Adulthood (rendered as AdULTHOOD) is a 2008 British drama film. It was directed and written by Noel Clarke, who also stars as the protagonist, Sam Peel. Adulthood is a sequel to the 2006 film Kidulthood, which Clarke also wrote, and depicts Peel's experiences after he is released from jail.
As the film begins with a street gathering involving loud music and drinking, we are introduced to Omen, Dabs, Henry and Blammy who are part of those that damage an expensive car and shoot a man in the leg.
Six years after being jailed for killing Trife, Sam is released from prison. Sam's old girlfriend Claire has a new boyfriend, Jay. A man approaches Sam outside the prison gates and lets him know that he can contact him if he needs anything.
Sam, meets a man who is a cousin of Trife who attacks him with a knife and informs him that he will not survive the day as many people want him dead and will harm his family. Sam, is troubled by these claims, goes to speak to Becky's cousin Lexi, hoping that she might have some information. He approaches Claire and asks her if she's seen anyone lately. She tells him Moony (Robert) goes to the local university. Sam and Robert meet in a coffee shop, where he tells him that Becky works in a salon, however he refuses to give him Jays number, warning that he has changed for the worse.
A group of friends reaching the end of the years during which mistakes can be explained by youth are forced by events outside of their control to realize that adulthood means taking responsibility for themselves, their own happiness, their own lives.

I go outside
Ask the air if you'd like to hide
Take a deep breath
Walk inside my prise
In my lungs I still feel young
But my body won't play along
I'm thinking this must not be where we - belong
And the world
Slpit in two from the throng
Of every living soul
Screamin' atop of their lungs
Singin' this - is my word
But somehow we never get heard
There's just an echo from a lost and lonely world
And I dare you to survive
Being grown for the rest of your life
From adulthood - no one survives
Ten million feet
Pounding into the ground each week
Every secret, every burden they keep
Each ones waiting on the chance
To be lifted off the ground, but then
To discover that we'll all be dust again
And I dare you to survive
Being grown for the rest of your life
From adulthood - no one survives
And I dare you to survive
Being grown for the rest of your life
