October: Ten Days That Shook the World
(Russian: Октябрь (Десять дней, которые потрясли мир);
translit. Oktyabr': Desyat' dney kotorye potryasli mir) is a Soviet silent film made in 1927 by Sergei Eisenstein, sometimes referred to simply as October in English.
It is a celebratory dramatization of the 1917 October Revolution.
The title is taken from John Reed's book on the Revolution, "Ten Days That Shook The World".
October was one of two films commissioned by the Soviet government to honour the tenth anniversary of the October Revolution (the other was Vsevolod Pudovkin's The End of St. Petersburg).
Eisenstein was chosen to head the project due to the international success he had achieved with The Battleship Potemkin in 1925 .
Nikolai Podvoisky, one of the troika who led the storming of the Winter Palace was responsible for the commission.
The scene of the storming was based more on the 1920 re-enactment involving Lenin and thousands of Red Guards, witnessed by 100,000 spectators, than the original occasion, which was far less photogenic.

Dmitri Shostakovich wrote his Symphony No. 2 in B major, Opus 14 and subtitled To October, for the 10th anniversary of the October Revolution.
It was first performed by the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra and the Academy Capella Choir under Nikolai Malko, on 5 November 1927.
Shostakovich later revisited the events of the October Revolution in his Twelfth Symphony, subtitled The Year 1917.
Soviet montage theory is an approach to understanding and creating cinema that relies heavily upon editing (montage is French for "build, organize"). Although Soviet filmmakers in the 1920s disagreed about how exactly to view montage, Sergei Eisenstein marked a note of accord in "A Dialectic Approach to Film Form" when he noted that montage is "the nerve of cinema", and that "to determine the nature of montage is to solve the specific problem of cinema".
While several Soviet filmmakers, such as Lev Kuleshov, Dziga Vertov, and Vsevolod Pudovkin put forth explanations of what constitutes the montage effect, Eisenstein's view that "montage is an idea that arises from the collision of independent thoughts" wherein "each sequential element is perceived not next to the other, but on top of the other" has become most widely accepted.

Strike was Sergei Eisenstein's first film (1924). It depicts life at a factory complex in Tsarist Russia and the conditions the workforce experienced. The plot is about the workers organising a strike which due to repression escalates into a full blown occupation. Its most famous scenes like Battleship Potemkin where the violent measures used by the Tsarist authorities.
Acting mainly involved members of the First Workers Prolecult theatre an experimental movement in the Soviet Unions early years that attempted to replace the importance of plot with the power of performance aided by special effects. Sergei Eisenstein was a member of the Prolecult theatre before moving onto film and incorporated most of that style into his films.
Contains both Russian and English inter titles.

Ivan the Terrible (Russian: Иван Грозный, Ivan Grozniy) is a two-part historical epic film about Ivan IV of Russia commissioned by Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin, who admired and identified himself with Ivan, to be written and directed by the filmmaker Sergei Eisenstein. Part I was released in 1944 but Part II was not released until 1958, as it was banned on the order of Stalin, who became incensed over the depiction of Ivan therein. Eisenstein had developed the scenario to require a third part to finish the story but, with the banning of Part II, filming of Part III was stopped and what had been completed was destroyed.

Ivan IV Vasilyevich (Russian: 
Ива́н Четвёртый, Васи́льевич (help·info), Ivan Chetvyorty, Vasilyevich; 25 August 1530 – 28 March [O.S. 18 March] 1584), known in English as Ivan the Terrible (Russian: Ива́н Гро́зный (help·info), Ivan Grozny; lit. Fearsome), was Grand Prince of Moscow from 1533 until his death. His long reign saw the conquest of the Khanates of Kazan, Astrakhan, and Siberia, transforming Russia into a multiethnic and multiconfessional state spanning almost one billion acres, approximately 4,046,856 km2 (1,562,500 sq mi). Ivan managed countless changes in the progression from a medieval state to an empire and emerging regional power, and became the first ruler to be crowned as Tsar of all Russia.
Historic sources present disparate accounts of Ivan's complex personality: he was described as intelligent and devout, yet given to rages and prone to episodic outbreaks of mental illness. On one such outburst Tsar beat and unpremeditatedly killed his groomed and chosen heir Ivan Ivanovich. This led Tsardom to be passed to Tsar's younger son: the weak and intellectually disabledFeodor I of Russia. Ivan's legacy is complex: he was an able diplomat, a patron of arts and trade, founder of the Russia's first Print Yard, but he is also remembered for his paranoiac suspiciousness and cruel persecution of nobility.

Part I was released in 1944 but Part II was not released until 1958, as it was banned on the order of Stalin, who became incensed over the depiction of Ivan therein. While several Soviet filmmakers, such as Lev Kuleshov, Dziga Vertov, and Vsevolod Pudovkin put forth explanations of what constitutes the montage effect, Eisenstein's view that "montage is an idea that arises from the collision of independent thoughts" wherein "each sequential element is perceived not next to the other, but on top of the other" has become most widely accepted.

Ivan the Terrible (Russian: Иван Грозный, Ivan Grozniy) is a two-part historical epic film about Ivan IV of Russia commissioned by Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin, who admired and identified himself with Ivan, to be written and directed by the filmmaker Sergei Eisenstein. Part I was released in 1944 but Part II was not released until 1958, as it was banned on the order of Stalin, who became incensed over the depiction of Ivan therein. Serguéi Eisenstein fue un director de cine y teatro soviético, nacido en Letonia el 23 de enero de 1898.
Luego de dedicar sus primeros años al mundo del teatro, decidió avocarse al medio que posteriormente le dio prestigio internacional: el cine.
Uno de los pioneros del uso del montaje, para él, la edición no era un simple método utilizado para enlazar escenas, sino un medio capaz de manipular las emociones de su audiencia.
Luego de una larga investigación en el tema, Eisenstein desarrolló su propia teoría. En este documental analizaremos los estudios del joven director en materia de montaje, específicamente con uno de sus trabajos más reconocidos: “El Acorazado Potemkin"
A su vez, demostraremos la trascendencia de sus teorías a través del tiempo, reflejadas en grandes clásicos del cine.
