Penny Arcade Expo
The Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) is a series of gaming festivals held in Seattle, Boston, Melbourne, and San Antonio. PAX was created by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, the authors of the Penny Arcade webcomic, because they wanted to attend a show exclusively for gaming.
Created in 2004, PAX has been hailed as a celebration of gamer culture. Defining characteristics of the festival include an opening keynote speech from an industry insider, game-culture inspired concerts, panels on game topics, exhibitor booths from independent and major game developers and publishers, a LAN party, tabletop game tournaments, and video game freeplay areas. Every PAX also features the Omegathon, a festival long tournament consisting of a group of randomly selected attendees competing for a grand prize. The final round of the Omegathon makes up the closing ceremony of PAX. Past games for the final round have included Tetris, Pong, Halo 3, and Skee ball.
History
The first Penny Arcade Expo was held on August 28–29, 2004, in Bellevue, Washington, at the Meydenbauer Center, and was attended by approximately 3,300 people. The event was held annually in August, at the same venue, for the next two years. Attendance grew rapidly, with over 9,000 attendees in 2005, and over 19,000 in 2006.

The history of Penny Arcade Expo began in 2004, with the first event held in Bellevue, Washington, and held annually in Seattle since then. In 2010, a new event was also held in Boston, Massachusetts at which point the two events were differentiated with the names PAX Prime (on the West Coast) and PAX East (on the East Coast). In 2011, an event was held in Seattle, Washington, and dubbed Pax Dev. In 2013, an event was held in Melbourne, Australia, and dubbed PAX Australia. In 2015, an event was held in San Antonio, Texas, and dubbed PAX South.

PAX 2004
On April 12, 2004, the authors of Penny Arcade announced PAX, the Penny Arcade Expo. PAX 2004 was a two-day event held at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Washington from August 28 to August 29, 2004, which they hoped would turn into an annual event. Several exhibitors, including Warner Bros., Microsoft, Rooster Teeth and Ubisoft, showcased videos and playable demos of their upcoming games at PAX 2004. Microsoft allowed attendees to experience a multiplayer level of Halo 2 months before it hit stores in addition to a number of other Xbox games, while Ubisoft showed Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Ghost Recon 2 and two other titles. Warner Bros. brought all of its E3 assets for "The Matrix Online" to the show as well as several hands-on stations for the game.

So yours truly happens to work as a PAX enforcer (convention crew member). This brief video was shot during my quick walk through the expo hall of this year's PAX West (Penny Arcade Expo) convention held in Seattle, WA over the Labor Day weekend. It's simply meant to be a record of how the convention looked and felt like towards the end of its last day, perhaps for posterity's sake. Obviously due to the present circumstances, this year's convention is notably different than its prior editions. For one thing it has been downsized in terms of both scale and attendance. Circa September, 2021. This video was shot in full HD (albeit on a cell phone).

So yours truly happens to work as a PAX enforcer (convention crew member). This brief video was shot during my quick walk through the expo hall of this year's PAX West (Penny Arcade Expo) convention held in Seattle, WA over the Labor Day weekend. It's simply meant to be a record of how the convention looked and felt like towards the end of its last day, perhaps for posterity's sake. Obviously due to the present circumstances, this year's convention is notably different than its prior editions. For one thing it has been downsized in terms of both scale and attendance.
Circa September, 2021. This video was shot in full HD (albeit on a cell phone).

Penny Arcade Expo
The Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) is a series of gaming festivals held in Seattle, Boston, Melbourne, and San Antonio. PAX was created by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, the authors of the Penny Arcade webcomic, because they wanted to attend a show exclusively for gaming.
Created in 2004, PAX has been hailed as a celebration of gamer culture. Defining characteristics of the festival include an opening keynote speech from an industry insider, game-culture inspired concerts, panels on game topics, exhibitor booths from independent and major game developers and publishers, a LAN party, tabletop game tournaments, and video game freeplay areas. Every PAX also features the Omegathon, a festival long tournament consisting of a group of randomly selected attendees competing for a grand prize. The final round of the Omegathon makes up the closing ceremony of PAX. Past games for the final round have included Tetris, Pong, Halo 3, and Skee ball.
History
The first Penny Arcade Expo was held on August 28–29, 2004, in Bellevue, Washington, at the Meydenbauer Center, and was attended by approximately 3,300 people. The event was held annually in August, at the same venue, for the next two years. Attendance grew rapidly, with over 9,000 attendees in 2005, and over 19,000 in 2006.
