Transport in Europe

Transport in Europe provides for the movement needs of over 700 million people and associated freight. The political geography of Europe divides the continent into over 50 sovereign states and territories. This fragmentation, along with increased movement of people since the industrial revolution, has led to a high level of cooperation between European countries in developing and maintaining transport networks. Supranational and intergovernmental organisations such as the European Union (EU), Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe have led to the development of international standards and agreements that allow people and freight to cross the borders of Europe, largely with unique levels of freedom and ease.

Road, rail, air and water transportation are all prevalent and important across Europe. Europe was the location of the world's first railways and motorways and is now the location of some of the world's busiest ports and airports. The Schengen Area enables border control-free travel between 26 European countries. Freight transportation has a high level of intermodal compatibility and the European Economic Area allows the free movement of goods across 30 states.

Rick Steves

Richard "Rick" Steves (born May 10, 1955) is an American author and television personality focusing on European travel. He is the host of the American Public Television series Rick Steves' Europe, has a public radio travel show called Travel with Rick Steves and has authored numerous travel guides.

Career

Steves started his career by teaching travel classes through The Experimental College, a student-run program of non-credit classes at his alma mater, the University of Washington, and working as a tour guide in the summer. At the time, he also worked as a piano teacher (his father had owned a piano store). In 1979, based on his travel classes, he wrote the first edition of Europe Through the Back Door (ETBD), a general guide on how to travel in Europe. Steves self-published the first edition of his travel skills book ETBD in 1980. Unlike most guidebook entrepreneurs, he opened a storefront business. Initially, this was both a travel center and a piano teaching studio. He held travel classes and slide show presentations, did travel consulting, organized a few group tours per year, and updated his books. He did not provide ticket booking or other standard travel agency services. He incorporated his business as "Rick Steves' Europe Through the Back Door." The store was in Steves's hometown of Edmonds, Washington, north of Seattle. The company's headquarters are still in Edmonds. Steves' first television show, Travels in Europe with Rick Steves, debuted on public television in April of 1991 and ended production in 1998. His second show, Rick Steves' Europe, debuted in September of 2000, and has produced episodes through 2014, though because he does not produce a season every year, this accounts for eight seasons.

Part III

Part III is the third studio album by American R&B group 112 released on March 20, 2001 by Bad Boy Records. Unlike the previous releases, the album is described as having edgier, techno-flavored jams, resulting in a more modern and forward-sounding effort. The album was the group's last album with the label.

Upon its release Part III received mixed reviews from music critics, who praised the groups edgier performance, and described the album as one of the most varied and truly captivating albums that the R&B world has seen in a long time. The album debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart, in the United States and was certified Platinum by the RIAA.

The album produced three singles including "It's Over Now", "Dance With Me" and the smash hit, "Peaches & Cream" the latter of which was nominated for a Grammy award.

Singles

The first single was "It's Over Now" peaking at number one on the U.S. R&B chart for two weeks. The song's beat is an alternate version of the beat from rap group Mobb Deep's 1999 single, "Quiet Storm". Elsewhere, it peaked at number twenty-two on the UK Singles Chart, their first top 40 hit there. The second single, "Peaches and Cream" peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and number four on the Billboard Hot 100, staying in the Top 40 for 25 weeks and making it their highest-charting Hot 100 single to date. It also topped the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 chart. The song charted at number 32 on the UK Singles Chart on 8 September 2001. The song was nominated for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal at the 44th Grammy Awards in 2002. Dance With Me was the third and final single peaking at number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100. Elsewhere, in Australia, reaching number two on the country's ARIA Charts in April 2002 and registering as the 28th biggest song of the year. The released version featured American rapper, Beanie Sigel.
