In true teaser trailer form, Disney have given us the tiniest taste to whet our appetites for their live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast.

Not only do you get to see the castle, the ballroom, the Beast's clawed family portrait, and the magical rose, but the best bit is we get our very first look at Emma Watson as Belle.

The Harry Potter actress will star alongside a stellar cast, with Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere and Emma Thompson as Mrs Potts. Josh Gad, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kevin Kline and Audra McDonald also have key roles.

The film has been a long time coming, with Watson first linked to the role back in 2011 when producer Denise Di Novi let slip the actress was in talks with then director Guillermo del Toro for the Warner Bros' version.

However, when Del Toro exited the film and the project stalled, Disney took the opportunity to sign the actress on for their own version with director Bill Condon (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn).

Luke Evans, who stars as Gaston, told MTV back in September last year that Watson is more than perfect for the role.

"She's great," Evans said. "She epitomises what Belle should be in the 21st century to young girls; she's a strong woman."

"She's not just a Disney princess, she's more than a Disney princess, and she has a beautiful sensitive side to her. She's quite delicate to look at, but she's not at all. She's a really strong, feisty woman and we have some fantastic scenes in the film."

Watching the trailer, we can't help but be reminded of Watson's sentiments from her casting announcement last year:

"I'm finally able to tell you... that I will be playing Belle in Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I'll get to dance to (songs) Be Our Guest and sing  Something There. My six-year-old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can't wait for you to see it."

Our six-year-old selves are also bursting to enjoy this film. Sadly, we have to wait until next year. But in the meantime, watch the trailer below.

Beauty and the Beast is due to hit cinemas on 17th March, 2017.
