Khurja, a city in the Bulandshahar district of Uttar Pradesh, is famous for its ceramics and pottery making. The place is approx 85 kms from Delhi.The city of pathans, that once used to be a wasteland, is now producing world class ceramics which are being exported worldwide in large numbers and across India as well.
The history of Khurja pottery dates back to 600 years ago since the reign of Md Bin Tuglaq. Ever since the inception of pottery making, the city now boasts of more than 500 ceramic factories that keep the skyline dotted with their chimneys.
The new age technology brings big relief to the workers, as most of the work here is being done mechanically.

DURONTO Express with 22377 HWH WAP- 4 accelerates furiously after getting a delayed proceed signal at Khurja outers, and skips Khurja Junction at a good speed. Meanwhile, we encounter a light WDG- 4, a WAG- 7 hauled BOXN rake, and also overtake TKD WDP- 3A "Pushpak" hauled Khurja- Meerut City Passenger.

Khurja can be reached by road or train. A drive from Delhi on a direct route has heavy traffic and takes about two and a half hours. Time can be saved by taking the expressway from Delhi to Noida, then the Dankaur station road to Sikandrabad, which is 37 km from Khurja. Starting early enough,
Khurja has three bus terminals: Bus Adda; which is the main bus terminus, Jewar Adda; the second terminus and Pahansu Adda; the third terminus. The latter 2 terminals are named after their locations and the routes of buses which they provide. Apart from these Bus terminals, this town has two railways stations one of which is the Khurja Junction(the main station linking Khurja with the major routes of the country) and the other is called Khurja City (a station established for most of the local routes to take off the rail traffic from the main junction).

Khurja
Khurja is a city (and a municipal board) in the Bulandshahr district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is situated around 85 km from Delhi. Khurja supplies a large portion of the ceramics used in the country, hence it is sometimes called The Ceramics City. The town is also famous for its special sweet, known as "khurchan".
The name Khurja is derived from the Urdu word kharija meaning, cancelled or condemned, as the revenue for this town was waived because this land included many swamps and the agricultural possibilities were rare.
Khurja is now famous for its ceramics. With over 500 factories producing ceramic works, its skyline is dotted with chimneys. However, the ceramic industry has been a boon and bain for the town, providing it with much needed employment and chimneys giving out pollutants as most of them still run on coal.
Geography
Khurja is located at 28°15′N 77°51′E / 28.25°N 77.85°E / 28.25; 77.85. It has an average elevation of 197 metres (646 foot).

First Time Ever: The Luxurious Mahaparinirvan (Buddhist Special) Express Breezes Away at 130 !!
DATE: 27/09/2014 TIME: 16:21 hrs LOCATION: Somna, Between High Speed NDLS - CNB section, North Central Railways, Uttar Pradesh As we all know NDLS - CNB section is a section full of surprises !!! ;) ;) So, the surprise package of the day was this action ...!! Was planning to visit the section ahead of Khurja from a very long time and in this thirst, landed at high speed Somna station located midway between Khurja and Aligarh after getting the required oppurtunity. After enjoying the location for about 1 hr, got to see this unexpected breeze. As we all know NDLS - CNB section is a section full of surprises !!! ;) ;) So, the surprise package of the day was this action ...!!
Was planning to visit the section ahead of Khurja from a very long time and in this thirst, landed at high speed Somna station located midway between Khurja and Aligarh after getting the required oppurtunity. After enjoying the location for about 1 hr, got to see this unexpected breeze.
Crazily Honking Red Hot HWH WAP-4# 22867 warns the people roaming here and there and just Slices through the platform, thrashing a Oil Tanker Freight at a completely unexpected speed of 125+ kmph which comes approximately close to 130 kmph hauling a short 11 coach rake of "MAHAPARINIRVAN EXPRESS" aka Buddhist Special Train. The Rake Consisted of shining 11 ICF Coaches.
Enjoy this Rare High Speed Action with some furious honking show by the P4 and deadly sounds of the EOG at the last !!
Some information about this train is as follows:-
Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train: With the support of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the Buddhist Circuit Special Train, was launched by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd., a Mini Ratna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India in the year 2007, with the objective of offering a safe, comfortable & reliable tour package for international as well as domestic travelers on the Buddhist Circuit. This is a fully AC train with a capacity of 274 seats comprising of 72 berths in first AC, 138 berths in second AC and 64 berths in third AC. During its 7 nights / 8 days journey from Delhi it covers important sites such as Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Nalanda, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Lumbini, Shravasti and at the end The Taj Mahal (Agra). The all-inclusive tour package includes train journeys, hotel accommodation, road transport, tour guide services, tour manager services, all meals, travel insurance, security and monument admission fees etc. during the tour. This train has been awarded the coveted National Tourism Award of Excellence by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in Feb 2009. Britain's new foreign secretary Boris Johnson has told the Parliament that India is on a long list of foreign missions who owe the country millions of pounds in unpaid bills. According to 2016 figures released by Transport for London (TfL), Indian diplomats allegedly owe them over 4.4 million pounds in accumulated unpaid dues since 2003 ... He said ...
