Howard Allan Stern (born January 12, 1954) is an American radio and television personality, producer, author, actor, and photographer. He is best known as the host of The Howard Stern Show, his long-running radio show which gained popularity when it was nationally syndicated on terrestrial radio from 1986 to 2005 before its move to Sirius XM Radio in 2006. Stern first wished to be on the radio at five years of age. He landed his first radio jobs while at Boston University—WTBU, the campus station, and WNTN in Newton, Massachusetts. From 1976 to 1982, Stern developed his on-air personality through morning positions at WRNW in Briarcliff Manor, New York, WCCC in Hartford, Connecticut, WWWW in Detroit, Michigan, and WWDC in Washington, D.C. Stern worked afternoons at WNBC in New York City from 1982 until his firing in 1985.
In 1985, Stern began a 20-year run at WXRK in New York City, where his show was syndicated to 60 markets and attracted 20 million listeners. Stern won numerous awards, including Billboard’s Nationally Syndicated Air Personality of the Year eight times. He became the most fined radio host when the Federal Communications Commission issued fines totaling $2.5 million to station licensees for content it deemed indecent. Stern became one of the highest paid radio figures after signing a five-year deal with Sirius in 2004 worth $500 million. In recent years, Stern took up photography and has had work featured in Hamptons and WHIRL magazines. From 2012 to 2015, he served as a judge on America's Got Talent.
**RARE AM RADIO RECORDING** Recorded In Bristol, CT 1984 by myself. In Private parts, creative license recreated what is believed to be THIS -- rare and Never before heard recording.. as the basis for the match game skit in the movie. Although the match game was real, and pushed the limits, so did this!! The two were artfully combined in the movie, but this an actual on air recording that may well have formed the basis of it all even prior to the matchgame skit. Since Jesse Jackson was intimately tied to the controversy in this recording, the movie could not gain permission to include the original bit as is - so they improvised. It's actually funnier in the movie, but this is a cool listen. -- Imagine the Program director bolting down the hall during a portion of this. - This is a montage ...
Original aircheck of radio station WNBC in New York City. Recorded on Oct 4, 1987 This aircheck brings home everything this channel represents, which is that records during that time were made to sound their best in mono for broadcast on AM Top 40 radio. NOT in stereo, for pop music during that time was rare to hear on FM stereo radio. During the time frame from 1987 to Oct 7, 1988, WNBC had special shows during the weekends called "The Time Machine". This was a very accurate re-creation of how AM Radio sounded like during the late 60's to early 70's. This show has become legendary in radio circles! Sadly, Radio Station WNBC no longer exists. On Oct 7, 1988, it became WFAN and changed to a sports talk format. Yes, it is hard to believe that WNBC radio is no longer around. Th...
On October 7, 1988 at 5:30 p.m., the WFAN call letters, studios, programming and staff moved to WNBC's old frequency at 660 AM, which has a much better signal. Earlier in the day, the station aired a 90-minute retrospective titled "WNBC-The First 66 Years," hosted by Dale Parsons. The program was written and produced by Parsons and his wife, Ginny, who spent nearly six months researching the station's history. The last voice heard on WNBC was that of Alan Colmes, who said "I'm Alan Colmes. Thank you, God bless you, and for the last time, this is 66 WNBC New York. Let's do the countdown." and counted down the seconds to WNBC's demise with the legendary NBC chimes (the notes G-E-C) playing in the background. Their soon-to-be former TV sister station, WNBC-TV, abruptly cut from a pre-produced...

Late 60's jingle from WMAQ 670 AM In Chicago and a 1970's jingle for WNBC 660 AM In New York. Both were NBC owned and operated radio stations and both stations are no longer on the air. WMAQ signed on the air as WGU on April 13, 1922 to August 1, 2000. WNBC signed on the air as WEAF on March 2, 1922 to October 7, 1988 when it became the current WFAN.

From Tuesday September 11th, 2001, Complete WNBC News Coverage of the September 11th, attacks - Coverage runs from 8:46.32 A.M E.D.T - 10:30 A.M E.D.T - In memory of the 2,974 victims killed that day
This is a rare recording of the historic change to the first all-sports talk radio station in the country. Before they relocated down the dial to take over the WNBC 660 call letters, WFAN was up on 1050 AM, the former home of Country Music station WHN. Those call letters were officially retired after a 60+ year run over the New York airwaves and used in countless old films. I recorded the following as it happened just minutes before 3:00 pm (Eastern) and digitized it to make this entry on YouTube. Enjoy!
66 WNBC October 30, 1980 Alan Beebe. My favorite era listening to radio. Great music and great AM radio sound. 6:27 a.m. Signature card sent to me by WNBC 1980-81.
From History of Howard Stern I & II...Stern is fired from WNBC and is hired at K-Rock 92.3 FM.
Pre-storm TV weather reports including A.M. Weather of the Blizzard of 1993 (aka "Superstorm 1993", "Storm of the Century")
Now introducing 1,000 viewers! Thank you! Listen now, to the ORIGINAL AIRCHECK broadcast of "Match Game 1984″ as broadcast on 66 WNBC New York. This is NOT a re-creation, but a recording of the authentic broadcast, made by contributor Bob Gilmore as it was heard in 1984. In your webmaster's opinion, the whole of WNBC's format in the years 1983-1986 was one of the most entertaining and best all around radio that was ever done in New York... maybe anywhere. You got music, information, laughter... this is a comment about WNBC radio, not Stern. WNBC IMHO, was at least as good in it's own right, during these years, as WABC was in it's heyday in the 1960s. This is what radio was SUPPOSED to be like, and NBC actually got it right! Even after Stern was gone, the Soupy Sales / Joey Reynolds era i...
Howdy Doody is an American children's television program (with circus and Western frontier themes) that was created and produced by E. Roger Muir and telecast on the NBC network in the United States from December 27, 1947 until September 24, 1960. It was a pioneer in children's television programming and set the pattern for many similar shows. One of the first television series produced at NBC in Rockefeller Center, in Studio 3A, it was also a pioneer in early color production as NBC (at the time owned by TV maker RCA) used the show in part to sell color television sets in the 1950s. The character first came to life from the creative mind of Bob Smith, who created Howdy Doody during his days as a radio announcer on WNBC (AM). At that time, Howdy Doody was only a voice Smith performed on ...

00:00 - View on the WTC1 west face before 9:02:59 a.m. (NIST's "Adjusted Time from Television Broadcasts".) 00:57 - Both towers burning. It's unknown if the camera has caught the second plane/WTC1 pressure pulses, since the continuous video recorded before 9:58 a.m. was (perhaps) not collected by NIST. 02:49 - South Tower collapses at about 9:58:59 a.m. (NIST's ATFTB). 9:58:54 a.m. according to NIST's "Time from Visual Analysis" (-5 seconds off compared to ATFTB). Short view on the top of the WTC2 core remnant at 03:09. 32:12 - North Tower's global collapse starts at around 10:28:22 a.m. (ATFTB). The tower's core remnant visible at 32:32 (vertical "dark stick"). West view (elevated). Recorded by one of numerous NBC's Static Cams (?) around NYC and Jersey City. Located somewhere in T...
