Truckee (originally, Coburn Station) is an incorporated town in Nevada County, California, United States. The population was 16,180 at the 2010 census, up from 13,864 at the 2000 census.
The town’s original name was Coburn Station, commemorating a saloon keeper.
Truckee was named after a Paiute chief. His assumed Paiute name was Tru-ki-zo. He was the father of Chief Winnemucca and grandfather of Sarah Winnemucca. The first Europeans who came to cross the Sierra Nevada encountered his tribe. The friendly Chief rode toward them yelling “Tro-kay!, which is Paiute for “Everything is all right. The unaware travelers assumed he was yelling his name. Chief Truckee later served as a guide for John C. Frémont.
Truckee is located along Interstate 80 at 39°20′32″N 120°12′13″W / 39.34222°N 120.20361°W / 39.34222; -120.20361 (39.342163, -120.203568).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 33.7 square miles (87Â km2), of which 32.3 square miles (84Â km2) is land and 1.3 square miles (3.4Â km2) (3.96%) is water, mostly the Truckee River, the only outlet of Lake Tahoe.
Donner Lake is a freshwater lake in Northeast California on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada and about 11 miles (18Â km) northwest of the much larger Lake Tahoe. A moraine serves as a natural dam for the lake. The lake is located in the town of Truckee, between Interstate 80 to the north and Schallenberger Ridge to the south. The tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad run along Schallenberger Ridge and closely follow the route of the original transcontinental railroad. The historic route of the Lincoln Highway, the first automobile road across America and US 40 follows the northern shoreline, then climbs to Donner Pass from where the entire lake may be viewed.
Both the lake and the pass were named after the ill-fated Donner Party, which wintered unintentionally near the lake in 1846. Donner Memorial State Park is on the east end of the lake and provides campsites with access to several different beaches. There are also various hiking trails in the park.
The lake's depth has been measured by the California State Lands Commission to be 328 feet (100Â m) deep at its deepest point. High water level is 5,935.8 feet (1,809.2Â m) above Mean Sea Level.
The Truckee River (Washo: dabayóduweʔ) is a stream in the U.S. states of California and Nevada. The river flows northeasterly and is 121 miles (195 km) long. The Truckee is the sole outlet of Lake Tahoe and drains part of the high Sierra Nevada, emptying into Pyramid Lake in the Great Basin. Its waters are an important source of irrigation along its valley and adjacent valleys.
When John C. Frémont and Kit Carson ascended the Truckee River on January 16, 1844 they called it the Salmon Trout River, after the huge Lahontan cutthroat trout (Oncorhynchus clarki henshawi) that ran up the river from Pyramid Lake to spawn. However, the river was ultimately named after a Paiute chief known as Truckee who in 1844 guided an emigrant party from the headwaters of the Humboldt River to California via the Truckee River, Donner Lake, and Donner Pass. Appreciative of their Indian guide's services the party named the river after him. The chief's real name might not have been Truckee, but perhaps Tru-ki-zo, which could have become distorted as "Truckee". There are numerous other theories about Chief Truckee and his name.

The traditional East Asian calendars divide a year into 24 solar terms (節氣). Dà xuÄ› (pÄ«nyÄ«n), Taisetsu (rÅ?maji), or Daeseol (romaja) (Chinese and Japanese: 大雪; Korean: 대설; Vietnamese: Ä?ại tuyết; literally: "major snow") is the 21st solar term. It begins when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 255° and ends when it reaches the longitude of 270°. It more often refers in particular to the day when the Sun is exactly at the celestial longitude of 255°. In the Gregorian calendar, it usually begins around 7 December and ends around 21 December (22 December East Asia time).

Truckee is my 6 year old American Black Lab and the senior dog on the Heavenly Avalanche Rescue Dog Team. Truckee LOVES what he does, including sliding like a seal on the slopes. He usually does this during the right snow conditions and this was one of the first warm days we've had here in South Lake Tahoe. It's been a privilege and a blessing for me to have trained him in what he loves to do! We've received over 10 million views on Facebook, thanks to everyone who's made this video so popular! Falken Sponsorship in the works! "The driver had jackknifed at the top of the grade. When the driver had lost it at the top of the hill, he had broke the air lines to his rear trailer. This caused the brakes on the rear trailer to lock up. We arrived on scene and were informed the tow was going to be extended. So we asked the driver if he could get himself going and we would give him space to get down to the next open shoulder on the Interstate. 20 minutes later he was off the highway and we were open with flowing traffic."

A tour of the Amtrak California Zephyr as it travels from Truckee (North Lake Tahoe) to San Francisco in late November, 2012. Video inside and outside of the train, including time lapse of the entire trip from multiple angles with instrumentation (speed, elevation, heading, etc). Probably best watched in full screen mode. Now with Closed Captions. I'd be curious to hear from anyone who uses the Closed Captions, as to how well they worked for you, anything I could improve, etc. I am somewhat hampered by YouTube's Closed Captioning, which is somewhat buggy -- it often doesn't display italics when I've told it to, and I can't control the positioning.
A small, but potent winter storm is affecting parts of California northeast of Sacramento. Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories went up late Sunday night and continued into Monday morning where upwards of 14 inches of snow fell. Parts of I-80 were closed to any vehicles without snow tires or chains as travel over Donner Pass was extremely hazardous due to heavy falling snow covering the interstate. This is the first of several storms expected to impact the region through the upcoming week. Another round of snow is expected Tuesday with a third round coming by late week. Video package shot on the west side of Truckee, California along I-80 about 90 miles northeast of Sacramento. California crews had I-80 closed below Donner Pass at Truckee to any vehicles without proper tires and chains. ...

She's been waiting for that special someone
Anguished by the tears left behind them
Fortifying all that lying
Putrid taste left in her mouth
Chorus :

Ambersunshower :
Follow me, follow me
Down
Follow me, follow me
Down
Tricky :
Yeah, c'mon
Let's do the maniac
Maniac, bumping like a brainiac
Brainiac, I don't remember [?]
Land me down, touch me down at heathrow
Reach down, the first time I ever feel
Bouncers [face?] on 57th st
Calm down, I feel a cool breeze and
Not particular
I think I found a reason
