Brewers put Santana on DL, recall Broxton; Braun out again
NEW YORK (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers have placed right fielder Domingo Santana on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right shoulder and recalled speedy Keon Broxton from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Broxton was in the starting lineup Friday night against the New York Mets, playing center field and batting seventh. He made the Milwaukee roster out of spring training but went 0 for 16 before getting sent to the minors April 16. He's been on a tear at Colorado Springs, hitting .301 with seven homers, 18 RBIs and 15 stolen bases in 25 games.
Santana is batting .239 with three homers, 12 RBIs and a .353 on-base percentage. His shoulder began bothering him early this month and he's been in and out of the lineup since.
Left fielder Ryan Braun was out of the lineup for the third straight game with a stiff back. Braun had back surgery in the offseason and the club has been cautious with his health.
