Srimanthudu (English: Wealthy Man) is a 2015 Indian Telugu drama film written and directed by Koratala Siva. It was produced by Y. Naveen, Y. Ravi Shankar and C. V. Mohan under their banner Mythri Movie Makers. Mahesh Babu co-produced the film under his banner G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd and played the film's protagonist, Harsha Vardhan, with Shruti Haasan as the female lead, Charuseela. Jagapati Babu, Rajendra Prasad, Sampath Raj, Mukesh Rishi, Sukanya and Harish Uthaman appear in supporting roles. It was distributed globally by Eros International.
The film tells the story of Harsha Vardhan, a young man who inherits a business empire from his father Ravikanth (played by Jagapati Babu). Urged by his friend Charuseela to learn about his and his father's ancestral roots in a remote village named Devarakota, Harsha adopts the village and spends some time trying to improve the standard of living of the local people and the infrastructure of the village. His efforts anger the local crime boss Sashi (played by Sampath Raj) and his brother Venkata Ratnam, a politician (played by Mukesh Rishi).
Mahesh Babu (born Mahesh Ghattamaneni, 9 August 1975) is an Indian actor, producer, media personality and philanthropist known for his work in Telugu cinema. He owns the production house G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. The younger son of actor Krishna, Mahesh holds a bachelor's degree in commerce. At the age of four, he made his debut as a child artist in Needa (1979) and acted in eight other films as a child artist. He made his debut as a lead actor with Rajakumarudu (1999) and won the Nandi Award for Best Male Debut.
Mahesh received breakthrough with the films Murari (2001) and Okkadu (2003); the former fetched him his first Nandi Special Jury Award and the latter fetched him his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu. The commercial successes of the films Athadu (2005) and Pokiri (2006) established him in the Telugu film industry. He later went on to act in other commercially successful films such as Dookudu (2011), Businessman (2012), Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (2013) and Srimanthudu (2015). To date, he has won seven Nandi Awards, four Filmfare Awards, three CineMAA Awards, two South Indian International Movie Awards and one International Indian Film Academy Awards.
Shruti Haasan (born 1986) is an Indian film actress, singer and musician known for her works in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films. She was born to veteran actor Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur.
As a child artist, she sang in films and appeared in a guest role in her father's Hey Ram (2000), before making her adult acting debut in the 2009 Bollywood action drama, Luck. She later went on to win critical acclaim for her role in the Walt Disney fantasy film in Telugu, Anaganaga O Dheerudu, Oh My Friend and her Tamil debut 7aum Arivu.
After several successful films like Balupu, Yevadu, Race Gurram and Srimanthudu, she established herself as one of the leading contemporary actress in Tamil and Telugu cinema. In a recent poll conducted by Chennai Times Shruti topped the list of most desirable women. She has also continued her stint in music through work as a singer in Indian languages, a career in music direction beginning with her father's production Unnaipol Oruvan and her own music band and album.
