The BSD license is the license which originally applied to the Berkeley Software Distribution (a version of UNIX), and it is a permissive, non-viral open-source license.
The BSD license permits use, modification and distribution of the covered software, in object code or source format, subject to (i) requirements that copies must contain appropriate proprietary notices and (ii) broad disclaimers of liability.
Earlier versions of the BSD also included affirmative obligations to place statements in any advertisements for products that contained BSD-covered components, indicating that the products included material licensed from the proprietor of the original component. Later versions do not contain that requirement any longer.
Because the BSD is short, simple, permissive and non-viral, it is perhaps the most popular of all open source licenses.

Steps for building Lumina Desktop on FreeBSD / TrueOS:

1) Install packages (all commands run as root)

Note: Once the port/package is updated, only the lumina package will need to be installed

2) Setup X (as root)
Edit /etc/rc.conf and add the following lines to it. This will enable X to be able to detect/use the keyboard and mouse:

mixer_enable="YES" #required for audio control in Lumina

Now restart the system with "shutdown -r now" to have those settings take effect
3) Setup how Lumina will be started (assuming you are not using a graphical login manager)
A) Log in as your user
B) Create the "~/.xinitrc" file with the following contents

C) Make the init file executable
