State parks or provincial parks are parks or other protected areas managed at the sub-national level within those nations which use "state" or "province" as a political subdivision. State parks are typically established by a state to preserve a location on account of its natural beauty, historic interest, or recreational potential. There are state parks under the administration of the government of each U.S. state, and of some states of Mexico. The term is also used in Australia, though the distinction between state and national parks there is different. The Canadian equivalent term is provincial park. Similar systems of local government maintained parks exist in other countries, but the terminology varies.
State parks are thus similar to national parks, but under state rather than federal administration. Similarly, local government entities below state level may maintain parks, e.g., regional parks or county parks. In general, state parks are smaller than national parks, with a few exceptions such as the Adirondack Park in New York and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California.
Crater of Diamonds State Park is a 911-acre (369 ha) Arkansas state park in Pike County, Arkansas, in the United States. The park features a 37.5-acre (15.2 ha) plowed field, the world's only diamond-bearing site accessible to the public. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists the site as a Class III Natural Monument or Feature in its registry. Diamonds have continuously been discovered in the field since 1906, including the Strawn-Wagner Diamond. The site became a state park in 1972 after the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism purchased the site from the Arkansas Diamond Company and Ozark Diamond Mines Corporation, who had operated the site as a tourist attraction previously.
In August 1906, John Huddleston found two strange crystals on the surface of his 243-acre (98 ha) farm near Murfreesboro, Arkansas, and soon became known as the first person outside South Africa to find diamonds at their original source. The following month, Huddleston and his wife, Sarah, sold an option on the 243 acres (98 ha) to a group of Little Rock investors headed by banker-attorney Samuel F. (Sam) Reyburn, who undertook a careful, deliberate test of the property.
DIAMOND STATE PARK, ARKANSAS — An 8.52 carat diamond has been found by a woman at Arkansas' Crater of Diamonds State Park on Wednesday. Bobbie Oskarson, from Colorado, found the big gem around the Pig Pen, a 37-acre search field inside the park, which takes the name from its muddy terrain after rainfall. At the beginning she thought it was a quartz crystal, but a park staffer confirmed it was indeed a diamond. Shaped like an icicle, the stone is three-quarters of an inch long and it has the diameter of a No.2 pencil. The largest diamond found at the park was 16.73 carats and was discovered in 1972. The search area at the park is the only diamond-producing site in the world to be open to the public. Oskarson, who plans to keep the diamond, named the stone after her niece Esperanza, w...
This is our family trip to Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas. It was a beautiful February day, and a much better day than the scorching hot day when we went for the first time in July last year. There was a rain a day and a half or two days earlier, and so the likelihood that we would find a diamond was very good. Hope you enjoy!!

Our mission is simple: to improve cycling safety by creating an ultra portable helmet. We are innovating on the current helmet design which has been fundamentally the same since 1990. Our helmet is redefining what it means to be a bike helmet; from a helmet that was bulky to carry around to seamlessly fitting your lifestyle, and from having the stigma for being ugly to an attractive form of self expression. Outdated designs aren’t acceptable, and Park & Diamond is giving cyclists the opportunity to choose a modern helmet that fits our modern lives.
