Modernization of BTR-70 diesel engine YaMZ - www.ste.com.ua
The BTR-70 is an eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier (Russian: бронетранспортер, BTR stands for Bronetransportyor literally "armoured transporter"), originally developed during the late 1960s under the industrial designator GAZ-4905. On August 21, 1972, it was accepted into service and would later be exported to the Warsaw Pact and other allies. Introduced as a successor to the earlier BTR-60, it most closely resembles a BTR-60PB. Other improvements include heavier armor plating and tires less prone to puncture. In other respects, the vehicle is very similar to the BTR-60PB, with a more powerful petrol engine configuration and armament of a primary heavy machine gun and secondary PKT machine gun on a roof mounted turret.
The vehicle's designers moved the side troop doors. On the vehicle's predecessor, these doors were located above the beltline between the second and third pairs of wheels on both sides of the vehicle. On the BTR-70, the doors are below the beltline between the second and third pairs of wheels. As Soviet tactics calls for unloading troops from the vehicle while it is in motion, the door location increases the chances that a soldier will be pulled under a wheel and injured or killed, although it also means that the troops can get out quicker while exposing them less to the enemy.
Like the vehicle's predecessor it is fully amphibious with minimal preparation. A licensed Romanian copy was designated the TAB-77 and had various improvements and changes to make local production easier, including a better turret and different engines.

"..The BTR-70 armored personnel carrier is a further development of the previous BTR-60PB. Vehicle entered service with Soviet army in 1972, but was first public revealed only in 1980.
The BTR-70 is longer comparing with it's predecessor. Vehicle is fitted with two hatches from each side between second and third road wheels. This hatch is intended for troops to enter and leave this vehicle. Alternatively troops enter and leave through the roof hatches.
This APC is better protected than it's predecessor. It is fitted with an automatic fire suppression system, as well as an NBC protection system.
The BTR-70 armored personnel carrier is fitted with a complete turret of the BTR-60PB. It is fitted with a 14.5-mm machine gun and coaxial 7.62-mm MG.
Vehicle has a crew of three and can carry 7 fully equipped troops. Troops enter and leave through roof hatches and side access doors, located between the front and rear sets of wheels. The BTR-70 can be easily recognized by this triangular-shaped side entrance. A number of firing ports and associated vision blocks are provided for the troops..
On of the improvements of the BTR-70 over the BTR-60PB are two slightly more powerful petrol engines. Vehicle is powered by GAZ-66 petrol engines, developing 120 horsepower each. Engines are mounted on a single frame and are located at the rear of the hull. When one engine is damaged, it can be remotely disconnected and vehicle keeps running on the remaining unit. The BTR-70 is fitted with a central tyre inflation system as standard. This APC is fully amphibious and is propelled on water by two waterjets.,,"

SAYMAR Ltd. (www.saymar.co.il) has developed an upgrading kit for the BTR-60 and BTR-70 Armored Personnel Carrier, Which improves the vehicle capabilities, extends the vehicle operational life, and enables the extended use of an existing fleet among other state of the art military vehicles.
The upgrading kit includes replacement of the original engine by a more powerful Diesel engine, new and modernized electrical system, new braking system, new hydraulic assisted power steering, new lighting system and much more.
SAYMAR Ltd. has the engineering know-how and the industrial and logistic capabilities to perform such an upgrading program in its own plant or in the customer's facilities.

The BTR-70 is longer comparing with it's predecessor. Vehicle is fitted with two hatches from each side between second and third road wheels. This hatch is intended for troops to enter and leave this vehicle. Alternatively troops enter and leave through the roof hatches.
This APC is better protected than it's predecessor. It is fitted with an automatic fire suppression system, as well as an NBC protection system.
The BTR-70 armored personnel carrier is fitted with a complete turret of the BTR-60PB. It is fitted with a 14.5-mm machine gun and coaxial 7.62-mm MG.
Vehicle has a crew of three and can carry 7 fully equipped troops. Troops enter and leave through roof hatches and side access doors, located between the front and rear sets of wheels. The BTR-70 can be easily recognized by this triangular-shaped side entrance. A number of firing ports and associated vision blocks are provided for the troops..

Der BTR-70 war ein sowjetischer Schützenpanzerwagen. BTR ist eine Abkürzung für Bronjetransportjor zu deutsch gepanzerter Transporter. Das Fahrzeug wurde auch bei der NVA verwendet und wurde dort als SPW-70 (Schützenpanzerwagen) genannt. Es handelt sich hier um einen Bausatz von Revell in 1/35 Habe ihn einfach Direkt aus der Schachtel gebaut und zum ersten mal mich mit MIg-Pigmenten probiert aber dies liegt schon gute 7 Jahre zurück aber ich finde er sie immer noch toll aus. Grüsse eure Platikschmiede

A cooperative mission where friendly russian forces must push toward the village of Fallingbostel after a previous mission had Blufor overtake it from them. 4 Squads_MMG, two BMP-2s and three BTR-70s. I am part of Victor 2-2, in a BTR-70 as the gunner, none of us can turn out, it's starting to get dark and part-way through our commanders periscope/sights stops working. If I remember correctly, V1-1 crew took a barrage of rockets for the rest of us at some point, sacrificing themselves in the process so we could live on. -

Epic battle - 6000 East Germans and West Germans fighting 2
Part 2: In this battle 3500 East German soldiers, armed to the teeth Motorschützen and Wachregiment use BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles and BTR-70 armored personnel carriers for an amphibious assault across a river to take a Korean villa from the West Germans in the 2nd Korean war (which never happened). The village is held by 2500 Panzergrenadiere and Heimatschützen brought in by Marder 1 IFV as well as M113 APCs. The second part shows the most violent battle Wargame Red Dragon has ever seen where East German NVA clears the city of West Germans house by house, district by district.

I am part of Victor 2-2, in a BTR-70 as the gunner, none of us can turn out, it's starting to get dark and part-way through our commanders periscope/sights stops working.
