Happy memories for some may be awakened as we visit Brent station in 1959 as Hawkesworth "Modified Hall" class 4-6-0 no. 6988 "Swithland Hall" gets underway with an east-bound train having made a connection with the Kingsbridge branch train here. The latter's "Small Prairie" no 4551 follows it through the platform as it uses the up main to run round its train stabled in the down loop. Another "Hall"-hauled train (4950 "Patshull Hall", a Collett "Hall") then arrives with another passenger train heading in the Plymouth direction.
