Tapout (song)

"Tapout" is a song by American hip hop group Rich Gang featuring rappers Lil Wayne, Birdman, Mack Maine, Nicki Minaj and Future. The song was the first single off of the YMCMB compilation album, Rich Gang. The song was produced by Southside & TM88 of 808 Mafia and co-produced by Detail. It also features uncredited vocals from its co-producer, Noel "Detail" Fisher. The song was premiered on March 12, 2013, and was available for digital download on March 19. The song has since peaked at #44 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Background

Birdman confirmed the release of the song on March 12, 2013, and was released that day as planned. The song premiered on Hot 97 with Funkmaster Flex on March 12, 2013. It was officially released as a digital download on March 19, 2013. The song was available as a digital download in UK on March 24, and in France on March 25. On May 7, "Tapout" was released to rhythmic contemporary radio.

Music video

Nicki Minaj confirmed a video shoot on March 11, 2013 but it was unknown for what song. Birdman confirmed on his Twitter that the video shoot was for "Tapout". The video (directed by Hannah Lux Davis) was released on May 5, 2013 and featured cameos from Kimora Lee Simmons, DJ Khaled, Bow Wow, Paris Hilton and Christina Milian.

Tapout is an American sports clothing and accessories company. The company is a supplier of sportswear and casual apparel. TapouT's global headquarters is located in Baltimore, Maryland. Its European headquarters is in Amsterdam's Olympic Stadium. Additional offices are in Denver, Colorado, Hong Kong and Guangzhou, China, Jakarta, Indonesia, Toronto, Canada, and Austin, Texas. In March 2015, WWE announced a partnership with Authentic Brands Group to relaunch Tapout, formerly a major MMA-related clothing line, as a more general "lifestyle fitness" brand. The apparel, for men and women, is expected to be released in spring of 2016. Through 2015, WWE will market the brand through various products, including beverages, supplements and gyms. WWE will hold a 50% stake in the brand, and so will advertise it regularly across all its platforms, hoping to give it one billion impressions a month, and take some of the fitness market from Under Armour. All employees and students of the WWE Performance Center will wear the clothes.

Taco

A taco (/ˈtɑːkoʊ/ or UK /ˈtækoʊ/) is a traditional Mexican dish composed of a corn or wheat tortilla folded or rolled around a filling. A taco can be made with a variety of fillings, including beef, pork, chicken, seafood, vegetables and cheese, allowing for great versatility and variety. A taco is generally eaten without utensils and is often accompanied by garnishes such as salsa or chili pepper, avocado or guacamole, cilantro (coriander), tomatoes, onions and lettuce.

Etymology

According to the Real Academia Española, publisher of Diccionario de la Lengua Española, the word taco describes a typical Mexican dish of a maize tortilla folded around food ("Tortilla de maíz enrollada con algún alimento dentro, típica de México"). The original sense of the word is of a "plug" or "wad" used to fill a hole ("Pedazo de madera, metal u otra materia, corto y grueso, que se encaja en algún hueco"). The Online Etymological Dictionary defines taco as a "tortilla filled with spiced meat" and describes its etymology as derived from Mexican Spanish, "light lunch", literally, "plug, wadding". The sense development from "plug" may have taken place among Mexican silver miners, who used explosive charges in plug form consisting of a paper wrapper and gunpowder filling.

Taco (musician)

Taco Ockerse (born July 21, 1955), usually known mononymously as Taco, is an Indonesian-born Dutch singer and entertainer who started his career in Germany.

Early life

Taco Ockerse, born in Jakarta, Indonesia on July 21, 1955, had spent many of his childhood years moving around the world residing in the Netherlands, the United States, Singapore, Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany. He attended the International School of Brussels, Belgium, and graduated in 1973. Afterward, he studied interior decoration and finished acting school in Hamburg. He held lead roles in numerous school productions, including You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Carousel; The Fantasticks; and Fiddler on the Roof.

In 1975, he began his first professional theatrical engagements in Hamburg. This included roles in Children's Theater, and roles as an ensemble member of the Thalia Theater in a number of plays, including Sweet Charity, Chicago, and Three Musketeers. He also directed and choreographed for the musical Nightchild. In 1979, he played "Chino" in John Neumeier's West Side Story at Hamburg Opera House. He founded his first band, Taco's Bizz, in 1979.
