Oingo Boingo /ˈɔɪŋɡoʊ ˈbɔɪŋɡoʊ/ was a new wave rock band from the United States, best known for their hits "Dead Man's Party" and "Weird Science". They are also known for their soundtrack contributions, their high energy Halloween concerts, and for their unique mixture of styles including ska, punk, new wave, funk, and other world music genres. The band was founded in 1972 as The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, a performance art group. The band was led by songwriter/vocalist Danny Elfman, who has since achieved success as a composer for film and television.
The group's format changed twice. In 1979, it reshaped from a semi-theatrical music and comedy troupe into a ska-influenced new wave octet and shortened their name to Oingo Boingo. Towards the end of the 1980s, the band began shifting to a more guitar-oriented rock sound, and away from the use of horns and synthesizers. The band retired after a sold-out farewell concert on Halloween 1995.
The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, formed in late 1972 by Richard Elfman, was a musical theater troupe in the tradition of Spike Jones and Frank Zappa, performing an eclectic repertoire ranging from Cab Calloway covers to instrumentals in the style of Balinese gamelan and Russian ballet music. The name was inspired by a fictional secret society on the Amos 'n' Andy TV series called The Mystic Knights of the Sea. Most of the members performed in whiteface and clown makeup, and a typical show contained music ranging from the 1890s to the 1950s, in addition to original material. This version of the band employed as many as 15 musicians at any given time, playing over 30 instruments, including some instruments built by bandmembers. While this Richard Elfman-led incarnation of the group performed live, it did not issue any recordings.

Dead Man is a 1995 American Western film written and directed by Jim Jarmusch. It stars Johnny Depp, Gary Farmer, Billy Bob Thornton, Iggy Pop, Crispin Glover, John Hurt, Michael Wincott, Lance Henriksen, Gabriel Byrne, and Robert Mitchum (in his final film role). The film, dubbed a "Psychedelic Western" by its director, includes twisted and surreal elements of the Western genre. The film is shot entirely in black-and-white. Neil Young composed the guitar-seeped soundtrack with portions he improvised while watching the movie footage. Some consider it the ultimate postmodern Western, and related to postmodern literature such as Cormac McCarthy's novel, Blood Meridian. Like much of Jarmusch's work, it has acquired status as a cult film.
William Blake, an accountant from Cleveland, Ohio, rides by train to the frontier company town of Machine to assume a promised job as an accountant in the town's metal works. During the trip, a Fireman warns Blake against the enterprise while passengers shoot buffalo from the train windows. Arriving in town, Blake discovers that his position has already been filled, and he is driven from the workplace at gunpoint by John Dickinson, the ferocious owner of the company. Jobless and without money or prospects, Blake meets Thel Russell, a former prostitute who sells paper flowers. He lets her take him home. Thel's ex-boyfriend Charlie surprises them in bed and shoots at Blake, accidentally killing Thel when she tries to shield Blake with her body. A wounded Blake shoots and kills Charlie with Thel's gun before climbing dazedly out the window and fleeing Machine on a stolen horse. Company-owner Dickinson just happens to be Charlie's father, and he hires three legendary frontier killers, Cole Wilson, Conway Twill, and Johnny "The Kid" Pickett to bring Blake back 'dead or alive'.

Only a Lad is the full-length debut album by Oingo Boingo, released in 1981 following their self-titled EP.
The album's musical arrangements, by vocalist Danny Elfman and guitarist Steve Bartek, complete the group's switch from a cabaret act to a new wave band (see Oingo Boingo - The Mystic Knights Years). Only a Lad features complex and frequently changing time signatures and keys, often incorporating harmonies borrowed from jazz and 20th-century classical music; all hallmarks of Elfman's songwriting.
On the cover of the album, the drawing of a cat by Louis Wain that previously appeared on the cover of the Oingo Boingo EP is visible on the shirt of the scout. The cover is a parody of the Boy Scouts of America 1960 official handbook cover illustrated by Norman Rockwell.
The nature of some of the songs featured on the album generated mild controversy, such as the opening track "Little Girls", the music video for which was banned in Canada. On songs such as "Little Girls" and "Capitalism", Elfman has since stated that his intentions were to write in jest from the perspective of various disreputable characters, adding he was "out to offend everybody".

While the police are chasing the criminal, there is a mess at Granny's house involving Little Red Hiding Hood, The Wolf, The Woodsman and Granny, disturbing the peace in the forest. They are all arrested by the impatient Chief Grizzly. Detective Nicky Flipper is in charge of the investigation, and each accused gives his/her own version of the incident. Flipper uses the information to disclose the identity of the evil Goody Bandit.

During recordings, the band performed live in a studio with no audience; hence it is not a traditional "live" album. It was released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the band's inception. The song selection spans the group's entire discography, as well as including several previously unreleased pieces. Track Listing: 1. Dead Man's Party (From 1985's "Dead Man's Party") 2. Dead Or Alive (From 1983's "Good For Your Soul) 3. No Spill Blood (From 1983's "Good For Your Soul" 4. Stay (From 1985's "Dead Man's Party") 5. Boi-ngo (also known as BOI-NGO) is the fifth studio album by Oingo Boingo, released in 1987. It has a similar musical style to Dead Man's Party (1985) with refined studio production, but with fewer party-friendly compositions. Its original proposed title was "More Nervous Energy". It was also released in a limited edition box set, titled "Boingo in a Box", consisting of five 7-inch vinyl records with one track on each side. The box set featured an additional studio track Mama that was not included in the standard LP, CD or cassette releases. Radio interviews and demo tapes from the period indicate that the song Cinderella Undercover was recorded but again cut from the album; it was initially considered to appear on Only A Lad (1981). Both songs were subsequently re-recorded for the live al...

I pulled this directly off the VHS and relayed the audio.
I could not find this on youtube for the life of me, so I uploaded it. I love this video, it's probably one of my favorite videos by them. The only one that beats it, in my opinion anyway, is Dead Man's Party.

A somewhat self-deprecating Elfman interview circa 1988. The Oingo Boingo live clip at the beginning is of what I believe to be their Halloween 1987 Irvine Meadows show. The video was cut off at the end, but it's much better than nothing.
Danny Elfman on the Late Late Show with host Craig Ferguson. I rescued this video from the depths of an internet archive. First uploaded by user drwestlake. I believe this interview took place in 2006.
Don't you ever wonder why, nothing ever seems to change
If it does it's for the worse, seems it's just a modern curse
Sometimes when I take a peek outside of my little cage,
Everyone looks so asleep, will they die before they wake
And, hey. . . Don't you know? We're just products of our time and Hey . . .
What d'ya say? Show me yours, I'll show you mine
Better dumb and happy than smart and without any friends
Better cute and better loud, better join up with the crowd
Keep up or be left behind, there's a dust storm in my mind
Seems I can't see straight these days, doesn't matter anyway
Hey . . . Don't you know? We're just products of our times and
Hey, what d'ya say? Show me yours, I'll show you mine
Hey, what d'ya say? Hey, what d'ya say? Please don't ever -
Oh God, here's that question now. The one that makes me go insane
I'd gladly tear my heart out if you never, never, never, never change
Do you want to change? Do you want to change right now?
Do you want to change . . . I like my stupid life, just the way it is
And I wouldn't even change it for a thousand flying pigs
And I like you just the way you are, I like your face just the way it is
And I wouldn't even change it for a herd of screaming kids
And I like you just the way you are, I like you though you may not like me back
I would dazzle you with brilliance, if I only had the knack
'Cause I like you just the way you are, I like this life just the way it is
And the castles all around me, have been melting now for years
And it kills my brain to think of all the time I wasted here
All the efforts, sweat, and broken hearts, the screaming and the tears
And I'm dreaming again . . . Floating in a pool of mud
Try to get back where I was and I don't really care
Got a little talking to, by the mirror in my room, and I don't really care . . .
Whispering voices from the dead, come from underneath my bed
And I don't really care . . .
I like my stupid life just the way it is
And the chaos that surrounds me like a flock of screaming pigs
And it hurts my brain to think of all the stupid things I've said
And if I could change the future I would change the past instead
And I'm dreaming again . . . and I'm dreaming again . . .
Baby - sometimes I worry about you
Sometimes you're so far away, tell me what to do
I say, Baby . . . sometimes I worry about you
Sometimes I just can't believe everything you do
I say, Baby . . . sometimes I worry about you
Every day I feel the same, don't you feel it too
I say, Baby . . . sometimes I worry about me
Seems I'm falling down a lot, in between the scenes
I say, Baby . . . sometimes I worry about me
Getting harder all the time, harder now to see
I say, Baby . . . sometimes I worry about me
Light another cigarette, have another dream
It's the same thing every day, nothing ever seems to change and I . . .
Do you really want to change?
Testaments and growing pains. Tranquilizers for the soul.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained - evolution's cruelest joke
Why is everyone upset? I once knew but I forget. Something happened,
Something strange, something it appears has changed
Hey . . . Don't you know? We're just products of our times
And hey, what d'ya say? Show me yours, I'll show you mine
Hey, what d'ya say? Hey, what d'ya say? Please don't ever -
Oh God, here's that question now, the one that makes me go insane
I'd gladly tear my heart out if you never, never, never, never change
