Oberoi (also spelled as Uberoi, Oberai and Obhrai) is a Khatri clan.
Oberoi is a highly prominent Khatri surname found in India's Punjab and Haryana state. They are a north Indian community that originated in the Pothohar Plateau of Punjab. This region is historically connected with the composition of the Vedas and classics like the Mahabharata and Ashtadhyayi. Most Oberois live in Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur districts of Punjab. This region is known as the Doaba.A hand full of Oberois live in Chandigarh.
When Pakistan and India gained independence, most of the Oberois migrated to India from what became Pakistan. Today Oberois live in all regions of India, but are concentrated in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Suresh Oberoi (born Vishal Kumar Oberoi; 17 December 1946) is an Indian character actor. He is the father of Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi. He was born in Quetta, now Pakistan. and is a recipient of 1987 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. He started his career in radio shows, modelling and later moving to Bollywood, making him a popular character actor in the 1980s and much of 1990s.
Oberoi was born to Anand Sarup Uberoi, a Punjabi business man and Kartar Devi on 17 December 1946 in Quetta, then Baluchistan Province (Pre-Parition India), present day Pakistan. Within a year due to partition the family along with four brothers and sisters moved to India, and later relocated to Hyderabad state where his family established a chain of medical stores. Oberoi attended St. George's Grammar School in Hyderabad and was active in sports. He was Tennis and swimming champion, later winning President’s Award as Boy Scout. After his father’s death when just out of high school, Oberoi along with his brother continued running his pharmacy chains. He is fluent in Hindi, Urdu, English, Telugu and Tamil.

Anupam Kher (born 7 March 1955) is an Indian actor who has appeared in several hundred films and many plays. Mainly working in Hindi films, he has also appeared in acclaimed international films such as the 2002 Golden Globe nominated Bend It Like Beckham, Ang Lee's 2007 Golden Lion winning Lust, Caution, and David O. Russell's 2013 Oscar winning Silver Linings Playbook. Kher has won the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role five times. For his performance in film Vijay he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
He has held the post of chairman of Central Board of Film Certification and National School of Drama in India. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his contribution in the field of cinema and arts.
His wife, actress Kirron Kher is a Member of the Indian Parliament from Chandigarh.
Kher was born on 7 March 1955 in Shimla. His father was a clerk and he had a modest upbringing. He received education at D.A.V. School in Shimla. In his struggling days as an actor in Mumbai he used to sleep on the railway platform before he found fame and fortune in films. He is an alumnus and a former chairperson of the National School of Drama. Some of his early acting roles were in plays performed at the Himachal Pradesh University.

Plot: Young and attractive Kunti has fallen in love with a young man by the name of Anil, and both intend to marry. They do get intimate which ends in Kunti getting pregnant. Kunti finds out that Anil comes from a poor family, and she would only like to marry someone rich, so that she can lead a comfortable and stylish life. When Anil finds out that Kunti does not marry him, he kills himself. Kunti is unable to abort the child, as it is illegal at that time, so she goes away from her home, with a close friend, Chanda, and gives birth to a baby girl, who she leaves in Chanda's care. Eventually, Kunti's dreams are fulfilled when she marries a rich and wealthy Barrister by the name of Avinash Kumar. Unfortunately, Kunti is unable to conceive, however the couple are contend with their lives. Years later, Kunti finds out that Avinash is having an affair with a female client by the name of Moon Moon, a woman born out of wedlock. When she confronts him, he admits knowing and meeting his mistress, and openly declares his love for her, leaving Kunti humiliated and downcast. Kunti then decides to meet Moon Moon and it is during this meeting she will find out the stark truth behind Avinash's affair with her.
