't No Other Man", "Hurt" and "Candyman". Four years later Aguilera released her sixth studio album, Bionic (2010), which incorporated aspects of R&B, electropop, and synthpop and was met with mixed reviews and low sales. Aguilera's seventh studio album is set to be released in 2012.
Request the honor of your presence
The tear gas has blown away
Put down your crumpets and your coffee now
So unfashionably late
Little brother, little sister
Underwater we go
Out of our ordinary selves
Stepping out
To where the people sing
WooHoo, and the people sing
And the times are good
WooHoo, and the people sing
And the times are good
You say I'm acting like a beggar
I call it killing the fool
You carry more baggage
Than a momma's boy
On your first day of school, say
Little brother, little sister
Underwater we go
Out of our ordinary selves
Stepping out
To where the people sing
WooHoo, and the people sing
And the times are good
WooHoo, and the people sing
And the times are good
Let go of the light of the TV
Drop the hands
The chains that bind me
Turn it all around
Stop, lift you up 'n die to self
In a time when the left and the right's the same
When it's all blurred vision in a crazy haze
Let's send out the invitations
(Let's send out the invitation)
You say I'm acting like a beggar
I call it killing the fool
To save your life you gotta lose it
So the people sing
WooHoo, and the people sing
And the times are good
WooHoo, and the people sing
