New Delhi: Two transgenders were arrested after they tried to abduct an infant from a mall in west Delhi on Friday evening. The incident was captured in a CCTV footage from the mall which shows them hurriedly pushing the perambulator out of the gate following which the family members chased them.

The child's mother noticed the incident and raised an alarm after which the culprits were caught. Police said that they are suspected to be a part of a trafficking gang.

The incident was reported around 5pm when the child's mother, Sharon Aggarwal, left him with a nanny and was busy playing computer games with her daughter. According to her, the transgenders, later identified as Bhoomi (50) and Salma (30) approached the child and started playing with her.

When the nanny objected to it, Bhoomi took the perambulator and started walking towards the gate without informing anyone. Aggarwal said that she was alerted by the nanny who raised an alarm.

The nanny and Aggarwal chased the transgenders who started running with the perambulator towards the elevator that had stopped at the floor. However, the doors had shut before they reached. By this time, Aggarwal and her family managed to catch hold of them.

"When we confronted them, they started behaving as if nothing had happened and claimed that they were trying to play a prank on us. They started abusing when we threatened to call the police," said Aggarwal, who stays with her family in Noida with her husband, Rishi, who works a private firm.
